Luis Severino on the hill in this magestic game 4 elimination in the Bronx
Indians pitcher on 3 days rest..
Let's fucking win baby!!!!
1.) Gardy
2.) Judge
3.) SIR DIDI
4.) Sanchez
5.) Bird
6.) Castro
7.) Headley (DH)
8.) Todd Frazier
9.) Hicks
Little lineup change I see...
Let's fucking get this!!!
And we've seen what Ellsbury and Headley can't do at DH. They might as well have hit a pitcher in the spot. Can they put Holliday out there and see what he can do? Though, every time I bash Headley, he does something positive. So...you suck Chase!

I agree Holliday over Headley but we will see.
The Sir Didi / Sanchez swap is interesting..
+1
Let's do this thing
Better off taking A train to B train to stadium? Or shuttle to 4 train?
Link - ( New Window )
A bit of a further walk to the station but better than jumping trains during rush hour and with the game going on tonight.
B and D we're not running last night from Manhattan. Not sure if that's changed today.
Need something from Captain Clutch Headley tonight.
Let's get this W!
Wish Holliday would get a look
Ill take it but I think we let Sevy throw it..
7 innings 115 pitches 1 Run, 5 hits, 10Ks 0 BBs is what I expect
Horrendous traffic jam coming into the GWB like extra bad

Damn hopefully it fills up.
Game looks sold out on stub hub
sounded like it. maybe a lot of Indians fans there
+1 They were working the counts so well until that
Would like to see that change up a little more. Maybe another inning of 98- 100 will open that up.
Let’s go!!!
One more.
Let's blow into the pen and keep ours rested!
Adam warren start stretching
Keep the pressure on Yanks!!!
I think because he advanced to 2nd on defensive indifference
Absolutely.
You mean Tomlin. He was originally supposed to start this game.
Can we NOT be cocky after what happened game 2? Please? Lol.

How is that defensive indifference? That early in the game, there's no way the OS rules that.

Nope, I meant Danny Salazar who was an All Star last year

Catcher didnt attempt a throw. Doesnt matter WHEN it happens in the game I dont think
No way that's defensive indifference. The OS is the boss though I guess.
So happy he got a chance to redeem himself after the Wild Card disaster.
Makes a lot of sense to me.

Youre assuming an awful lot. But even then, the catcher conceded the base. That should not be hung on the pitcher.
Anyways, need to get at least 1 here.
Because he can't hit RHP at all anymore. Which begs the question of why he's on the roster in the first place.
One time, big fella, hit one toJersey
I dont think that is the right ruling. But if you say so. Its not like the catcher popped up to fake the throw.
Also think that the first ruling off Urshuela's leg was wrong. But whatever.
One more hit here would be fucking great.
And couldn’t see it on the replay, but I’m sure the third baseman double clutched bc Hicks has busted it down to second
Quote:
The runs were unearned because of the error by the 3rdbaseman. After the next batter recorded an out, that in effect "should" have ended the inning, thus the runs that follow are unearned

Dude go to any site on the internet and check the box score. Gardner has a stolen base. And the announcers have mentioned twice now that the runs were unearned because of the error.

DUDE, you need to lighten the guck up. I know what it was scored, I disagree with the scoring....dude.
I dont mind you as a poster but you get all combative when someone disagrees with you

Haha. Where'd that clown come from?
Ellsbury just as inept. DH has been a zero this series.
Calm down Francine.
well done.

Not his fault. That was easily inside and the umpire messed up
Wasn't his fault, that was a horrid call

fair enough. just frustrated with the black hole that has been the DH slot this series
I think Ellsbury hasn't even fouled off a pitch this series.
Literally seems like every ball is being hit hard when he leaves them up in the zone.
Who's first out of the pen?
Quote:
strikes? Girardi should that dumb ass in the back of the head. No excuse for throwing balls to Bruce. None. 5-0. You don not be cute. Bruce cannot hit high fastballs. Cleveland back in the game........

