Since Eli entered the league in 2004, the Giants are 10-18 vs the Eagles (including playoffs).
However, in 1 pm day games in Philadelphia since 2004, the Giants are 5-1 against the Eagles.
The last time the Giants played the Eagles in their home opener was in 2011. That game was also Week 3 with the Giants playing a Monday night home game Week 2 (Giants hosted the Rams on Monday night Week 2 in 2011). The Giants won the 2011 matchup 29-16 and we all know how that season ended.
In every season of the Eli Manning era, if the Giants win the first Eagles game, they make the playoffs. If they lose the first Eagles game, they miss the playoffs.
The last stat emphasizes just how important this game is. Let's hope the Giants right the ship this week and pick up a huge W in Philly!
Right now I find nothing similar to 2007, which is what a lot of people pull out as their beacon for 0-2 starts and ultimate success. In 2007 we had a Veteran team, with a lot of leadership up and down the team. We also had a QB injured in week 1, so week 2 was no surprise that the team struggled and lost against GB.
Here, we are a much younger team in many areas and are made up of a bunch of guys who have not consistent success in the NFL. Hell, Brandon Marshall has not played in a playoff game. Our Oline is weak physically and mentally. Our QB is being cracked on by our own HC. I see no magical light turning on like it did in 2007!

To be fair, who foresaw a 'magical light' turning on in 2007? True, we were coming off a playoff year, but both 2005 and 2006 ended in bad playoff losses (2006 just because it was Philly) and I distinctly remember being furious with our defense after getting smoked by Green Bay in week 2, which followed an equally ugly performance in Week 1.
We also didn't have a good sense of what we had in Eli, Bradshaw had yet to break out, etc.
I hate to draw parallels to championship teams in the hope that there might be some relevance to the current situation, and it's true there was no unit on the 2007 squad that looked as bad as our OL does in 2017. But it's still too early to close the book on this season. A bad loss to Philly on Sunday will definitely cause me to change my tune, though.
Similarities maybe?
Rookies who found a role in 2nd half.
Veteran additions took a while to fit in.
