No Giant RB has run for 1,000+ since 2012

gmen9892 : 9/21/2017 10:04 am
That was the last time this team had any semblance of a running game. With Ahmad Bradshaw at the helm. Below are the TOTALS rushing for each of the past 5 years. Also included the Green Bay stats since 2014 (when McAdoo took over the offense), whos offense Ben is trying to emulate,

2012: 1,862 (14th in NFL)
2013: 1,332 (29th)
2014: 1,603 (23rd) GB: (11th)
2015: 1,609 (18th) GB: (12th)
2016: 1,412 (29th) GB: (20th)
2017: 97 (32nd) GB: (27th)

Note that even though GB is no juggernaut in the run game, they have a decent one. This makes the offense tick and keeps defenses honest. Hard to have an even average offense without ANY running game to speak of.

Michael Lombardi said it best on his Ringer podcast. McAdoo has chauffeur knowledge of the Packer offense. He runs the Packer offense, but doesnt know how to adjust it. This team does not have as good of a running game as they did/do in GB and they do not have as mobile of a QB as they do, but Ben doesnt know how to scheme around this. That is a problem.
Hard to have a 1000 yard runner

when your running game is RB by Committee.....

Giant front office tried to fix this by making Wilson the #1 pick, instead of drafting an OLman number one.....we had to fix the OL.....we needed a plan to get back to the SB...instead of drafting a plan to get back there by creating building blocks for this team, we tried to get back to the SB every year, and further deteriorated the talent level....

Years 2012-2013 should have been used to rebuild the team around Eli....instead, 6 years later what do we have now?
Which is about

how long the OL has sucked
Right

The OL hasn't been good at run blocking or pass blocking since 2012. How can one expect to have even an average offense with that kind of play from the OL?

Committee or not, those overall numbers are close to what some teams are getting from one running back, let alone a whole group of them.
Also hard to get a running game going

when you don't commit to it. When you only carry the ball like 15 times a game, your probably not even going to get 100 yards, unless you get some big runs. This team, much like Green Bay, is committed moreso to passing first and foremost. You're not going to have a 1,000 yard rusher, unless the guy is very dynamic. The bigger issue, with the running game in this offense, is the yards per carry average. If you're only getting 1.9 yards per carry, you're going to always be in 3rd and long situations or not have the ability to convert.

And if you recall, the Giants gambled they could get another season out of their o-line (Diehl, Snee, Boothe, Baas) going into 2013 after the second half of the season we showed cracks of deterioration.

Next thing you know, 0-6.

Fast forward 4 years, and we did the same thing. Now we are reliving the same nightmare as before.
Shocking!

Can't be right!
This OL is gold, Jerry!!!!
Ok, gold dust.
Ok, fool's gold. There.
if any of the Giants RBs hit the streets as a FA

only one would get a job--Vereen. And even that is subject to debate but lets say for the sake of argument that Vereen would play the 3rd down role somewhere else. Maybe, and I mean MAYBE, Perkins would get a cup of coffee somewhere else. He definitely wouldn't start. Gallman would land somewhere too but we don't play him. Why I don't know...

I don't understand why fans can't kill the OL AND the RBs too. They can both suck. And they do.
all I know is

the Giants had a golden opportunity to draft a damn good looking RB prospect in this year's draft. A draft that everyone agreed was loaded at RB. They had a chance add some sizzle to the position. And instead, they draft Gallman, bury him on the bench and hand PErkins the starting job before the weather even turned HOT.

McAdoo with another bang up personnel move.

You are not wrong. The RB's since 2012 have been below average as well.

While the RB's have not been good it's difficult to even evaluate them when they are constantly being hit as soon as they get the ball thanks to this "supposed" offensive line.
