Should the Giants start giving him playing time to get a better idea what they have in him? At the rate we are going we'll have a shot at drafting the top QB in this years draft.... If Webb can show he's a player we would be more comfortable to trade back for multiple picks to build our O-line...
Assuming Webb doesn't play, the Giants will have the most important decision since 2004, namely whether to stay with him or draft a QB in the first round.
Oh, and this, too. In spades.
Like Eric says it won't happen unless Eli gets hurt and then they would play Smith which makes 0 sense to me... I'm just a fan what do I know.
long term with either one . Unless Webb was so bad with the
playbook or something he should have seen more time .
Too friggen late now .
Oh FFS, the team still has to figure out their future. They wouldn't be benching him as a punitive action. They can approach it like the preseason and let Eli play the 1st quarter and let Webb come in for the rest of the game, if they wanted to do so.
The fact is, Eli is 36 and has two years remaining on his contract. It's unlikely that he's going to be around beyond his current contract. They can handle it diplomatically and still see what they have in Webb.
No, read my post. I said we need to see what we have in Webb before we run off and use our #1 on another QB. The guy has the stats and size too, just like them. The difference is we already have Webb. If he isn't the right guy then we can draft a QB to be the future, either next year or the year after.

he's worth passing on a QB in the first round in next year's draft. If he's that good, he should get some starts.

I was referring to other posters in other threads.
Now that the objective is more about player development, I would bump Webb past Smith. It seems a little unfair to Geno, who has skills, but it seems necessary in case the Giants are drafting top 5.