Screw you Greg. Can't walk people in a game you lead 5-0. Now it is 5-3. There is no excuse for walking somebody you are ahead in the count.

He's thrown five innings in the last six days but I guess they really have no choice. Especially since he only threw a few pitches yesterday.
Ive had a ton of luck with the reddit streams of late. There are usually a bunch.
Come on Gritner.

Didn't realize that. Still. Good stuff. That's a huge run.
Would love to see it but it looks like he's trying to pull everything. He needs to be more patient.

Yup. He doesn't look good at all. And there you go.
For Bruce
Bench who? And replacing him with who?
Is it worth bring him in the 7th?
91 pitches
Is it worth bring him in the 7th?
91 pitches
That was a great, economical inning. I think you give him at least one batter in the seventh before you bring in Kahnle.
Is it worth bring him in the 7th?
91 pitches
I dont think he comes out again. Santana leading off and no way do you really want to walk a player to lead off an inning.
I like Kahnle for the switch hitter. Garcia is a nice option too if Joe is confident in his ability to get a ground ball out of Santana
Is it worth bring him in the 7th?
91 pitches
He holds his velocity as well or better than any starter in the game. He looks great, I would absolutely NOT take him out of the game. Give him at least the 7th, Green the 8th and let Betances close it out.
Yea I am leaning to giving him another shot at Santana. Might blow him away with nobody on. Solo shot would suck but at least you show faith in the kid.
Yea Castro's bullet should have been a hit...Sanchez gors oppo!that's earned!
Smoltz. Hes been annoying the piss out of me too.

oh that putz
Or it makes a game 5 win that much better and gives our team the confidence it can overcome anything no matter what
Wtf bro
The abused hypocrisy being one of the Indians HRs was a short porch job too
Damn he's throwing so hard
Kid showed a ton of guts and poise tonight things coulda gotten weird in that 4th. He settled down beautifully. And I still didnt think he had his best control. I doubt we see him look scared if we start him in a big game again.
That was a stretch...
That didn't make sense. Forces Cleveland into a decision on Judge who has been cold for most of the series
Lmao I was thinking what the fuck is going on in his head lol
Gotta bench him
they've had no clue how to establish a strike zone with him all series. pretty pathetic.
Gotta bench him
Genius idea. You should send a postcard to Girardi.
Meant today's hit aside.
He still looks fuvking awful. The fact that he is unable to hit the ball in the air there is infuriating

Not fair to get too tough on him during ABs where the umpire fucks up. He is cold though.
Gotta bench him
Bench Judge? That’s too stupid an idea to even comment.
Jumping on a first pitch fastball wouldn't hurt either.
Good news is by next season he will have it ironed out.
Seriously, it’s fucking embarrassing the way a bunch of fans are suddenly turning on him. Playoffs are tough. He had one of our biggest hits tonight. He’s had a lot of bad ABs as well. And he’s still one of our best players.
Hit his helmet, now he's dead
Let's go baby! Betances needs to be traded and we should let Levine hold the press conference
Yup. Warren was the guy I thought Joe should have went to after Sevy, but I understand putting Betances in.
Kahnle is under-appreciated by his manager and Yankee fans
They were saying Chappy can go 1 IP max
Think maybe Green is tired after all the work he's had.
No.
He's barely good for 1 inning.
Smoltz sounds upset too

True but he gave the high strike on Martinez...
What a team.
Good job Tommy. Get us 3 more.
I think that was a power change
Great job preventing any runs from scoring...
I'm going to say zero chance he pitches again this series.
No. Maybe the only benefit to watching him throw it all over the place tonight.

i wonder if there's any shot Dellin gets another high leverage chance

probably agree. if that's the case. i'd stay with Kahnle here...save DRob and Chapman.
Yanks pitchers have thrown 133 through 8 for comparison
If they want to send someone to the ER, then yes.
You want him going another. 15 pitches and can still go Wed because he's a mule.

