It's Wednesday, which in the NFL, is the start of a new week.
Here we are, I didn't think we'd be here (I don't think anyone did) but we face a major test and I'm really not sure we'll find our way out of the mess that would be if we drop this game. 0-3 (0-2 division) is pretty much life support material before we even reach October.
In the Eli era, even when he and the Giants are going well, this place has always seemed to bring out the worst. I can only imagine how the NFL pundits will start shoveling dirt on our grave this week.
For some reason, I'm starting to feel more comfortable about Sunday. Maybe it was the fact that in the 2nd half Monday night we started to at least look like an NFL offense, move the ball and gain some first downs. Or maybe it's just because we as Giants fans realize that as the pendulum of media coverage swings from great expectations to down and out, we've come to expect the team's performance to go from bad to good.
Personally, this is a weird week for me as I'm likely to miss my first Giants game in over 15 years, but how weird would it be to see them save the season in Philly of all places.
Here's what I'm thinking..
-Beckham actually moved better than I thought he would Monday night. Continued improvement over the course of the week and I feel he can make an impact.
-The line seemed to stabilize a bit with Pugh out at tackle, I think you'll see more.
-If Mac is going to leave Flowers at LT, I think you're going to see more help provided. I hope it's clear after two weeks that if you're not replacing him, you need to help him.
-I think you're going to see a shakeup in either the playcaller or the plays called. Whoever is calling plays needs to keep Eli clean. Move the pocket, move release points.
-More Darkwa, Ellison and Shane Smith.
-I think this defense knows it can play better, and will. One of Jackrabbit or Goodson would go a long way on Sunday so hopefully we can catch a break there.
What do you all think?
Giants 17, Eagles 10 (Giants defense scores a TD)
If our D can hold up.....we may have a shot at this one. But Philly is always a nightmare there at the Linc.

It won't matter. Their front seven will bogart the Giants O-line , which will only flummox the already skittish QB
Blow me fair weather boy
We're going to have all kinds of trouble offensively again. This is going to look just like the first two games.

I think the Giants need a couple turnovers from the D and Beckham to break one or two to win. It's do-able.

I'm usually pretty optimistic but this offense has serious, serious problems and the Eagles have a quick, strong front 7.

We will absolutely need to win the turnover battle for one... the other part, I'm not sure if Beckham has that gear right now to make one of those gamebreaking plays.
He looks like he can play right now and can still be effective - but I think the ankle is still hampering that extra gear he usually has that you see on the plays where he takes quick slants the distance.
The Eagles aren't a juggernaut - it's a game that can be won. But given some of the putrid performances we've seen at the Linc in recent years and the matchup itself - I'm not feeling too great about it.
This offense has shown that they have a hell of a time playing from behind in the second half. They can't score quickly, and they become incredibly easy to play against if the opponent just does what they can to shorten the game.
I think they need to come out and play with urgency like it's a 15 minute game. Get yourself a touchdown lead and see if you can overcome the allergy to positive events.
