In this organization...... anyone care to guess were would we be right now if we didn't have a few bucks a couple of years ago and pick Vernon, Snacks and Jenkins in free agency.
More or less saved Jerry Reese's job, or I firmly believe he would've been on his way out the door with Coughlin. You don't spend a billion dollars in free agency because you've drafted well.....he gave us five years of literally no one who signed a second contract. It's been better lately obviously (Collins, Goodson, Shepherd) but we still have a severe lack of depth, and a massive problem at both offensive tackles. Very sad.
last year scored less than 20 points 10 times counting the playoffs. We won 5 of those. In those 3 of those games the defense/special teams scored TD's and account for 7, 7 and 6 of the points. (I am including the extra point if applicable)
Saints game- we score 16 points (7 by the defense)
Rams game- we score 17 points (7 by the defense)
Redskins game- we score 19 points (6 by the defense)
so take out the defense and our offense put up 9 against the Saints, 10 against the Rams and 13 against Skins. That isn't even looking at turnovers that led directly to points (turnovers in their territory)..
Was that they made a number of poor draft choices and chose not to re-sign them when their rookie contracts were up.
If the Giants did NOT have a lot of money a few years ago it would have meant that they previously made a number of GREAT draft choices and had to spend the money to re-sign them.
There's no way they would have been stuck with both crappy players and no money to sign new ones.

Our offense has been bad for a while..
