We win this week

jc in c-ville : 9/20/2017 1:53 pm
Laughable, nope.

This team has too much pride on the O (starting with Eli), a vet in Marshall, top 2 or 3 WR in the game and a energetic TE that has already made some plays - in only two games.

I get it. The O-line, scheme, spells doom based on what we have seen.

However, we have seen this story many times with the Giants where there is one game to right the ship.

First, thankfully, we're on the road. More than anything, this team needed to get out of NY for a game and in this case, two.

Secondly, our D is putting pressure on our O to perform. No, not necessarily Eli of course, but you can be sure that OBJ is going to be jacked and our O hasn't had the privilege of using him as intended pretty much all thru 2017.

Next, law of averages and the rivalry. If this team had a young QB without any weapons on the outside, like a bunch out there, I could see this festering all year. BM's seat just got really hot and really don't think you're going to see the status quo with him, and the play-calling this week. I see plenty of up tempo, slants to OBJ, Shepard- as well as throwing downfield more. With that, many here have seen the Giants/Eagles rivalry for decades. If the roles were reversed, I wouldn't want to see a desperate Eagles team come into our stadium. Many times, I believe more so than with any opponent, the Eagles match-up has a way of bringing out the best/worse in both of us- we have seen the worse already.

It cannot POSSIBLY get any fucking worse with this as there is no way we come out with the same bone-headed game plan/execution.

So, crucify me if you wish, but, we're leaving that city 1-2 with a much needed win on the road. Better yet, with Dallas at a very desperate Arizona and Washington hosting Oakland, I fully expect the Giants to wake up with the rest of the division next Tuesday at 1-2.
I agree

there is too much talent on this team for it to continue this way. Like I told someone earlier we are 1 game out of first place with 14 games to play..go win the division
I Love it!

We're a desperate wounded animal that everyone has already ridden off. it's now or never, way too much talent on this team. How sweet it will be to get a W in Philly.
Outside of Eli and Odell,

not seeing much pride or toughness on this offense and that's been part of the problem. Maybe they find it in Philly. I'd trade two losses for a win against the Iggles.
I'd like to believe you

This is how I felt about Monday night

At home, on national TV, coming off a big loss, and against a team they beat just a few games ago, I thought they would be fired up and play well. Boy was I wrong. Now i have no idea what they will do in Philly. I only know if they lose they will be 0-3 overall, 0-3 in the NFC, and 0-2 in the NFCE.
The only way I see the Giants winning
Matt in SGS : 9/20/2017 2:38 pm : link
is because I'm a believer that early in the season, the more desperate teams usually wins the game. The Giants should have all the sense of urgency. Think last year when Washington came in down 0-2 and beat the Giants. This is a gut check game for me with the Giants. If they lay an egg here, I question their heart and this thing will spiral out of control. If there ever was a game that is a man up game, this is it.
On the bright side to counter my totally negative outlook right now
lawguy9801 : 9/20/2017 2:41 pm : link
There's a Madden sim game on the Giants 24-7 Facebook site going now that has the game tied 7-7 in the 4th quarter. I'd take my chances with that.
They're front 7

Will absolutely annihilate our offense gang. I have zero hope in us winning, ever, in Philly.

Of course, I will root the whole way.

MUST WIN at 0-2 this is it. If not it blows up quickly.
Didn't see the score

but the Giants ended up winning the Madden sim.

I honestly have concerns over the character of this team or
BLUATHRT : 9/20/2017 3:21 pm : link
i'd be right with you. Marshall doesn't seem to care, and Flowers doesn't seem to enough. if that dynamic is different I can't see 0-3.

If we get blown out you might need to change that handle again.. 'well...bye McAdoo,Reese,Flowers,Hart,Eli, etc...' haha lets just hope we win!
Our O-line
BigBlueDownTheShore : 9/20/2017 3:27 pm : link
is going to get abused by the Eagles Defensive line.
Good post
blueblood'11 : 9/20/2017 3:42 pm : link
Very logical and when you look at past Giant teams you could make this case because of the type of players on those teams. You knew it was a matter of time and it would click. And they'd be on the thick of things.

Somehow I don't get that sense with this team. The defense has been solid and has kept them in games but it just doesn't seem to translate to the offense. They look lost. And now they are going to have to deal with a revved up Eagle defense who would love nothing but to drive another nail in the Giants coffin.

Bottom line is all the pressure is going to be on the defense unfortunately to win this game. Problem is they are not going to shut the Eagles out. But for the offense to suddenly turn things around against a very good defense that's almost too much to ask. Especially the way this offense has no mojo. I hope I'm wrong but the truth is they may be the ones getting shut out. Of that happens McAdoo may have to come home incognito.
Couldn't agree more..

The Eagles front four is built for one thing, to create pressure on the QB. That dline is not like the Giants dline where it's balanced to stop the run and get pressure, it's primary goal is to relentlessly put pressure on the QB at all cost. With the issues the Giants Oline have currently, It's very hard to feel positive about this game..
What I fear
blueblood'11 : 9/20/2017 4:03 pm : link
If the Eagles jump on top by say ten points I cannot see this Giant offense being capable of playing from behind. This team starts games like when you go into a pool or the ocean. You test it with your toe or you slowly but surely slink your way into the water. Then when you finally get acclimated it's too you're playing from behind and aren't able to mount any kind of a sustainable threat.
How could you feel good about this team's chances against Eagle D
joe48 : 9/20/2017 4:15 pm : link
I would be very surprised if anything changes. Not only did OL play horrible Monday night but special teams gave up big play and defense could not get off the field on 3rd down. No confidence in HC. Eagle front 7 will run Eli out of the stadium.
Hahahaha.

However this is macadoos first time pulling out a huge win and getting this team ready to play after such a tough 0-2 start. Coughlin always got us to show up after tough losses. In other words when everyone counted us out Coughlin was at his best. Now let's see what Mac can do.
McAdoo

faces his first crisis game. Plenty of football left, either way. Philadelphia is good. They actually played a very competitive road game last week at a brutal place to play. Still I think the Giants have the means to make the worm turn on this season. Everyone has to do more, including the coaches.
Setting yourself up for disappointment.

Hope for the W and expect the L. This team has shown NOTHING to date that inspires confidence.
Eagles are

also coming off a loss and it is there home opener and the Giants have not played well against the eagles in that building the last few years. If fact they have embarrassed us. This will be a tough game no mater how you slice it giant defense better get off the field something they have not done well yet. As for the offense well help us god
its about the offensive line, as it will be all season
fame56 : 9/20/2017 7:44 pm : link
its due for a shakeup, but, is this the week and the team to do it against?

cant keep flowers at LT, just cant...are u gonna throw the rookie wheeler in there against the eagles?..would he do much worse?

or put pugh there and wheeler on the other side with jones at LG?

eagles are going to be jacked up again for this one
micky : 9/20/2017 8:22 pm : link
I serious fear Eli will not make it out this game..and it's not being over dramatic or etc.

cringe at this game

Nope.

This is your heart talking. I was very optimistic going into this season given the Marshall signing, Hart having another offseason and the offseason reports of Flowers' improvement.

But this oline has been exposed in two games against weak defensive fronts. There's zero evidence to suggest that they will miraculously play better against a vastly superior front than they've faced in the first two games just because they are desperate. MacAdoo also seems clueless when it comes to scheming to help but it's also hard to double TWO DEs. When your OL is this bad, there's really no way to scheme around it.

I hate to say it, but this team's cooked. It's headed for the NFC East cellar and a top ten (five?) draft pick. It totally sucks and I'm as frustrated and disappointed as anyone.
