Some of you guys are film junkies who record Giant games and re-watch them; I have two questions for you.
No doubt the running game has sucked so far this year in 2017 no matter who the running back has been when they try to run up the gut. And IMO when they do run, 90% has been up the gut and unsuccessful. I've seen on many runs the running back get hit before reaching the line.
In regard to Perkins:
?1] On his runs up the gut were there any holes for him to run through, either straight in front of him or slightly to either side of him?
?2] From my memory [I'm in my 60's] last year Perkins didn't run too many times right up the gut between the center and the guards. Last year if I recall correctly he ran mostly outside either guard [between G and OT] giving him an opportunity to pick a hole inside the line if there was one [either side of the guard] or bounce it outside depending on what the DE did.
With this method it actually made the OL look to be somewhat better over the last 5 games.
And with the running game somewhat better the passing game was easier.
So the big question is: Is McAdoo using Perkins the same way he was used as last year when he started to look good over the last five games or has McAdoo out smarted himself by changing things up?
.
What I saw from Perkins last year was, Perkins had the ability to go through a hole and make the first guy miss him.....he has not had that chance to show that ability....the hole is not there.....
No one has addressed that question!
Most of us agree the OL sucks at pass blocking and opening holes right up the gut, but McAdoo keeps running there.
Why not run more between the guard and tackle to give Perkins and others more options, especially if they can make guys miss which is harder to do in the middle of the line?
Perkins is so slow he can't turn the corner. He can't out run DE's much less linebackers.
Thats an amazing stat. I guess he was hit behind the LOS all the time. This offense continues to create unbelievable stats, and not in a good way.
There have been some small creases at times. Perkins problems from what I can see is that he has been a bit hesitant to hit the holes - showing patience but things haven't developed. Also he is not continuing to move forward on contact. He's not making people miss consistently. We haven't really seen him be a "hard to tackle" type running back.
When I watch the Giants on run defense this year there are very few holes for the other team to exploit. What has happened to their advantage is they have hit the lOS with authority and kept driving their legs, picking up 3-4 yards in the process.
I wish we had a hard runner, a Marshawn Lynch-type, but we don't. Still, Perk needs to be a little angrier about moving his body forward imho.
Simple question. Would a better RB gain more yards here?
If you say no, I give up.
move the pile it really doesn't matter .
He was a what 7th round pick can't complain about where we took him . Watching Kareem Hunt brings tears to my eyes he
needs so little room them boom he is through the line and
runs tougher than I thought he would .
