It would refreshing to see us line up with Ellison next to Flowers and Adams next to Pugh and try to establish the run and take some pressure off of the line when it comes to a pass rush.
One can dream!
Those obvious run formations are good for when you know you can Â
run block. They can also be really easily defended when you can't.
Adding to that, running out of obvious run formations doesn't really slow the pass rush to take any pressure off the OL. They'll need to run effectively out of neutral/passing formations (and pass out of obvious run formations). That's really the only way to cheat the OL deficiencies.
looking for different formations and creative play calling however we can't run AND pass block. You can't run an offense if your OL can't do 100% of the two components of their job.
I honestly don’t think running the same I formation the entire first have would yield lesser results than what McAdoo’s been getting.
The McAdoo offense is essentially this, 11 personnel set, OBJ 5 yard slant, pray Eli can get him the ball before he gets decked and then another prayer that OBJ can shake triple coverage and take it to the house. Every few plays, OBJ gets a breather when Eli hands the ball to (fill in the blank at JAG/RB) for a 2.5 yard dive off tackle. If it’s 3rd and 4 to gain, maybe a 3 yard quick hitch to Shep who will fall down a yard short of the first down. Mix in a few holding calls and some vicious sacks on Eli and you’ve got the Ben McAdoo shit show offense.

We don't try to run, so how can you even say we can't. They need more reps at everything. You will never establish the run by barely handing the ball off.
