NFT: Knicks Chat- As bad as expected

DanMetroMan : 10/10/2017 9:21 am
-Man they look horrible and Hornacek already looks 10 years older than he did when he took the job. I think he's a goner after the year. He strikes me as a potential solid college coach. NBA players don't appear to respond to him

-Dotson looks like a find. I'm not saying he's a future star but I think he's going to be a long term piece of a good rotation

-Beasley in a sling (MRI did not show a major injury, they are calling it a bruise)

-Pelicans lost Rondo, Washington lost Shelvin Mac. Let's send Jack there for a conditional #2.

-Wally/Hahn ripped into KP and it was caught on a hot mic, they basically repeated their comments on-air so the hot mic stuff is a bit overrated

-THjr a sweet -21 in 28 minutes of play, defensive God Ron Baker -19 in 24 minutes of play

-Knicks to announce their jersey sponsor/logo today

everytime oquinn and lance came into the game the rockets pushed the lead to double digits...

thjr did not pkay bad and actually was very active and didnt just chuck 3s he was driving to thr hoop and his defense was much better...

lance thomas is god awful and really there is no reason for him to play if the team is filly healthy. tgere are 15 seconds on the shot clock and he is taking contested 3s...

Beasley actually looked pretty good last night...

starters should be frank thjr mcdermott kp willy..

bench jack baker dotson beasley kanter

bench jack lee dotson beasley kanter...

my guess because hornacek has his man crushes it will be: baker lee lance beasley kanter

Noah seems to have lost his quickness and all out desire to be a shutdown defender, I don't know how he fits in with this group.

Knicks will continue to be tough to watch.

DanMetroMan : 10/10/2017 9:36 am : link
is a 0% chance Frank is the starter to begin the season. He's played all of 18 pre-season minutes due to injury. I suspect Sessions is the starter as Jack has played with the second unit. They need to cut someone for Jack to make the team.

Noah looks to be in great shape but yeah I think he's lost the the desire to be a physical presence. I mean on this team he'll still be better than others but we saw it last year the physicality isn't there.

there is literally zero expectations and they have young players, if they lose fine, get anothee top pick, id they win with the young guys flourishinh great...

literally should be no angst...

i agree he wont but i would start him, no reason with no other good point guard on the roster that he shouldnt be starting...

let hin take his lumps..
Kanter
DanMetroMan : 10/10/2017 9:39 am : link
is going to be the basis of non-stop BBI "arguments". Undeniable offensive skills, looks like he hasn't played basketball on the defensive end. No knock on Kanter but I hope Willy gets significant minutes. I think he's potentially our 2nd best player (forget 2nd best young player).
I'm
DanMetroMan : 10/10/2017 9:41 am : link
more than fine letting Frank eventually take his lumps but my primary concern with that is KP/Willy getting quality touches. At times I've seen Sessions get KP the ball on the move in far better position than Rose did last year.
Dan true
nygiants16 : 10/10/2017 9:43 am : link
but the more they all play together i think he will be fine finding kp in the right spots..

hornacek said kp and frank were both expected to practice tomorrow...
I don't want to get go crazy
Chris684 : 10/10/2017 9:44 am : link
but it would be very Knick-like for KP's career to tail off due to injuries.

As a side note, this was the biggest reason I was in favor of entertaining offers for him over the summer. I wanted a haul (like Boston's assets) but if the price was right I would have done it.
I
DanMetroMan : 10/10/2017 9:45 am : link
almost forgot about PG's getting easy buckets for their team and finding their bigs on the move after watching Rose last year. I'm not saying Ramon Sessions is anything special (he's obviously not) but it's somewhat refreshing to see a PG actually be a PG.
Gonna be a great tank year

we're looking
Enzo : 10/10/2017 9:46 am : link
at a bottom 5 defense which will hopefully translate to a bottom 5 record. At the end of the day Hornacek was a Phil hire. Once Phil was sent packing, his days were numbered.

I'm not saying you are wrong but in fairness to the guy he's a huge kid who has worked extremely hard in the gym to put on some level of bulk so some of these random "soreness" type of issues are to be expected. Start having foot fractures and stuff... uh oh. But for now I'm not concerned.

That's the thing. "Most" teams in the NBA have enough talent to win some games but the difference between mediocre and bad is making stops late and this team will not be able to make stops. I predict a ton of "heart breakers".

my thinking with frank starting is more on the defensive end...

very down on Hornacek. Even his apparently being upset with D'Antoni comes off as a weak move (if true). Just seems to live up to his "meek" reputation.

Essentially that if you want to be "the man" you can't be -20 at the half. Questioned his defensive effort etc

they said pbviously not during preseason but when season starts he needs to be able to plah2

thanks...in addition to being a pretty weak team, there's some weird juju with KP still. Hope that at least sorts itself out, while the Knicks tank the season

We might be the worst team in basketball this season.

Especially if KP misses his usual amount of games. Not that I'm complaining.
They have looked about how i expected...
Italianju : 10/10/2017 10:18 am : link
especially without KP playing and with Hornacek changing the lineup to get different looks. I think the Wizard game is going to be how a lot of Knick games go. We hang around for 3 and a half quarters and then the other team pulls away.

The KP stuff is starting to make me nervous. We really need him to have a strong year and get used to being the #1.

Ive really enjoyed Dotson so far. He is very athletic. Def needs to be more aggressive on offense, but that will come. I really hope he gets minutes and doesnt get buried on the bench.

dont worry dotson will be behind lance thomas because he is a leader
Dotson certainly passes the eye test.
bceagle05 : 10/10/2017 10:21 am : link
That's a big win if he's a solid rotation piece going forward.

I seriously dont care that the knicks...
Italianju : 10/10/2017 10:26 am : link
are going to suck this year. Its an obvious building year. What is going to suck is having to watch us suck while we play 30+ year old vets with zero future with the knicks

-Pick Jack or sessions and dump the other one
-Staple Ron Baker to the bench unless people get hurt
-Trade lee and KOQ to a descent team who can use them
Dennis Smith Jr. really should've shown us his medical records.
bceagle05 : 10/10/2017 10:26 am : link
Knicks will be able to get a dynamic scorer at the top of next year's draft.

My concern is him finding minutes for a coach trying to save his job. THjr will get the majority of the 2 minutes so Lee/McDermott/Beasley/Kuz/Thomas... Hopefully guys like Lee are dealt.

I think the Baker deal is worse. Luckily Lance's deal is basically unguaranteed in year 4.

As bad as PJ was he got it right with Porzingis. His value was never going to be higher than this offseason and should have traded him. He should have accepted the Celtics package in a heartbeat and I am sure he could have gotten excellent value from the Suns, etc...The guy has so much ability but not sure if he can be the GUY. You watch him this preseason he is turning into Melo II by stopping ball movement, etc... Guys on this board are infatuated with the names (Eli is another) but it certainly appears that the rebuild is going to be alot longer than people anticiapted and not sure if KP will be part of it.

Pretty much fully capped out with zero flexibility until 2020. Not the end of the world because I don't think they should be targeting any free agents in the next 2 offseasons- but it would still be nice to have some flexibility and possibly take on bad contracts for assets.

I still can't believe Ron Baker got 2 years 9 mill with a player option. What a parting gift from Phil.

I'd be all over New Orleans about making a deal. Send them Lee, Jack or Sessions or even KOQ for a protected 1st or multiple 2nds.. New Orleans needs to win now- take advantage of that.
