Sending my parents to Rome in a few months, and looking for some advice for things for them to do. They are both in their early 60s, so not really looking into the party/club scene. Dad does love good wine though, and I am sure they will want to check out a few good restaurants as well. Thanks in advance for your help.
Also, Rick Steves is a great resource as well.

If you can rebook, send them to Florence, theres a magic floating around in that city that I never experienced anywhere else.
I just find the history fascinating. Also like with any city, you can find some good food and touristy food. I did find the pasta anywhere very good though, even the take-out plces.

I sort of agree with this although I thought Venice was the most overrated city. I don't disagree with what you are saying but if you have never been there before it has a ton to see so that alone is worth it. I too was not impressed with the food there but we just went to some random places. One place we went to was nice.
Florence was awesome and we also went to Positano. The Amalfi Coast is amazing but it is a ton of walking and that might be too much for them at their age. Hell, I was like 32 when I went and I felt like I was gonna have a heart attack. Haha.
Il Convivio Troiana was also really cool and unique
Chris in philly had a really good recommendation for a simple restaurant too but I can't remember name.
Also have them take a train to Naples one day and do a driving tour of amalfi coast. Beautiful scenery and positano was really unique.

Holy shitfuck the food is horrible in Rome...?????
Just when you thought you'd heard everything on BBI...
Rome always gets a bad rap, along with Venice, but if you like archeology/history, it's just unbelievable.
If your parents are going by themselves, I'd imagine they'd appreciate a tour/private guide. Don't have them navigate public transportation on their own. Viators have a lot of tours, and they are generally pretty good.
Aside from the usual stuff/famous landmarks, I'd recommend visiting the catacombs outside the city.
Sicily, Malta, Corfu, Kotor, Dubrovnik, Korsula, Split, Koper and Venice. With lectures from world-class professors while at sea. It's done in conjunction with Scientific American. I have been tracking this tour operator for five years, waiting for the right itinerary and time of year. Itinerary linked.
I am very psyched.

I too much prefer Florence -- I had magical experiences there as well
I also prefer Vienna and London -- and didn't like Milan
Enjoy
