NFT: San Diego BBIers, help is needed

McNally's_Nuts : 10/6/2017 12:47 pm
My buddy is getting married next October.

I'm planning his bachelor party. We've decided on San Diego because of the weather and the fact that we're all really big golfers (we will be playing Torrey Pines come hell or high water) We will be going the last weekend in August of 2018. We plan on staying for 4 days, 3 nights with at least 3 round of golf.

San Diego was chosen out of
-Pinehurst
-Doral
-Scotland
-Hilton Head/Kiwiah/Myrtle Beach

Obviously San Diego has a ton of stuff to do, but I've never been there. I know Ballast Point is there, but anything else to do? Just trying to get the parameters of our trip.

Oh and I will take a percentage of how many fans wear Chargers hats as opposed to Chargers jersey's.
Make sure to take a tour

of the USS Midway.

Also check out the Zoo.
The gas

lamp district is awesome for a night of bar hopping. I went to one place called Whiskey Bar i think - just unreal scenery if you know what I mean.
Coronado

course is pretty cheap and really nice - right on the bay.
If youíre adventurous and one of you speaks spanish.

Tijuana is right across the border.
I liked the Gas Lamp Strip Club

for steaks.

You can do a winery tour, there are lots of good vineyards up in Temecula and you can set up a shuttle bus to pick you up in Old Town.
Thanks for the tips

We'll be getting an Airbnb so we can all stay in one house, plus it's cheaper than getting a hotel room.

None of us are into wine really, but we're gonna do a nice night out there for his impending doom.
Midway & the zoo

are musts.

It's a bit of a hike from downtown San Diego, but the Stone Brewery is a must if you're into beer.
All suggestions are good, TJ is fun, all speak English there

However, you guys picked the wrong place for golf given your other choices. Torry is fun, but overrated. And unless you can get into a private club or two your options are underwhelming as the pub courses there are not very interesting.

I suggest joining the SCGA which has outings to private clubs for good prices. You can see the outings they have this year, a lot of good spots.

is the classic one up guy.

We chose San Diego because out of those choices, we wanted a place with good golf and nightlife.

Remember, Doral is a good half hour away from Miami.
We're

all really big into craft beer.

So Stone and Ballast Point is on our radar for spots to hit up.
Del Mar Race Track

Where the turf meets the surf.

I will be there this year for the Breeders Cup.

You can hop across the boarder for a quick trip to Tijuana... Adelitas is a great bar (I hear) ;)

Hahaha. A classic stop in TJ

Check the Del Mar track schedule, it only runs for like 6 weeks and might be finished by the time you go.

Dinner at George's in La Jolla is a must, beautiful setting

Hit up PB for young tail, surf and beers

Catch a Padres game if they are in town

And lastly, find yourself a good fish taco/burrito. If you like BBQ check out Phils by Sports Arena
can't disagree

Torrey overrated?

Haha, must be nice.

Anyway, do yourself a favor and play it. Both the north and the south are terrific.

Other good courses worth checking out nearby are (within an hour drive):
- Maderas
- Steele Canyon
- Barona Creek (great course and there is a casino. Go inside and take 5-minutes to sign up for a players card before paying. It'll save you like 30%.)
- Aviara

I'm biased, but I would check out North county as well. Encinitas Ranch is a great course up here with plenty of ocean views for under $100, about 35-minutes north of downtown. And afterwards plenty of entertainment to be had in downtown Encinitas. Check out the Lumberyard, Beachside or Union if you're trying to watch sports and eat good food as well.

And on the beer front, check out Alesmith and the Tony Gwynn museum. Great beer. I'm partial to Green Flash as well which is also in the area.

PB will have the standard hot, young girls with plenty of bad decisions to be had. As will the Gaslamp. For more of the same with a bit more of a hipster vibe and better restaurants, check out North Park.

Have fun!

This post is great. We are all in committed relationships and/or married.

I'm not married though, do have a girlfriend that I live with. So hoping not bad decisions, but remember if its a different zip code...then it doesn't count!
Lots of nearby gambling spots, too
SHO'NUFF : 10/6/2017 6:42 pm : link
I prefer Viejas, or a bit further up north is Pala.
Go to Mission Bay

Baseball regular season ends in September, not August
I was visiting my daughter there a couple weeks ago

And went to a Padres game. Probably the prettiest baseball stadium Iíve been to. Not charming like Fenway, but modern, airy, clean, and good food. And accessible.

Iíve only been to SD a few times. Not sure about activities but I liked the zoo and I think itís a great place to eat. Definitely fish tacos. We went to the Crack Shack and I swear it was some of the best fried chicken Iíve ever eaten. Thereís a place downtown where they sell gigantic donuts and the line at opening stretches a city block. That was fun. Thereís a restaurant called Juniper and Ivy which was excellent (next to, and same owner (I think) as Crack Shack) where they do molecular gastronomy well). Thereís another I didnít get to where you sit below water level and watch the tide come in. Thereís a cute museum in Balboa Park with a new (for them) Renoir. Several beer places were good. And we went to an Italian place in Little Italy that was surprising good. I would have thought San Diego for Italian.
I planned a Bach party there this year

Go to Hong Kong Gentlemens club in Tijuana, you will thank me later. Words can't describe the experience.

Move is to go with a guide and you take a coach bus down to Tijuana, express lane over the border, go to a good restaurant/bar, hit Hong Kong Gentlemans club and then back.

Go to letsgocladestino.com and the owners name is Angel. He is great and I highly recommend
