Giants at a crossroads

That’s Gold, Jerry : 10/8/2017 5:47 pm
Depending on what happens going forward, this may be the last we see of Eli. If the decision is made to rebuild then the only logical thing is to trade Eli to a team that thinks it is a SB contender. There is no point to keeping Eli unless this team is fixable and there is no way, looking at 2018, that we can go forward with this regime in place and hence rebuilding is the only way to go.

Eli only stays if a huge investment is made in the OL and that alone may not be sufficient.

As I will never forgive Placico Burress for what he did in 2008, I will never forgive that son of a you know what who currently runs this team. He cannot get out of Dodge fast enough.

This is the worst I have felt about this team since 1978.
They have to make a huge investment in the OL

Regardless of whether Eli is here or not.
And if the SOB

You are referring to is Reese, then I hope a safe falls on his head.
I don't know

why/how we could "rebuild" around a 37-year-old QB. Brutal but...I wonder if Eli would just go quietly into the sunset rather than try to latch on w/ another team. What's he got left to prove? Do ya really wanna start over at that age? And he's already worth millions.
First order of business

here's the issue...

what team would be willing to trade for Eli?

No knock on Eli, because he is the least of the Giants concerns from a performance standpoint IMO.

But you need a trade partner, and I don't see one.......

It is very avant garde to blame everything on the o line on here.
How about the d line, the linebackers the secondary and the coaching?
Trade Eli to a contender?
Jim in NH : 10/8/2017 6:10 pm : link
Be serious!

A legit contender will HAVE their QB and, since their management will no doubt be competent, will have a backup as well.

Eli should be traded to a team that needs a QB and has management stupid enough to give high picks for a QB whose skills have been deteriorating for several years.

Because the OL sucks and has sucked for 4 years and because the two most competent members of the OL are FA and you are definitely not picking up Flowers option at that price tag. Don't get me going on McAdoo and yes it would be nice 5o have some LBs that can cover a TE.

Exactly. Cowboys are actually the only fit. But that ain’t happening
What exactly are we “rebuilding”?
The_Boss : 10/8/2017 6:16 pm : link
This is the 6th youngest team in football with talent. The culture blows on this team. Losing has become the norm. Combine that with an inexperienced HC leaning on the fly and you have a problem. You can certainly question how they build the roster: poor OL, LB’s, RB’s and countless poor draft picks. That’s on the GM.
HC hasn't,earned anything. That's the problem.

It would be okay if he learned from his mistakes but he hasn't.

He trusts his scheme, regardless of how the players are performing or what works best on a given day.
While I am predicting 0 - 7 at the bye due to hard schedule and iWR

injuries galore, I don't think we do anything but play out the season; cut the aged / unproductive players; play your younger guys a bit so you know what you have with them; draft well; and, sign some solid UFA's while keeping your own who you deem worthy.

Despite our record, I don't feel we are that far off.

Not far off? Far off from what? We just lost to an 0-4 team at home. Our defense is so far off from being just good. Besides the 3 guys they overpaid for they have nothing. Collins is having a pedestrian year. Offensively they have potential, but not with this coaching staff. So predictable.
This season has the potential to be the

"Best disaster" of a season even moreso than the Colts transitioning to Luck after Peyton went down. Perfect excuse to dump at the very least a mistake at HC, but hopefully talk Reese into resigning, and get Eli's replacement in the draft with at least a year to learn under Eli. Giants can still spend on the OL next year and draft one or two pretty high and compete. We dont HAVE to pay Odell (although I expect a hold out after today) and still have some cost controlled weapons.

This season is lost. It was lost to begin with. We thought we could get by with what we had on the OL. We were wrong.

The best way to recover from a mistake is by making the right decision in recovering from that mistake. In this case, it is to dump McAdoo and hopefully Reese. Everybody says the Giants never fire GMs. Well, prior to 2004, no team had come back from an 0-3 ALCS hole to win the pennant. Well the Sox did. Draft your future QB and dont fuck that all up with the delusions of somehow making something out of this season. The offense is broken, now the defense is broken despite spending 200 million on the players to fix it, our QB is older and his play has been waning for years, our head coach refuses to alter his rificulous "vision" for this offense nor does he seem involved in the game, the GM has failed to address one of the most important aspects of the team for his entire tenure and over a decade. This is the perfect opportunity to rebuild without forfeiting a season by having a rookie QB at the helm.

I pray that ownership recognizes this. Now injuries have completely neutered any reason to hope for a miracle this year. If things stay the same, I can guarantee I will not warch this team next year.
I love Eli
Jay on the Island : 10/8/2017 7:41 pm : link
but he deserves to go to a real contender and win his 3rd SB. I would like to see him traded to Denver. The Giants would then be freed to start their 1st round pick this year Rosen, Allen, Falk, etc. or Webb.
