Coming off a Super Bowl year.

Almost as much as the next time the Giants won the Super Bowl and he waited until May to resign. After Belicheck had already left for Cleveland.
Belicek

Was not in line to be the next coach. That is why he took the job in Cleveland.
No one has the kind of

foresight to say either way if Belechick would have been a success here in New York or not? I've heard so many times that he was not ready based on what took place in Cleveland, but let's face it, the Browns have been a losing organization since the Reagan administration and then some!
Belechick may have been a big success right out of the gate in New York based on knowledge of the team! Or he may have been over his head? We will never know, but based on what we know now, I'd vote for a do-over.
don't forget how Parcells screwed Dungy at Tampa

and screwed lil Bill at the Jets too. He has a history.

Maybe not, but it doesn't excuse Parcells from making the ultimate dick move and not letting us at least find out for sure Belichick was moving on.
Still haunts me too.

I think Parcells was blocking him

It was George Young. Young didn't think little Bill would be a good head coach.

This. Young didn't think Belichick was ready to be a head coach. Handley was groomed for the spot underneath Erhardt. The Giants thought he was a bright, young offensive coach, which is what they want after being under a defensive minded coach for years.

I've written about this before. The Giants should have made Ron Erhardt the head coach and promoted Handley to offensive coordinator in 1991 once Parcells left. Handley went from position coach, to leaving for law school, to offensive coordinator, to head coach in the matter of a couple of months. He didn't have a chance to grow into the job. Erhardt had decent success with the Patriots in the 1970s. You then groom Handley for 2 years or so and see if he was ready. Essentially, this is what the Giants did with McAdoo when they pushed out Gilbride. McAdoo was much better in year 1 than Handley. Year 2...the jury is out.
Cost us another Super Bowl

probably. We were that good after the 86 season. Just bad luck for everyone who bleeds Giant blue.

That was a big FU to Ownership for siding w Young too often and not letting him draft Darien Connor instead of Hampton. Lol

More to it than That obviously.

As for Bill B he may have left anyway but if Parcells had quit after the season there never would have been a RH that's for
Sure.
