Never liked Cam. Don’t like the Panthers. In fact, seeing the Panthers and Cam Newton get turned out in the Super Bowl may have been one of the most enjoyable non-NFC-East games I’ve enjoyed watching.
I wonder if there would be any outrage if - say - Aaron Rodgers stood at the podium and and answered the same question the same way: “Yeah, it’s just funny to hear a Puerto Rican talk about routes”. John Lennon wrote a song called “Woman is the [N word] of the World”. He was right then and he’s still right.

After the news conference, Rodrigue wanted to find Newton and talk about what he said. She did catch up with him briefly. The conversation, according to Rodrigue, was not taped but went something like this:
She asked the quarterback if he really didn’t think a female could understand routes.
Newton said she wasn’t really seeing specific routes when watching the game, she was just seeing if somebody was open. She argued that he didn’t know what she saw nor how hard she had studied football, and that maybe the two of them needed to have a deeper conversation.
Newton said that maybe he should have said it was funny to hear “reporters” talk about routes and that, if she actually did know about them, then she knew more than most reporters. Then he gestured toward the locker room, still filled with her colleagues.
Rodrigue ended by asking Newton – whom she had introduced herself to on the first day of her employment with The Observer in October 2016 – if he knew her name after she had covered the team almost every day for the past year.
Newton said he did not.
“Jourdan Rodrigue, Charlotte Observer,” she said, and then walked away.

She really told him.. Sounds like this is being blown a little out of proportion.
Not sticking up for his poor choice of words but you really can't say anything anymore. Everyone is so sensitive. You're bound to upset someone.
It isn't just about the words. This is one of those cases where a picture paints a thousand of them.
I'll just put it this way. if a co-worker of mine acted exactly the same way Newton does in that video after I asked a question about something technical, I remove that person from the list of people I want to deal with.
If she came back with "it's funny to hear meathead quarterbacks try to form sentences and show an inability to use adverbs correctly. Mr. Newton I believe you meant that 'Fun is from Detroit and we know he wants this win extremely badLY
Everyone step out of their PC responses for 2 seconds... Â
Sure, male football fans outnumber female football fans, probably by a ratio of 50-1. That doesn't mean a female sports reporter asking about routes is so absurd it's funny.

"Maybe he's right and I don't know anything about football, because he's been my fantasy starting QB and killed me for 3 out of 4 weeks"
but that strengthens Cams point. cause if your wife was knowledgeable about football, she wouldnt have made Cam her starting QB. knowing he was coming off a late shoulder surgery and hadnt practiced or played in the preseason.
I think female reporters in the lockerroom are still at least somewhat stigmatic. I think most of us would be surprised if many of the women we know asked an intelligent football question, but wouldn't it be a really pleasant surprise? To be so dismissive and shitty about a question that is probably more well thought-out than about 90% of the questions these guys get based solely on gender really says a lot about Cam Newton.
Maybe she can be psychical on her routes with route 9
(But yeah, in all honesty that was a pretty dumb useless question she did ask)
I didn't think so. Especially if the player in question has been struggling with physicality in routes (she's a beat reporter, so there may be a theme that's developed since camp, or more recently - we don't know).
And sometimes questions are somewhat flat, and even dumb. But! As a reporter who's been in locker rooms after college and professional sports teams, an occasional dumb question may lead to additional talk that helps a story, or even spurs a different one.
Again, as a former sportswriter, it's mind-numbingly tough with many pro athletes to get them to say anything outside the Bull Durham bus ride tutorial, so anything that helps break them out of that mold is a start, at times.
I know zero about this reporter, but on its face, the question doesn't strike me as incredibly outlandish.
like using this reasoning when people fuck up, don't you?

Who call Cam Newton a scum bag, even bothered to research all the good deeds on this guy s resume in regards to reaching out to others.
Guy makes a politically incorrect statement, and all of a sudden that out weighs all the good he has done.
What a world.
I think I heard something similar about JoePa. You know, that guy molded so many football players into great men, but aid a serial pedophile and that outweighs all the good that's been done.
What a world.
RE: Everyone step out of their PC responses for 2 seconds... Â
More right if referring to most beat writers not understanding routes, route trees, etc. Many of these guys and girls are more concerned with getting entertaining blurbs for online blogs and gaining likes and clicks. Just the way it's become.
It's why BBI salivates at the first sight of an actual article posted here that goes into great detail about anything "inside" the game. Myself included in that crowd.

How many times have we heard that Ted Bundy was a "nice guy."
can't make up the fact that a whole segment of Central PA still worships a man who implicitly (and possibly expicitly) allowed pedophelia to occur. Why? Because he was a football coach?
I hardly think getting a smacked back a little in the press because you make an idiotic comment is outrage.
Exactly.
I don't see much outrage. Just a lot of heads shaking at what an idiot he is. OH WAIT! He's a millionaire who spends money to help people and causes. I may not be able to say he's an idiot.
using his platform to protest inequalities in the country (Cam put his head down and raised his fist after one of his TDs last week... after doing his superman celebration, of course).
Yet he goes and does this?
He's a fraud and everything he does is motivated by getting attention - not out of the goodness of his heart

He answered her question in a thoughtful manner so was not dismissive of it at all. If he were dismissive, he would not have answered it or he would have given a non-answer. Not sure how his answer was either shitty and dismissive.

Better ask for a refund on the Masters degree there, pal.
ok Scott
I don't wanna fuss with you. so have a good night sir

ehhh. thats a stretch
can i ask you this question....
is it funny to hear a female talk about the physicality of certain routes?

What an idiot Cam is.
Also, got to love him celebrating when he is winning and pouting like a little baby when shit doesn't go his way.

Lol that's true, he just said -- twice -- that it's funny to hear a female talk about routes, laughing and smirking the entire time.
Touche?

But in true bbi fashion, you and beezer, not really having any legitimate comeback to my original point, do what you do so well:
Yell real loud, call names, change the subject and attack the integrity of a person you know nothing about.
For a guy who often makes some good points, your response to my post is just stupid and typical.
You want to defend a comment relating Newton to Bundy, but attack me for pointing out the fact that he has done many good things.
Well thought out my friend.
america is fucked.
Yet he goes and does this?
He's a fraud and everything he does is motivated by getting attention - not out of the goodness of his heart
That you still defended him even after the most recent evidence?
Am I getting that wrong? Is that attacking your "integrity", or is it pointing out something that is pretty well evident in your posts about him?
Please enlighten me.
He then goes and judges a reporters work due to her sex.
Brilliant on Cam's part. Absolutely brilliant
