#1 - Cut Geno and insert Webb as the backup. Then fill the roster spot with someone else. There was a time when Geno made some sense. He was the veteran backup you would bring in if you needed to win a couple games to endure an Eli injury. But at this point, he serves zero purpose except keeping Webb free of any pressure. But at least if he is the backup you can get some looks to evaluate him and if Eli did go down there is less than zero reason to bring in Geno.
#2 - Bench Flowers today (insert Pugh at LT), but give him from now until after the bye week to work out at left guard and see if he can take the spot. The guy is a liability but may be better suited for OG. You may salvage something from him after all, but not at OT. Moving him to RT won't help much -he's still playing in space and the pass rushers are just as fast. At guard he can stay on the left side but box him in and see what he can do. The team needs to know what they have in him and McAdoo needs a wild card from somewhere. At this point Flowers is a huge liability and there is nothing to lose --in a best case you resurrect a top 10 pick.
They want him to get their plays down pat
+1
I could buy into trying out Wheeler at LT and giving Flowers a go at RT or hell with it, try him at RG.
Very good post. Everybody chirping about "seeing what we have in Webb" when I would like to see what Wheeler has to offer us. Kid looks decent as far as feet and maybe playing against some tough comp might bring the best out of him. Might have our LT of the fiture already on the roster.
Same for Flowers. Okay, he was tried at LT, it didnt work out. Im very sorry. Leonard Davis made the shift and he was a monster at G. Maybe see how that size and strength translates to where it can really be used.

I think the same thing applies to Wheeler & perhaps,Bisnowaty. There will be in-season evaluations of many of the younger players going into the 2018 draft. It still seems strange that a month ago we were Super Bowl hopefuls & now we're in the running for the #1 pick. But,it is what it is & they need to adjust to our new reality.
The Giants being the Giants,I think McAdoo is back next year. Wouldn't be my choice but the injuries this year will certainly buy him some time. I think the long term question is next year-Do we retool for the run we were supposed to make this year or do we blow it up,go young & start over?
They're in a tough spot with Flowers, and I don't think he's mobile enough to pull and trap consistently at OG.
Not really - the right side was clearly better at run blocking then the left. I'd say equally inept at pass blocking.

If there's a QB in the first round that they are in love with,I agree, they'll probably take him. However,OL or not, they need to take a look at Webb & how he plays in NFL situations this year before going into the draft. If,and it's a big if,they feel he is definitely their future QB, they have many other areas they could address w/the assumptive high picks!
