It does.

I'm also not convinced it is filled with the spoilers they are warning against. It could go differently than the trailer makes it seem.

I think he doesn't and that closing scene of the trailer is actually not what it appears to be.

I have a feeling either Kylo Ren or Rey don’t end the movie on the same side that they started it.

I agree. I don’t think it is a coincidence that Kylo has shed the helmet for majority of the scenes, seems to signal he is done being Kylo Ren.

was a steamin pile of a movie. If it wasn't your first Star Wars movie you knew exactly what was going to happen before it happened.

Rogue One restored my faith that they are dedicated to delivering quality movies that add to the lore. I'm not going into the Last Jedi with any expectations.

Except the people responsible for making the movie have said big fans should avoid this trailer due to spoilers. I call bullshit, though. I think this is typical trailer misdirection.

The one thing I'm wondering about, does Mark Hamill still have the chops to pull this off, now that his role will seemingly be much bigger?

I can’t see it being Ezra Bridger, 90+% of the movie going public would have no idea of the significance of the “big reveal.”

I enjoyed it. Great cinematography and the best acting and action scenes of the series (prior to R1). I understand people that didn't like the story but I think something of this magnitude is easier said than done. Many people had to be pleased and at the end of the day it's still Disney pulling the strings.

on your sense of personal creativity to create a masterpiece money-maker, then spend a lifetime trying to appease the loyal masses with anything truly new. I don't feel bad for Disney, they're making tons of money off of this.

People are nostalgic for the original Star Wars experience, and Disney keeps delivering it to them. No surprise though that the films seem to all have the exact same themes and similar story lines.
The sudden hatred of Force Awakens just pisses me off
Bramton1 : 10/10/2017 12:32 pm : link
When the movie first came out, it was received EXTREMELY well by fans. There were some detractors, but I would estimate that 7 or 8 of 10 people viewed it very favorably.

Since then, the perception has changed. All the sudden, people have harped on its similarities with the original. And people who went to see the movie 3 or 4 times in the theater are now going, "Oh, we're supposed to hate it now."

If you complained after seeing the movie, continue on. But if you were heaping praise for the film in December 2015 and now delight in trashing the film, please re-examine why your opinion changed so drastically. And make sure you're thinking for yourself and not what other people tell you to think.

I liked it from Day 1 and still do. I will also say, even knowing it was coming, watching Han Solo die was actually one of the more emotional scenes in a movie for me.
I read one "review" of the trailer
Matt M. : 10/10/2017 12:45 pm : link
that pointed out a probable ruse. The scnes with Rey asking for help seems not to be the same scene as Kylo Ren reaching out his hand. It is more likely she is asking Luke for guidance early in the movie.

If anyone turns, my bet it is Kylo Ren.

Not a drastic change of opinion for me, but I was excited when it came out and walked out happy I'd seen it. I thought it was well done and hit all the nostalgia notes for me. There were some things that bothered me about it then and those haven't changed.

Having watched it a few more times, the initial excitement toward having a legit new addition to the Star Wars family has worn off, and I can evaluate it more objectively. To that end, the fact that the storyline is so similar brings it down from an amazing movie to just another good movie, one that perhaps felt a bit more amazing at first because it took me back to being an 8 year old in 1977 watching Star Wars at the drive-in theater with my dad.

Is that too much? I'm certainly not looking for reviews online for how I'm "supposed" to feel and then creating a new opinion for myself based on those reviews. In fact, I don't think I've read a single review of the movie. Since I've seen it myself, why would I need to do that?

I can't conceive of a way for that movie to come out great. Anyone other than Harrison Ford as Han simply doesn't work for me. And I never felt a desire to see Han's backstory, since the way he's introduced in Episode 4 is perfect.

I'm glad Ron Howard is in charge, since he's an accomplished, competent filmmaker, and I would hope that it ensures that the movie won't suck. I just don't know how much he can do with that dealt hand.

I was pretty lukewarm on it, but I didn't quite share the same complaints everyone else did. I just didn't like the pace of it, for lack of a better way to put it. I wasn't sold on how what's-her-face and what's-his-face developed such a close bond over such a short time.

I also scoffed at all the convenient coincidences and reunions -- seldom in a space movie has space seemed so small.
and though
santacruzom : 10/11/2017 7:18 pm : link
I felt like all of the prequels were severely lacking the swashbuckling charisma and wit of the originals, The Force Awakens kind of employed a bolt-on version of it that fell flat.
I enjoyed Episode VII and Rogue One...
JerryNYG : 10/11/2017 7:26 pm : link
Rogue One was a far superior movie, IMHO, but The Force Awakens served a purpose as a sort of "palate cleanser" to help fans reconnect to the franchise after those prequel movies. It did feel kind of derivative at times, but it was still a lot of fun and it got the story of the sequel trilogy rolling.
The redundant story line in Force Awakens was annoying, but
eclipz928 : 10/11/2017 7:40 pm : link
I feel that the producers took the approach that for a reboot like this the audience would be most likely to respond positively to something that is familiar rather than something completely new.

Especially knowing that there would be several sequels, I'm sure the gamble was that the initial installment could sacrifice a little by introducing a couple new elements while telling basically the same story people originally fell in love with - then have the sequels take off in fresher directions.
I thought FA
Rick5 : 10/11/2017 10:01 pm : link
was reasonably entertaing but not great. I would give it a 6.5 on a scale of 1-10. I didn't like Rogue One.
I could see them honoring Fisher
Jay on the Island : 10/12/2017 4:25 pm : link
by having Leia play a huge role in the last Jedi. Perhaps her face off with her son where he is debating on pulling the trigger on the ship carrying her is where she uses her force powers to communicate with Kylo and turn him back to the light. It would be another example of copying the original but in a different more powerful way. Anakin turned toward the dark side after losing his mother. His love for her was his downfall. Perhaps Kylo's love for his mother will be what saves him.

As for Luke being the possible savior I actually hope that he is. I know they want the new generation to be the main hero's but it would ruin it for me if Luke is this broken man who has no big part to play in the defeat of the first order when the entire first movie focused on finding him.

With all due respect, Anakin did not turn to the Dark Side in the originals. He did in the shitpile known as the prequels.

This doesn't make sense. Fisher was alive when they filmed, so there would be no sentiment to honor her, since she wasn't dead. That said, it was rumored that she was going to have a very prominent role in Episode IX, which needs/needed to be re-written as a result.

Well, that's exactly my point. You're suggesting they will give Leia a big role in the film to honor Fisher. But the movie was filmed before she died. And now she's dead and can't film additional scenes. How do you expect them to her a big role now?
