But on game day, kick off a few hours away, broaching the subject of what the Giants should do if they finish in the bottom 3 of the league, is kind of annoying. Hopefully the Giants are a bit mentally tougher than us.
However, that said, you always draft a possible franchise quarterback

Agree Joe, you draft one of the top QBs if you like them.
That said, I think our mental capacity on Sept 24th can withstand chatting about these types of possibilities. In the end, the most difficult thing many of us have to worry about today is what to eat for lunch...
I bet you were part of the draft Robert Gallery crowd.
Yes he didn't work out. There is a long list of QB's who didn't work out too, should we start listing them too? Until you fix the line nothing on offense will work, and no more additional skill players will help. We've got great skill players already.
This. I wouldn't let Reese pick a QB though. If this team winds up w a top
3 pick they really need to clean house.
What is odd is that Reese will keep drafting DBs and DL if he misses on them. Also sign FAs but if they pick up an offensive lineman he gets plugged in and they don't even try to bring in competition via draft or FA
If the guy flounders
How do you identify a franchise qb? Is it somebody like BobIII or
Colon Crap-O-Pick, or a Booby Hoyer, or Sam Bradford? If you could point at a qb and say that's the guy then every team would have a franchise qb. It just ain't that easy.
If he was available he'd prob be the pick. Reese has never picked his guy and neither has McAdoo. Doesn't solve the problem but that's probably the direction they go.
If it comes to that they better trade Eli for picks and/or OL help. This OL will ruin any QB.
too early to say whether the Giants should draft a QB with a top 10 pick. But as others have said, there is a real risk to doing so. The NFL draft is littered with QBs taken in the first round the failed. They might not want to take that risk, especially with Webb on the roster.
Last year they made the horrible decision to draft Webb 3rd and then the wasted Gallman pick afterwards. Compound that with everyone indicated this would be the year of the QB in the draft. REESE is a complete moron and thinks he is smarter than everyone else, he will force them to put the Webb kid in before he drafts another QB.
I think that the target should be Saquon Barkley, the RB from Penn State. Watched him twice already this year- mix of blazing speed to get to the corner and down the field on the jet sweep, while having the power to literally pancake defensive linemen running up the middle.
He also showed Barry Sanders-like jump stop ability AND more importantly, the vision to find the hole, even if the hole is not where they play was called.
He hasn't shown much in the pass game, though he appears to catch what is thrown at him- and he had a couple nice blitz pickups in pass pro.
IMO, he is not as powerful a dead-ahead runner as Elliott, but he shows more of a complete back package. Normally, you don't draft a RB that high, but I think Barkley would cure a LOT of ills in the run game.
Darkwa has the right idea in the run game, but he is NOWHERE near the athlete and instinctive runner Barkley looks like.

We did this exact thing with Flowers. Just saying draft an OT is the answer is not correct. The way we evaluate OL needs to be re-evaluated.

As said by others, OLine is more of a need, although FA proven linemen are more desirable.
