It has usually seemed to that nothing he throws ever deceives the hitter. Very few swings and outright misses. Control is an issue as well: he gets behind too often. Only a couple of games pitched by him as a Yankee have been any good, and this wasn't one of them.

Two bad starts in a row but most of the games he's thrown as a Yankee have been good. Let's not generalize.
Control has never been an issue for him so it's strange to see it now. Home runs too

He's a 3/4 starter. Ideally in a 5 game series you wouldn't have to start him at all, but clearly the Yankees don't have that luxury. He needs to not be afraid to throw first pitch strikes. A lot of it is confidence

The comments on Gray have gotten so absurd. How good is your rotation that you're not starting him at all in a series? Now he's a 4th starter?
hatchet crowd out. Yes he sucked his last 2 times out. Prior to that his Era as Yank was 3.12
Bottom line the way Bauer is pitching its pretty academic. I pray we do something because I understand the Indians have played historic ball the past few months but the falating they are getting from this Fox crew from pitch 1 has been hard to take.

He threw a bad game, that's it. Leave it at that
he is a 3/4 starter depending on the team. On Cleveland he is a 4. On NY he is arguably their 2nd or 3rd best starter on any given night, but amongst CC, Tanaka and Gray it's a total crapshoot. I don't think Sonny Gray is a bad pitcher, far from it. Factoring in Oakland he had 17 QS in 27 starts, 3.55 ERA and 1.21 WHIP. It was a nice bounce back year from 2016
Anything within 8 inches of the plate is getting called a strike for Bauer. And spare me the "not that it makes a difference" bullshit. Of course it makes a difference! Headley and now Judge got completely screwed in this inning alone. That doesn't affect the game?
can go suck off Bauer right now and get it over with. Not only did he K Headley and Judge on non-strikes in this inning, but he isn't calling strikes against Indian hitters.
One of the most lopsided games called this season. I can't believe the shit i'm seeing tonight.
How the fuck does a wingnut like Bauer get this treatment?
Oh, so on the best rotation in baseball Gray is a 4? Â
Thanks for clearing that up. And that's IF Bauer sustains his recent performance since Gray has been the much better pitcher over the course of their respective careers.
Not remotely true but, hey, everyone else spouts that same bullshit too so what difference does it make?

.
This is turning into a seriously aggravating game.
Sanchez has taken a beating back there tonight. And Game 2 is in like 19 hours.

He was off tonight, and it's a shame that he couldn't give the team a strong or long outing.
But even if he had a great start tonight, the Yankees offense would still be getting no-hit with nothing more than a walk through 5 innings.

God I hope not
Sad!
Can't have Romine's bat in the lineup and his defense is nowhere near good enough to make up for it
No, he hasnt
Srsly?

I can see if those pitches were going both ways... they're blatantly only going for strikes for Cleveland.

You can tell, they're the ones who are hardly ever around except to bitch when things aren't going well.
They've walked Perez twice now. There are no words.
