any recommendations on the best way to get dirt and moss/mold off of flagstone? The area I need to clean is path walking up to the front door in the middle of a grassy yard so I'm trying to avoid harsh chemicals.
but don't want to buy one right now. I'll see if I can rent one locally but if not I'll try the stuff JCN suggested.
UCONN - you're welcome to borrow mine if you promise not to f it up. Just used it two weeks ago for that purpose, cleaning my deck, patio and flagstone area.
what's the best way to get candle wax off patio stone?
Wait for a cold night so it firms up good and then scrape it off with a putty knife. If you don't want to wait, pile some ice on it to cool.
Once you have the big stuff off, if any remains melt it with a heat gun or dryer and blot it up.
You're bigger problem might be staining from the dyes in the wax. Getting that off could be hard if the stone is porous. Removal will depend on the type of dye and wax the candle was made of.
But about 5 days after I applied it (to all surfaces, the vinyl walls and the flagstone), all signs of mold and mildew were gone, and they've stayed gone all season.

and if you feel that you still need to put something on it, try vinegar.
