Its not that the hits arent coming, its that the outs are so soft. theyre not even close.
I don't give a shit how good this guy has been lately
Greg from LI : 10/5/2017 9:25 pm : link
This is embarrassing. He's not Sandy fucking Koufax.
thank you I will try
xman : 10/5/2017 9:27 pm : link
not surprised that gray didn't get through 5 but 3 1/3 is ugly. Hope CC does better but not expecting it.

Late Gray Comment
Percy : 10/5/2017 9:34 pm : link
It has usually seemed to that nothing he throws ever deceives the hitter. Very few swings and outright misses. Control is an issue as well: he gets behind too often. Only a couple of games pitched by him as a Yankee have been any good, and this wasn't one of them.

Not remotely true but, hey, everyone else spouts that same bullshit too so what difference does it make?

Two bad starts in a row but most of the games he's thrown as a Yankee have been good. Let's not generalize.

Control has never been an issue for him so it's strange to see it now. Home runs too

He's a 3/4 starter. Ideally in a 5 game series you wouldn't have to start him at all, but clearly the Yankees don't have that luxury. He needs to not be afraid to throw first pitch strikes. A lot of it is confidence
Well, at least my Garcia prediction was right
Greg from LI : 10/5/2017 9:39 pm : link

.
And now a cheap run. Awesome
Greg from LI : 10/5/2017 9:42 pm : link
Dribbler with eyes, two wild pitches, and a fly ball.

This is turning into a seriously aggravating game.
And while the Yanks are stinking the place up tonight anyway
Greg from LI : 10/5/2017 9:43 pm : link
This strike zone being this inconsistent isn t helping either.

1, 4 or 20 doesnt look like its gonna make a damn bit of difference tonight. we've been in the field the entire night.

Danny Kanell : 10/5/2017 9:44 pm : link
This is just a brutal game to watch. So fucking frustrating. Seems like our pitchers are behind the 8 ball on every at bat.
Romine next game?
B in ALB : 10/5/2017 9:44 pm : link
Or too reactive?

Sanchez has taken a beating back there tonight. And Game 2 is in like 19 hours.

He threw a bad game, that's it. Leave it at that
I like Gray
PaulBlakeTSU : 10/5/2017 9:44 pm : link
and he got squeezed on a couple pitches that could have made things easier for himself.

He was off tonight, and it's a shame that he couldn't give the team a strong or long outing.

But even if he had a great start tonight, the Yankees offense would still be getting no-hit with nothing more than a walk through 5 innings.

Slowly bleeding to death here.
bceagle05 : 10/5/2017 9:45 pm : link
Hot take: We're pounding Kluber tomorrow. Well, at least a run or two.

CC
Kyle in NY : 10/5/2017 9:47 pm : link
will be a much easier assignment for Gary tomorrow. Gray is pretty tough on a catcher. Whether he's throwing well or not.

Can't have Romine's bat in the lineup and his defense is nowhere near good enough to make up for it
Can anyone tell me why they started Gray
prdave73 : 10/5/2017 9:48 pm : link
instead of Garcia? I thought Garcia has been pitching a lot better heading to the post season??

A mid 90s Glavine/Maddux REGULAR SEASON zone
Gee what a shock to come on here and see the Sony Gray
Stu11 : 10/5/2017 9:52 pm : link
hatchet crowd out. Yes he sucked his last 2 times out. Prior to that his Era as Yank was 3.12
Bottom line the way Bauer is pitching its pretty academic. I pray we do something because I understand the Indians have played historic ball the past few months but the falating they are getting from this Fox crew from pitch 1 has been hard to take.
Hey, look, another bullshit call

he is a 3/4 starter depending on the team. On Cleveland he is a 4. On NY he is arguably their 2nd or 3rd best starter on any given night, but amongst CC, Tanaka and Gray it's a total crapshoot. I don't think Sonny Gray is a bad pitcher, far from it. Factoring in Oakland he had 17 QS in 27 starts, 3.55 ERA and 1.21 WHIP. It was a nice bounce back year from 2016
This ump

Who is this fucking ump?
B in ALB : 10/5/2017 9:57 pm : link
Holy shit. His strike zone is unreal. He expands it 6-8 inches for Cleveland every inning. Holy fuck holes.
Might as well take our chances against Miller.

.
Damn it!
BigBlueShock : 10/5/2017 9:58 pm : link
Anything within 8 inches of the plate is getting called a strike for Bauer. And spare me the "not that it makes a difference" bullshit. Of course it makes a difference! Headley and now Judge got completely screwed in this inning alone. That doesn't affect the game?

I can see if those pitches were going both ways... they're blatantly only going for strikes for Cleveland.
This umpire must
dune69 : 10/5/2017 9:58 pm : link
be on Lebron's payroll.
this ump
RasputinPrime : 10/5/2017 9:58 pm : link
can go suck off Bauer right now and get it over with. Not only did he K Headley and Judge on non-strikes in this inning, but he isn't calling strikes against Indian hitters.

One of the most lopsided games called this season. I can't believe the shit i'm seeing tonight.

How the fuck does a wingnut like Bauer get this treatment?
Oh, so on the best rotation in baseball Gray is a 4?
Greg from LI : 10/5/2017 9:58 pm : link
Thanks for clearing that up. And that's IF Bauer sustains his recent performance since Gray has been the much better pitcher over the course of their respective careers.
Bauer threw 92 pitches so far.
Ira : 10/5/2017 10:00 pm : link
My guess is they'll try to get all or part of another inning from him before going to their pen.
This dickhead had punched Judge out twice
Greg from LI : 10/5/2017 10:02 pm : link
Once on a ball off the plate inside, once off on the outside. It's like a six foot wide zone. Ridiculous.
There are some really bad

They've walked Perez twice now. There are no words.
You know what the icing on the cake of this game is?
