thought to put him on IR? even if its 4 weeks, you can bring 2 guys back from IR now after 8 weeks, if they dont win a couple games in these 4 weeks (they still need to operate like they're not eliminated) they will be eliminated so that roster spot is too valuable to waste, especially with only 4 healthy receivers.
Or of course you could just cut Geno considering we're at the point of the season where if there is an Eli injury, Geno will not be saving the season.
At this point you are not winning anything this season. Face the reality. I'd cut Geno Smith, promote Webb to #2 and give him some more reps in practice. IR Marshall and OBJ, give the young guys a chance to play and see what happens. I'd also think about getting Webb some 4th quarter work in some of these games. The Giants tend to remain overly loyal to aging players and it bites them in the ass. I always think of the time when Little Bill cut Lawyer Malloy. Yeah, it's hard to do, but you have to have the best interest of the franchise in mind. You can't hang onto guys for personal reasons. It's time to see what we have for the future and think about rebuilding the roster starting next season. The Giants have so many holes, they will be bad for a good while. Nearly every position group needs an upgrade - that includes coaches. I do not believe that Landon Collins suddenly became a bad player or that Eli Apple can't play CB in the NFL. I also don't believe that Vernon and JPP can suddenly not rush the passer effectively. THe coaching on this team has been dogshit for a while. While talent is always king, a good staff can maximize the talent and minimize the weaknesses. Our staff is not doing that and they are not out coaching anyone.
with the Herschel Walker and Brian Mitchell territory. Big name players, who were supposed to play a role but be much better than any normal role player...only to find out they came after they were already done.
I admit, I thought he was a good signing. I thought his height would be a matchup problem for defenses and he would fill a role for Eli down by the goal line. But they never got on the same page, the offensive line forced the Giants to set up routes that only had 2 seconds to get open, and now he's out. At least his contract isn't bad and easy to get out of.
You're going to see several guys taking extra time to nurse their injuries. Who's going to risk coming back for this train wreck?
I don't disagree. I posted many moons ago, and heard this very close to the source, that in 2006, Toomer went for surgery on his ACL and shut down his season pretty early on even though he could have played. Back then, the assumption was that Coughlin was going to be gone in 2007 so he wanted to be sure he was healthy for the next coach. As the season gets worse and worse, many players will start thinking the same thing, particularly if it looks like a front office/ coaching shakeup is coming.
players are doing their best to make that switch come around. You will see OV taking his time, JPP taking some time and don't be surprised to see DRC unable to go soon...

Do you really think the Giants will do ANY of that shit, not likely...

Glad someone did!:)
