Reese, Mara or Macadoo. Who deserves most blame

DennyInDenville : 10/8/2017 8:55 pm
One of them is at fault.

I say Macadoo.

2nd place Mara for forcing Tom out.
Reese/ Mara/ Mac

Owner is responsible.
Reese and McAdoo

However, if Mara keeps them around after this shit show, it's all on him. I say clean house from GM, to scouting, to coaches.
Reese

He drafts the players, he decides on FA, he hired the coach.
Mara

Reese/Mara.
This mess is the result of yrs of foolery and here we are.
Since we are on the outside looking in, I would go with anyone
Jimmy Googs : 10/8/2017 9:03 pm : link
who felt as if the best strategy was to go with the current O-linemen as is. And not make it a focus of Free Agency or the Draft. No matter the talent pool available which clearly wasn't worth pursuing based on dollars/age.

Remember our guys are young. They were asked to take their jobs more seriously. Come into the gym and work out thru the offseason. Build up strength. No need to look elsewhere.

Plenty here drank the cool-aid too saying how they "looked" better in the preseason too.

You know who you are...
Reese
Chip : 10/8/2017 9:08 pm : link
Its not close. This is team and he has been the decision maker. Having had Robinson,Tye and Donnell as your TE's for how many years before figuring out they were no good as NFL players. The decisions to go with the same OL as last year when it was obviously not that good. Having failed on virtually on every draft pick after the 2nd for the last 10 years. Those have been his decisions. I would blame a lot more than McAdoo. Its up to the owners to right this ship.
If im Reese I order Macadoo to play Eli 1 series
DennyInDenville : 10/8/2017 9:16 pm : link
Then pull him and play Geno/Webb

No reason to get Eli killed in a meaningless game against that defense with a stiff neck.

Just play him a series and keep Eli strong and his streak good..
Yes!

holmancomedown : 10/8/2017 9:20 pm : link
I have to blame Reese. He rolled the dice on this offensive line although they haven't been half bad the past couple of weeks. No the main culprit today and last week has been the defense for which I have no explanation for. I thought that group would be the last of our worries. They were bad today giving up two third and longs and San di uhhh meant LA chargers marched 92 yards for a TD. THATS ALARMING. Mara is to passive we know this. But we want blood ! And someone has to hang for this !!!!!!!! Is it Mac or Reece ? It will depend on how this year plays out. I say Sangrie por Sangrie ! '' Blood for Blood'' !
They all have high value
SomeFan : 10/8/2017 9:25 pm : link
for the failures.
Hard to make this call,
81_Great_Dane : 10/8/2017 9:25 pm : link
since none of us really know who makes what decisions and who gets approval.

But with all the wailing and gnashing of teeth about how this is like the 70s all over again*, I'd point out that in the 70s the biggest problem was Wellington Mara. Who meant well but was WAY out of his depth trying to run the football side. Maybe he and Steve Tisch out to step entirely away and let a football guy run things, like his predecessors did when the league forced them to hire George Young.

*I lived through that time, and IMO we're not there yet. About 5 years of this, and yeah, we're back there.
Talking about John Mara stepping aside

This to happen. He sided with Reese over Tom....HUGE HUGE mistake. Reese’s is simply incompetent. Almost any other organization would have fired him years ago.

This mess is totally on John Mara and Steve Tisch.

This is the correct answer despite my posts above.
Reese!
Fishmanjim57 : 10/8/2017 9:33 pm : link
Reese has allowed this downward spiral for several years, (even though the team lucked out to achieve 11 wins last season).
Reese allowed Coughlin to take the blame for his lack of defensive talent, thus seeing the departure of one of the best football minds in Giants history.
Reese should be fired right now, not at the end of the season.

Sorry it's Mara

He's the dead fish head that has spread the rot to the rest of the body. . He refused to clean house about 3 years ago. He left Reese in place and rather than at least be a man and Just let him go outright They forced him to fire first Gilbride. Then Fewel. Then fired TC not holding Reese and his shitty staff just as accountable for shitty draft after shitty deaft.
McAdoo
Giants_West : 10/8/2017 10:02 pm : link
Say what you will about the holes on the roster and the choice of prioritizing JPP in the offseason, This team has massively underperformed. Sloppiness and an inability to correct systemic problems in the off-season are the reason we are 0-5 moreso than talent. San Diego has a worse roster than us and we played down to them. We’ve played as poorly as a team can without purposely trying to lose.

Bad rosters get their doors blown off. We’ve been in every game sisnce week 2 and found ways to lose them all.

That being said, I think both should be fired, if firing Mara was a choice I’d do that too. Abysmal.

Hates the hire doe that reason. That Mara forced that hire shows who is at fault. If you were to gather the besttop offensive football minds in he NFL he's not near the top of a yones list except for the Giants. Pathetic hire

I always thought it was Tisch that wanted Tom gone. Didn't he make a statement at the beginning of the 2015 season that if the team didn't turn it around there would be changes made, alluding to TC's job.
It's Mara all the way.
larryflower37 : 10/8/2017 10:07 pm : link
He has made empty threats on multiple occasions.
He should let both go tomorrow.
Give Abrams and Spags temp jobs and rebuild the organization in the off season.
Make a statement that he is done with 1 playoff in 7 years.
The way i see it
Bill in Del : 10/8/2017 10:11 pm : link
Reese for lousy drafts
Mara for hiring and letting Macadoo get in over his head
Macadoo for getting in over his head
What was Mara going to do after an 11-5 season?
Boy Cord : 10/8/2017 10:17 pm : link
Nothing. He has a blind spot for Reese based on Reese's contributions to two Super Bowl teams and the Giants tradition of never firing a GM.

McAdoo turned 2015 missed opportunities into the playoffs in his first year as head coach. So far, so good. Let's see where 2017 leads.

Well, that didn't take long. The season was OVER before October and the organization has been reduced to a laughingstock. It was all smoke and mirrors and there is only one answer: Clean house.

Again, 2017 is on Reese and McAdoo. If either survives to 2018, there is only one person to blame, and that's Mara.

ALL OF THEM.

You’re losing to teams that are less talented. That’s not on the GM. The GM put together a team people were saying had Super Bowl potential. He can’t coach them too

Chris Mara you mean.

Though John Mara should let the football guys pick the next coach.
Which Mara?
SHO'NUFF : 10/8/2017 11:30 pm : link
Chris? Absolutely.

Reese? Absolutely. You guys were praising him for the D, but I kept saying he hasn't done shit for the O-LINE the past two years...I hate when I'm right.

McAdoo? Sure. Given shit to work with, but even an average coach could have done something with this roster. Instead, he keeps doing the same shit over and over again. Insanity.

"People" were wrong.

More importantly, so was Reese.

Next.

Reese or Macadoo?

Do you blame the guy who struck the match or the guy who poured gasoline all over the floor?

What bothers me is that the teams core is smaller than you might think going into next year. I honestly would not be upset if not one offensive lineman came back. Reese can't rebuild this team and this coach doesn't understand situational football or instill respect.
