Another minor change on offense I haven't seen discussed yet

NYGmen58 : 9/20/2017 9:33 am
In addition to the obvious suggestions of playing Darkwa more at RB (and possibly activating Gallman) as well as potential o-line shuffles (i.e. Flowers to RG/RT), one thing I have been clamoring for since last year is playing Dwayne Harris more at WR.

Harris is tough as nails, has good hands, and gives it 100% on every play (unlike Marshall who goes at half-speed and gives half-assed effort on each play - something he's done for years). In 2015, Harris saw significant playing time both in the slot and on the outside and he delivered. He has shown he can be a contributor on offense and we know damn well he would catch those balls that Marshall dropped. He also blocks well, is a threat after the catch, and has great speed (unlike Marshall who has cinderblocks for feet). Getting #17 in the offensive huddle is long overdue.

Will it be a huge impact? Not sure, but it would definitely improve the offense. Harris should be used as more than a special teamer. He wants to show what he can do at WR, and for whatever reason McAdoo has REFUSED to give him an opportunity. It's time for Ben to wake up and put the best players on the field.
IMHO ...

Harris is on the decline. He did well a couple of years ago with the opportunities given to him, but he's not the same player. The fix starts with the OL, all the other stuff doesn't matter if they can't fix the OL.

had a 100% TD percentage last year. Can't top that.

On the decline based on what? The one pass thrown to him last year was a touchdown reception. What have you seen to indicate he is on the decline as a WR. If anything, I would expect/hope he's developed further. You could be right, but hard to tell when he hasn't been given the opportunity.
the limit his WR snaps

because he plays a ton of STs and he got pretty worn down 2 seasons ago when he was playing both.

Also, he's most effective with the ball in his hands on reverses/quick screens which aren't as effective when teams are sitting back and only rushing 4. He's not a great route runner.

This is a good point and definitely some truth to it, but at the end of the day, he can't be any worse than Marshall has been. Not saying he should become the starter but why not give him some snaps?

I give up on the waste of a space FB option as we never use him consistently and a FB cannot help an Oline that allows penetration. It can help a line that doesn't move people off the line much but if the defenders are coming through the line a FB will not make a difference.

We need to go TWo TE's and sometimes the two need to be Adams and Ellison. We need to run and throw from that Formation. Engram can't block at all. He is a WR in a TE sized body.

If anything maybe we go Beckham and Engram out wide some with 2 TE and a single back...
he's serviceable at WR

that's it. Dallas barely played him there in 4 years. Coughlin used him in 2015 out of sheer necessity. He did a respectable job but giving him snaps over Shep or Engram isn't going to help matters. They are much better receivers.