Is it Kluber?
I heard they aren't gonna start him
Fuck him.
I love CC in that game, it's magestic.
We win game 5, anything can happen going forward
Let's go studs!
Fuck him.
Agree. O'Nora was calling that all night. It was a strike, both of them...
Kahnle big time outing...he has turned it on since mid-September.
See I think this takes a lot of the game 2 debacle sting away. Even if we win there I think the Indians would have found a way to win a game here. Either way that will be far from the last memory we'll have of these playoffs.
Agreed, but I really think we can win the WS
Our team is deadly in postseason play.
The key is getting Sanchez and Gray on the same page
Yes indeed!
Yes indeed to that too!
I'll take the Big Fella on my side any day of the week in an elimination game.
Yankees were the better team almost all year. A little faux pas while Ty Clippard was blowing leads....
No way they could a last minute tee time on the west coast after finishing their game when they did.
The team that trails 2-0 and forces a game 5 has won 9 of the 15 decisive Game 5s
I'm probably wrong, but I think something may be a little off with Kluber injury-wise. I sensed some amount of desperation in Tito's bullpen management tonight. More than I'd expect of a team who's downside is game 5 at home with their ace on the hill.
Really? What happened?
I do have confidence in CC and expect him to pitch his heart out.
this ^^^^^^^^^^....this
I do have confidence in CC and expect him to pitch his heart out.
Should be Wednesday
said the players have picked him up this time, which is true.
A lot of us hammered him the other night and some of us felt he would lose his job over it, but I have taken a step back and I also think the way the team responded after it says a lot. Hopefully he's back next year. That emotional moment was pretty cool.
Agree Del. Kahnle was lights out tonight. Very impressive.
Plus another year of D-Rob under contract? It was a good trade then. Great trade now.

Mook, you've said several times over the years that Girardi is a good manager. He's also a good guy. He fucked up Friday and he knows it. We were all emotional after that day but I would be worried about taking a step back with a new manager. The team plays hard for this guy. I'm not sure what the Yanks will do but I always worry that we can find the right guy to keep improving. My vote is to keep Girardi but I don't count.

I'm still on my way home so haven't seen it, but I am very glad to hear it.
I was really rubbed the wrong way by Olneu reports that maybe he doesn't want to be back in any case.
Don't get me wrong, if he doesn't want to that's absolutely his prerogative. But if that's the chatter he's putting out via his channels after he fucked that game 3 ways, that's fucked up.
Good to hear that mayyybe it's bullshit.
Tesla, it has nothing to do with Girardi loving vets. Hicks is batting 9th because he is better than Headley and Girardi is viewing the lineup as not a 1-9 list, but as a continuous loop.
Hicks is more likely to get on base than Headley and is a much better baserunner than Headley and Girardi wants that kind of weapon turning over the lineup. What use is batting Judge 2nd if he doesn't have a lot of talent coming up before him to get on base?
It's similar to the argument that a National League team should bat their pitcher 8th so that a better hitter can precede the top of the order.
Quote:
why the fuck Headley is batting 7th and Hicks is batting 9th???? WTF is the rationale there....other than that fact that Girard loves his "vets." Which also explains why Holliday is taking up a roster spot for absolutely zero reason.

Excellent point. The argument that you want your best hitters coming to the plate more often doesnt really apply that low in the order.

Exactly. Girardi sees 9-1-2-3 as a variation of 1-2-3-4. When you look at the players batting there tonight, it makes sense.

Could be...10 years as Yankee manager is an extremely long time. Only 4 Yankee managers have continuously held the post longer (Huggins, McCarthy, Stengel, Torre)
2) Todd Frazier. Yes, I know about Gleyber coming back next year. Yes, I know his age. Yes, I know his batting average stinks. But the guy has been Swisher-like in the clubhouse and loves being here. He also has no issue batting as low as 9th in the line up despite being a 30 homer per year guy and he has been almost a great glove at 3rd. He could be insurance for the kid, back up multiple positions and a PH.

