The 5 years the Los Angeles Rams played under Jeff Fisher, the Rams only scored more than 40 points twice.
In 3 games under NEW headcoach McVay, they already matched that total.
What's new this year? Replacing first round bust Greg Robinson at left tackle with Andrew Whitworth. This isn't meant to be a "Jerry Reese sux thread", but just wanted to point out to those how badly Flowers impacts our offense to those who say it's broken or Eli sucks.
We desperately need to get Eli some help.
We could have drafted him, though.... he went the pick after Flowers.
Oy.
People in this very thread are criticizing the Giants for taking a TE instead of OL and also criticizing them for taking OL instead of a RB. It seems people want to take OL at all costs, until they suck. Then the Giants should have taken another player. And I'm not talking about you, arc, I just found it funny that no matter who they take, people will criticize it if it doesn't work out. Hell I've seen people in the past couple of days say they should draft OL in the first 3 rounds next season. Not knowing who will be available or if they are any good at all. Just take them because they play OL!
Just sucks that Reese has such a good track record in the 1st rd and the one really notable whiff is Flowers.. the one we needed to pan out in the worst way. Even just be steady if not above-average.
Frustrating, but what can you do.

I hear ya. I wanted Gurley in the worst way that year. When he made it to their pick I was freaking out. Then they took Flowers. I was hoping they seen something in him and they obviously needed OL help so I didn't really mind the pick. It looks awful now and that's exactly why you can't force OL in the draft, like people are suggesting.
It would have forced an EF move to RT or hopefully, RG, for EF. It would have left the FO multiple choices in the off season: hit FA for an OL, draft a LT or a RT and let him develop for a year(or insert immediately), give Wheeler a chance to bulk up for either T spot, given them an opportunity to evaluate if EF is a NFLer or a a TOTAL bust, or some combo of the preceding list.
MOST OF ALL, it'd give Eli more confidence in being able to trust the left side with AW and JP; AND, maybe we'd see what the Mc O scheme really CAN do.
But, alas, who needs an OL when you have WEAPONS,right?

Well Gurley is averaging a whopping 3.8 YPC this season. So, yeah.
Which means WATCH OUT ELI!!

Not sure what your point is? As usual I'm sure there is no point. Are you suggesting Gurley isn't a better player than Erik Flowers?
UCLA’s RB Paul Perkins is among nation’s best for yards after contact - ( New Window )

There is something to be said about a runner who is able to take a 2 yard gain and make it 4 on his own. Perkins is not that guy. When he gets touched, that's it. Play over. He's not making any yardage after contact.
So, what happened to this guy? UCLA’s RB Paul Perkins is among nation’s best for yards after contact - ( New Window )
The Giants would love to know the answer.
Whitworth was a no-brainer.
I don't blame him for going to the Rams, but at the end of the day he didn't want to win a championship, he just wanted to get the big pay day.
We did what could with the limited resources we had at our disposal. Now the year we fixed the defense, we could have allocated some resources to the line, instead of going all out on 3 guys.
Oh please. And paying a guy with 3 fingers who gets hurt every year was a great move? Whitworth would of single handily made this offense better I don't care how old he is, I am sick and tired of fans complaining about age.back in 2000 Acorsi went out and signed Glenn Parker who was 34 and Lomas Brown who was 37 and both of them helped that team get to a super bowl. If whitworth was signed and did the same thing who cares how old he is, we are running out of time with Eli, one playoff appearance since 2012 with a franchise qb is a joke.
him out there at LT .
Tuna would have benched him last year and replaced him .
Love this point. I think Martin has had a bigger effect on Dallas than Donald has had on the Rams. Now it's not Donald's fault that the O was so bad but for a guy who gets a lot of push as the best defender in the NFL the Rams D has never been transformed like the Texans when Watt showed up. Yes he's great and a All Pro but I wonder if like Suh if he will be worth what he will get paid when he is a FA.
Not true. Some here wanted to be aggressive at Oline versus status quo...
We will see what happens this off season. Guaranteed we go nuts patching up the line. The last time we were embarrassed like this was a couple of years ago on defense. We set records for how bad our defense was and we went out and spent money the following year.

didn't want Whitworth due to his price. It was his agar and price combination, and the thought of investing that much in a guy who can de line at any moment. It's a huge risk, but so is not doing anything at all so it looks like a lose lose for the Giants.

You missed his point - he said that the only reason the people here who objected to Whitworth's signing was due to his age, not his cost.
but its moot now...

Gave up 39 points. To the 49ers. For all the slobbering that BBI does over Donald, what is the Rams record since he's been there? We kill Beckham because he hasn't won a Super Bowl yet, so he's not an important player, but we ignore the wins/losses when it comes to Donald for some reason. We just say "we could have had Donald!".
"We kill Beckham because he hasn't won a Superbowl yet"?
When have we ever expected the Giants to win the Superbowl since he's been here? I've literally never seen that statement before.
Hahaha I was going to say the same thing. This is made up, no one has ever "killed" Beckham for not winning a Superbowl

You guys should open your eyes. It's been referred to on here plenty, specifically when talking about whether they should sign him to a long term deal. It's usually the brain dead "trade him" crowd, but people have absolutely brought up the fact that the Giants haven't won since he's been there. Not made up at all, it's a fact.
