Sickening game fact that was just tweeted out...

Eric from BBI : Admin : 9/19/2017 4:12 pm
Matt Stafford attempted 4 passes in the second half against New York. He completed 3 of them. None went longer than 5 yards. And they won!
Punt return
jeff57 : 9/19/2017 4:13 pm : link
No offense by the Giants. Ddn't have to throw.
un - freaking - believable
Bchurch : 9/19/2017 4:14 pm : link
It's time to set pride aside and make the necessary changes.
Stafford only had 122 yards passing in this game?!
Simms11 : 9/19/2017 4:16 pm : link
2 TDs however. One came as a result of that stupid unsportsmanlike penalty on Engram and the Kick out of bounds, essentially placing the ball at our 45 yard line! It was a very odd game and one we could have won, had the offense been more productive.
All the talking heads praising Stafford for a phenomenal game
SHO'NUFF : 9/19/2017 4:16 pm : link
really?
The second half was a comedy of errors with one bad call
Giants_West : 9/19/2017 4:16 pm : link
sprinkled in for good measure. We had every opportunity to win in the second half. We blew it with poor football that largely wasn't the 0-lines fault.
And remember - despite being handed the ball in Giants
jcn56 : 9/19/2017 4:17 pm : link
territory twice, once almost in the red zone - they managed 17 points on the night.

And a lot of people here think the defense needed to do better.
We played
MotownGIANTS : 9/19/2017 4:17 pm : link
like the Detroit Lions of old!
I wouldn't be slapping each other on the back
HomerJones45 : 9/19/2017 4:20 pm : link
Detroit sat on the ball from the middle of the 3rd quarter on. They did not seem to be terribly concerned about our ability to come back.
Disgusting

yea? tell me again how good the giants run d has looked these first two games.. i must've missed it. not sure if you heard the stat last night, but the giants d was the last in the league to hold their opponent to a 3 and out. i realize jenkins and goodson were out last night, but early returns rather clearly suggest this D is not as good as the 2016 unit. obviously that is magnified by an offense that looks to be the worst in the league. but still.

I think the defense stopped Stafford with a sack fumble and our fearless leader gave it right back with an inexcusable INT.....
stafford did run for a couple first downs
mattlawson : 9/19/2017 4:33 pm : link
a couple of passes were nullified by penalties / free plays that were incomplete passes.

then marshall dropped the damn 30 yd pass that hit him in the numbers. then the punt / return for a TD.
All you need to know is

Macadoo will never have a job in the nfl after the Giants get rid of him....r## H##### all over again...the man never even coached a pee wee football team as a head coach. Dude is way over his head...

overwhelmed by a better team, but death by a thousand cuts. Some of the worst: Engram's obscene gesture penalty; his failure to turn and remember the "two hands for beginners" maxim when there had been a massive shift in momentum generated by the defense; missing Janoris Jenkins, our Jackrabbit; missing our middle linebacker; poor coverage on one punt; cheap penalty on Jones; inexperienced receivers not forcing their will and stopping a half yard short; Marshall, not catching passes he had in his pocket; yes, the Flowers whiffs; Eli's holding on to the ball with a sieve OL; the contain on the highest paid QB in football; the play calling in the red zone, let's try our hardest not to score, let's not make it a one score game; let's let them run away from our blitzes; let's be careful not to get hurt actually tackling; let's blame each other when we were all major contributors.
I loved..
FatMan in Charlotte : 9/19/2017 5:17 pm : link
how Gruden gushed over all of the audibles to running plays by stafford.

"Look at the audible there. He's got complete control of this game".

Actually the Giants forced the fumble on that series, but bad Eli showed up with that jet then they scored.

Without a doubt this is the best post describing that loss.
For those of you too young to have been tortured by the Mara's
arniefez : 9/19/2017 6:02 pm : link
in the 70's these two games had that same feel. Not as the Handley days as some youngsters have said but more the Arnsparger days. Promoted coordinator as head coach in way over his head with a decent defense and a pathetic offense.

Those teams lead to George Young and a neutering of the Mara's for decades. But when Accorsi retired the Mara's bros jumped back in with both feet. Look at the on field record and drafting since Chris Mara was promoted to the same level as Jerry Reese. Meet the new Mara bosses same as the old Mara boss. Wellington would be proud.
Way more talent on offense than in the 70s
trueblueinpw : 9/19/2017 6:12 pm : link
Papa was talking about this last night too, said some of the horrific offensive stats were reminiscent of the 70s teams he watched growing up. But the huge difference was that there is a lot more talent on this offense. Marshall (borderline HOF player), Engram (seems to be the goods), OBJ (one of the games best receivers in a passing era), Eli (franchise QB)... sure the line isn't the best but even there you have some high draft picks and yes, there is some talent in Pugh and Richburg. So, the results of McAdoo's pathetic offense are similar to the pathetic 70s teams but the players probably are much better. So, it's coaching.
Marshall is washed up
arniefez : 9/19/2017 7:03 pm : link
Eli is not in his prime anymore. Engram is a talent but a rookie. OBJ is a hall of fame talent but he didn't play week 1 and was limited week 2. I'm talking about the two 2017 games being like the 70's. Richburg is bad. Flowers, Hart, Jerry and Jones are catastrophically bad. Pugh is pretty good but not a difference maker. The RB's wouldn't make another NFL roster. There's not much talent at all on offense.

You can have all the talent at the skill positions but football is won and lost in the trenches and this O-line is losing the battle from the get-go!
Yup. It's the defense say he McAdoo

Fans. He's a great OC. His years and years of success in the NFL. Especially as an OC. All those great innovative twists we've seen in 4 years. How he's always been dedicated to the run.

How anyone can question him is amazing.

My guess is once he showed the team a GOT clip he became coated in teflon

stafford made
Dankbeerman : 9/19/2017 9:08 pm : link
some great plays on 3rd down. The first td was 3rd and a bunch and he took a shot to a covered reciever and threw him open for the td. on the 2nd td he moved around bought time and put the ball in a perfect spot high and soft. He also ran for big 1sts downs twice. They were coasting in clock killing mode up 2 scores the whole halg
Some of you guys
Modus Operandi : 9/19/2017 9:21 pm : link
Get way too caught up in stats. It isn't about how many yards you out up as much as how efficient you are.

Stafford was pressured all game long by our DEs and he found a way to continue to move the chains, find open receivers and hit them in stride and escape the pocket when necessary. That was a big boy performance from Stafford.
