NFT: Refrigerator recs

Hey there our compressor last night made some crazy noises and ultimately the fridge started leaking drops of water out of the back. It may have been a fluke problem but I'm not risking it. I've wanted a garage fridge for some time.

Ultimately we're looking for a stainless true counter depth fridge - quality item. We're going to redo the rest of the kitchen inside 2 years after we get all the windows replaced.

Any recs would be appreciated. We cook and entertain so a thin fridge that delivers the goods with young kids is what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance.

The one thing I would recommend considering that we really like is to look for one with the freezer on the bottom. We got that and I love to not have to bend down to look for things in the fridge. The freezer you frequent much less often than the fridge section.

every kitchen I do if and when I can I hide a recess in the wall behind the fridge so I can fit a full size (and cheaper usually) fridge in there with the look and profile of a counter depth. More storage, less limitations on future fridge replacement, it's a win win as long as you have the extra 6 inches or so in the wall behind.

Otherwise I'd go with a built in fridge it's a nicer look for not much more money.
We won't have the wall depth for behind but

after 25 years and found out that the dimensions are different now. The width we had is a bit harder to find now. The new ones are also taller which limited us with the height of the cabinet above the fridge. We ended up with a Whirlpool stainless steel French-door fridge with a bottom drawer freezer. Best Buy had a great deal (bought it 4th of July weekend) with 18 months of 0% interest. The next sale may be Columbus Day if you can wait.
My LG went this week as well

Only 6 years old. Had a tech out to see if it was worth fixing and peppered the guy with some questions. He said the French door fridges have the most issues because the ice maker and water spout are in the door, so piping and fans need to be routed there. He recommended going with a no frills model if we were looking for longevity. He also recommended GE over the other brands and his company was LG certified.

We have a corporate discount with GE so we settled on the Profile with the French doors. Went and saw it tonight and the unit feels sturdy enough although the freezer shelving felt a tad flimsy.
One of these if you can afford the finance

Agree with aimrocky on the GE Profile French door bottom freezer. We had all GE appliances when we built our home 20 years ago and they were so bad we swore we wouldn't buy GE again. But the appliance dealer said this GE refrig was highest rated and had the fewest number of repair calls with LG being a close second.
Dimensions were virtually identical to our 25 cu fter and it is 28 cu fter. Since my wife loves the thing, it must be pretty good.

Only thing I don't like is having to open both door to access the deli drawer. It has limited on the door storage, but it has storage on both with the left door holding the water/ice dispenser.
recently bought a Whirlpool

that we like. They are the manufacturer of some other American brands.

Stay away from Samsung appliances, imo. Don't know about the other South Korean brand, LG.
our Whirlpool

is also French door style. That's what the wife wanted; not sure i'm crazy about it (think I prefer the side by side) and don't think the wife likes the French style as much as she thought she would. But we're happy with Whirlpool.
