I’m driving up Thursday to stay overnight in LIC (30th avenue near 40th street).
I’m pretty flexible on when I can leave the DC area; and I have nothing going on Thursday night so I don’t have to arrive by a certain time.
I wanted to know two things:
1) Driving by car…what time should I leave (it’s about 4+ hours with no traffic) or aim to be crossing the Hudson at?
2) Does it make more sense to take the NJTP to the Lincoln then Ed Koch Bridge OR take the Goenthals/Verazzano to 278?
(Never been to SI or gone over the V Bridge and wanted to).
Thanks.
Since I have flexibility schedule wise, when should I plan on leaving NOVA or aiming to be crossing the Hudson?
Lived in LIC for years
You need to stay away from the city
So the NJ pike north to the Goethals Bridge to Staten Island expressway
To Verrazano Bridge Brooklyn Queens Expressway to McGuinness(left)
Across Pulaski Bridge into local LIC streets Use Waze or navy app you like.
Good Luck

Thanks...google maps was telling me to take the Lincoln Tunnel, which I thought was weird.
Any tips on when I should aim to arrive?
4 hrs puts you in about 130
Just stay away from early am early pm traffic
BTW parking in area shit show so ask around for a cheap lot
There are a few for 20

I got parking at the hotel.
Wow...I thought heading into LIC via SI and Brooklyn during PM rush would have been fine...that's a REVERSE commute.
I'm a transportation planner, in my head, I would assume traffic would be horrible LEAVING Manhattan.
I don't get why it would be bad going from NJ to SI to BK since that is not (during the PM rush) the direction of the job centers.
brooklyn queens expressway to LIC.
nearly impossible to avoid traffic but at least millage.
There is municipal parking by 30th and Steinway and you can park there
