Something that bothered me about after the OBJ injury

jlukes : 10/8/2017 8:37 pm
Might be stupid, but at this point, with how the season has gone, it is all about optics

Seems like whenever there is a serious injury, especially one that calls for the cart to take the player off the field, the head coach comes over to check on his player.

It really bothered me that McAdoo didn't come off the sideline to check on OBJ after the injury.

He was busy dialing up that awesome play following it.
Agree

My bro and i were just talking about this. Poor leadership. And lack of sensititivity.
Yeah me too

The funny thing is they did give us a camera shot of McAdoo on the sidelines while OBJ was on the ground crying in pain. McAdoo was buried in his playsheet
I remarked at the time too.

He never pays respect to an injured player. Keeps his nose in his play menu.
MacAdoo
joeinpa : 10/8/2017 8:41 pm : link
No matter what is happening on the field, special teams, defense, injuries, has his nose in his play chart.

I always assumed that was the practice, big injury always gets a visit from the coach. Maybe it's not universal?

Would have right next to OBJ
I honestly just think he's completely overwhelmed

I I agree didn't like seeing apple laughing on the side line. really annoyed me!
Yeah. It is interesting. Good point.

But I think McNcheese actually shit his pants at that moment and needed to duck walk to the locker room.
Two years ago when McAdoo was OC, he was aloof from the offense
Ivan15 : 10/8/2017 9:13 pm : link
He kept his face buried behind his menu. He didn't even talk to Eli when the D was on the field.
He was looking at his play chart to keep this thing called

Complimentary football going.....oh wait
McAdoo will be gone
blueblood : 10/8/2017 9:24 pm : link
and all this losing OBJ will probably also leave via FA unless the Giants franchise him or pay him a kings ransom

Was he at least holding it right side up.
Missed the last quarter of the game.

Didn’t notice during the game

But that’s a total dick move. What the heck is the matter with this guy?

My very thought was...

Coughlin would've been out there with OBJ. Coughlin ehas doneeither before.

I liked McAdoo. Today, not so much.
Coughlin has done it before *

I feel like McAdoo is trying too hard to be like Belichick. Sort of "stoic" and unflappable but he doesn't have the resume.

I've really done a 180 on this guy - I try not to be one of those reactionary fans that flip flops with every bounce of the ball, but all of the really great qualities I felt he displayed last year have basically been erased this year.

I get that he's trying to instill a certain culture/philosophy, but he seems like a guy who has blindspots and is too stubborn to admit when something he's doing is failing.

I don't think he's long for this job.

He isn't leaving unless the team wants him gone. If no long term deal, the next three years will be 5th year option, franchise tag, franchise tag.

I have the feeling OBJ now no longer trusts Eli and will not stay as long as Eli is QB or he sees an immediate turnaround on the O next season...in other words he plays it out and says goodbye asap.

Yes. Quite a few similarities.

#1 being he's not a player's coach.

Yep. As unfortunate as it is to say as a Giants fan, but I completely agree with you. His problem is that he thinks the solutions are within, when he's not built a foundation without that can function correctly and allow him to tend to these kinds of things.

So disappointing. He's young and may get another chance somewhere, but we'll have to see. It's not like his offensive prowess is guaranteeing him another shot in this league, unless he takes a job as a position coach.
