I'm still a Manning supporter. This team will need to be rebuilt. Would trading Eli to Jacksonville or Minnesota be a possible option? This team could use another draft pick and Eli deserves far better. No O-line, no running game and no receivers. I would hate to see Eli carted off the field at this stage of his career.
If a trade could be orchestrated before the trade deadline, then we get to eat the cap hit this year. We would save the salary expenses remaining on the contract.
If the trade deadline passes, then there is a 3 day window at the start of the league year a trade could be worked out (requiring Eli to waive the NTC). On the 3rd day of the league year, Eli earns a $5 MM roster bonus.
If Eli is released before the roster bonus, then the Giants can get some cap relief in that they can designate his release as a June 1st cut and spread the cap charge over 2 years.
From Eli's standpoint .... better oline, fournette/run game, very good defense and no state income tax.

ty..clarifying the specifics
Jones is also the type of owner who would do it. Giants would never trade him to Dallas but how do you know Coughlin wouldn’t if you sent Eli to Jax

I really can't tell if this is a joke or not. I'm going to operate under the assumption it is. LOL, this is great!
It hits the team trading the player (Giants).
Excellent summary Diver_Down.
Don't think it's all that much better in Jax.
Eli's price tag means we're not getting anything in return. If he wants to move on, it likely means we're cutting him.
But there's no doubt in my mind 2018 will be it for Eli as a Giant.

I just wanted to provide the basics scenarios without commentary as it seems it is lost on the vast majority of fans what can be done.
To also add to the breakdown, we can't afford cap wise to trade him this year. We would have to shuffle money around to make it work. We do not have the cap space to eat Manning's cap hit that remains on his contract.
After the trade deadline, teams cannot inquire about other players that are under contract to another team. It is called tampering. Once the league year opens, then a trade can occur next year. There are 3 days to orchestrate a trade before the roster bonus is due. Eli has $5 MM reasons not to waive the NTC. If he is released, he can negotiate a current market value contract. Suffice to say, he is worth more than $10.5 MM cash salary due next year. If Glennon can negotiate a $16 MM/yr salary, Manning a 2x SB MVP is certainly worth more.
That the BBI mods allow this troll to continue to post after he admits he's got dupe handles is bizarre.
Teams that may be interested now if an injury were to occur:
1) Denver- if TS gets hurt no way to they hope Brock is the guy the rest of the year and Lynch is definitely not.
2) Dallas- Prescott goes down and the Boys make a call.
3) Jacksonville- mentioned above
4) Pittsburgh- Mara's and Rooney's have a good relationship...
5) New England- If Brady went down how Ironic would it be if the the Pats came calling about Eli.

Do some research. Not certain you quite understand what a dupe handle is. It would imply that numerous handles are being used at the same time to post opinions . FYI!!!
What they don't take into account is the NTC.
In all likelihood the Giants will be sub-500 in 18.
Remaining signing bonus that had been amortized over the life of the deal all comes due for the original team; upcoming guaranteed salary and other bonuses that are not yet paid become the responsibility of the acquiring team.

What you might be missing is that Eli can waive the NTC in order to earn that $5MM. In other words, if there is a trade on the table to a destination that he finds acceptable (or even desirable), he could waive the NTC within the first three days of the new league year which would put the new team on the hook for the $5MM bonus plus his 2018 salary.
So while you might be correct about Eli earning more than $10.5MM on the open market (I'm not necessarily sure that you're right, if only because of age, but just going along with your scenario), it's considerably less likely that he'll get a contract that will exceed $16MM (he has a $500K workout bonus as well, as I'm sure you know) or $33MM over two years for his age 37/38 seasons.
Whether it's Webb or one of the top college prospects, none of them will be ready to take the reigns next year. Eli gives us the best chance to be successful next season. As grim as it currently looks, it wouldn't be unrealistic for the Giants to put together a strong 2018 season. The NFL is extremely momentum based and with a few key additions, there is enough talent in house to make some noise.
Take the QB of the future with a likely top 5 pick this season. 10 years from now, we might look back on this season as a blessing, allowing us to secure our next franchise QB for the next 15+ years. The last thing we need is to have our QB situation in turmoil 3 years from now during Odell's true prime.
Eli has diminished greatly, IMO, but he's still a starting caliber QB and could have some success behind a rock solid OL. I'd 100% be for trading Eli if we could get multiple top picks.

On top of which, I don't see any other team being interested in helping to solve the Giants' issues, especially the Jaguars. So, yeah, if the Giants are willing to take a bag of used jockstraps in return for their qb and his contract, there can be a deal.
What are you willing to settle for to trade Manning? How desperate are you to trade him?

Cap space and draft picks. This is a complete teardown.