There's no telling how the series goes if we win that one. I have a hunch either way this was heading for game 5.
Yea I agree we'll definitely see Ells like game 2. Was just saying that for anyone in the crowd that thinks there's a chance to see Holliday its not going to happen based on that answer.
A lot of that is due to how Severino responded tonight and really pushed himself through 110+ pitches. Got the big outs and also helped save the bullpen. Great response by the kid. The future is bright
And credit Girardi too for sticking with him and not going right to the bullpen, which he very easily could have done with the middle of the order up in the 6th.
Great win. Great comeback. Great team.
Let's finish this thing off!

Two good points.
1.) I think CC knows how to win games and his stuff actually looks better than two years ago. I think they will look to re-sign. Definitely one year, but CC probably wants two. 2 @ $12 mill?
2.) Frazier is 32? He'll be looking for 3 years. No way the Yanks do that. They already have Headley and Frazier is a slightly better Headley. Need to make room for Andujar and Torres. I think Todd is not re-signed.
CC seems like a no brainer to bring back at this point.
A lot of us hammered him the other night and some of us felt he would lose his job over it, but I have taken a step back and I also think the way the team responded after it says a lot. Hopefully he's back next year. That emotional moment was pretty cool.
Well said. I can't act like I wasn't one of those ready to run him out of town the other night. But he's come clean about the mistake, that's all I can ask for. Shit happens.
Overall, he's done a good job here. Some of those teams from 2013-2016 that he got winning seasons out of had no business doing so. And these guys play hard for him.
He invites a lot of criticism because he's so rigid and rarely shows any personality. And he makes a lot of moves in-game, which obviously invites second guessing. But he gets the job done more often than not.
I feel badly for how us fans reacted the other night and at the stadium.
Yep. Green needed a rest badly. As awesome as that bullpen performance in the wild card game was, it really did a number on their main relief guys. Everyone should be rested and ready in Game 5.
Off the wall idea - DH Castro and start Torreyes. Better D at second, and at least he will put the ball in play.

This. X1000. I too was pretty rough on Joe but it was pure emotion speaking. I like Joe more than most and want him back.
My main concern is a guy named Jeter. You just know he's actively recruiting Joe and after 10 years, maybe Joe is just ready for the next chapter.
Quote:
besides the win obviously, is resting the main 3 in the bullpen. Reading back through the thread, I don't think Green has been demoted, I think they just knew he was on fumes in game 2 and needed a few days. Got to imagine we'll see him in game 5.

Not a bad idea. Ells and Headley are awful at DH and Torryes gets bat on ball consistently. But no, he is not a better defender than Castro. Does Castro get the occasional brainfart - no doubt. But Castro has better range and a much better arm.
Only problem is you are taking your only utility IF and putting him on the field and your only remaining middle IF'er is at DH and should he need to play the field you lose the DH. Maybe only a small problem.
Maybe after the win on Wednesday, Joe dumps Ellsbury and puts Clint Frazier on the roster vs the Astro's. If he was just a bit more polished as an OF, it might be a good idea.
I’m just happy a few Yankees hitters started sitting on curve balls and made the Indians pay for it
I’m just happy a few Yankees hitters started sitting on curve balls and made the Indians pay for it
But you're not taking Castro out of the lineup, you're taking Headley/Ellsbury out.
Anything to get those 2 out of the lineup is a good thing.
I still think Matt Holliday has a big hit in him as well- no point in him being here if we are letting the other 2 guys get abs and k all day with runners on

Yea - pour that 2-17 on us.
Athletes always seem to reply and read all the hate tweets they receive.. so why even bother as a pro athlete? It's too distracting imo
Lol wow! Perfect example
Weird. I heard that Yankee fans are the only fan base that criticizes players and managers. Because we are spoiled. Yet here Bauer is getting destroyed by Cleveland fans on Twitter after spinning a gem in game one. Huh. They must be spoiled brats too.
