but he’s only 25. He’s gone in 2 years which aligns with the rest of the roster. I think Dougie Buckets has upside. Chicago 2nd should be a borderline late first. I like it. Moving Carmelo is also addition by subtraction so the fact that we got any value is a big win
Neither is that much of a loss. Kanter is a very good scorer but bad defensive player. Same with McDermitt. That said I don't know what they will do with Melo. He doesn't seem like a fit with a team with Westbrook and George. Well they won't lack for scoring talent.
I feel like we finally have a nice young core. We have a basketball man running the show too-

It's been awhile, but I can finally get back into this team.
I'm with you, but I don't know about KP at SF. More likely Kanter will back up Willy at C, I think. But if you're right that's some serious size on the front line.
can be a free agent this summer and has nowhere to play on this team. McDermott might be something but he's due for an extension. Maybe if they turn Kanter into something they can extract more value from this deal....but as of now this could end up as trading Melo for a second rounder. Would have been nice to get Ferguson.

I think Melo "fits" there simply because he's no longer the best player on this team, and it's not particularly close. Play him 30 mins, run the offense through him when the other two are out of the game, and have him off the ball when they're all out there. I'll be rooting for him to succeed.

Out of curiosity, how did you become a Thunder fan? I'm not judging, I'm just surprised because you may be the first OKC fan I've ever come across, lol.
but for once I don't think you could beef with how the Knicks handled this. They took it as long as they could and didn't settle for taking any bad contracts back. Despite what some said here this needed to be taken care of before the season. They wanted to bench him or play him 20 minutes a night. I understand as fans you react on emotion and a whim, and just say "screw'em let him rot!" but this franchise needs to start rehabilitating its image. The quicker we move on the better. Having this thing turn into a front page mess in-season was not what we needed if we want to build something players want to come play for.
Bottom line is they didn't take back any shitty contracts Â

eh, one way a team can rehabilitate its image is by not being a pushover in negotiations. Looks like they were operating under a self imposed deadline...and it resulted in a paltry return, not to mention potentially taking on salary (assuming Melo would have opted out and Kanter opts in).
But this is same team that overpaid for a D-league player and gave him a player option, so this is par for the course.

ummm no you move on by not having a front page circus dragging on for months between you and your star. Caved? they've been talking trade for 6 months. This is the best they could do and it wasn't going to get magically better.

My wife is from OKC and we go out there a lot. My nefew has tickets so we see games when we go. Became a Thunder and OU fan.
I like him. What's the draft pick we get?
Could we have done better with this trade?
Quote:
2018 second rounder is the pick.
Could we have done better with this trade?

If you expected more than this you were living in fantasy land? Isn't kanter pretty good? I will take this and run. So long melo.

Dare I say I won't want to vomit watching a young knicks team. If they win, great, if they lose tank get the pick and fire horn. Win win.

Knicks have a young team and will have cap space.
Plus they still have pieces to help at the deadline for draft picks.
