“I love playing for McAdoo, man,” Goodson, 24, a second-year player out of Clemson, said at his locker. “There are so many reasons. I could sit up here (all day). But he leads by example, man. For one, you never want to see a coach go astray. And I feel like in this situation right here, just seeing his response in a situation like this, from the first loss we had all the way through to the last loss, seeing the way he responds is very important. |

Goodson, though, also said he doesn’t view Sunday’s frustrations from Apple, Landon Collins (saying “ask coach”) and Janoris Jenkins (leaving the field early) as negatives. He views them as proof that McAdoo is keeping the players engaged. |
Fire them both.
Goodson has been involved in some of the biggest breakdowns on D. He just can’t cover NFL TEs.
So, not to be overly cynical, but job security probably does have something to do with his comments

can't condone this though
Ha ha, plus, he has only played for McAdoo in the NFL and to be honest hasn't done enough to be listened to as the voice of the locker room.
If you don't have to work hard, you can relax and jerk around, and people aren't held accountable for critical mistakes, why wouldn't you love it? That goes for pretty much any work environment.
Many guys hated playing for Parcells and Coughlin, the two best Giants head coaches in my lifetime. Working really hard and being accountable for every mistake aren't for everyone.
Nothing against Goodson, specifically, as he's trying to do the right thing and protect his embattled coach. But if I were the owner of a sports team, the degree to which my players "loved" playing for the coach wouldn't factor much into my evaluations.

Completely agree.

Simms would also go on to say, not in the book, that having a coach that doesn't push you is the worst thing. Because most athletes won't push themselves to their max........and get complacent.
McAdoo needs to be stop being friends with the players so to speak, and push them, demand their max effort.
We are not getting it right now.
"I know guys to this day that don't like Bill Parcells. But they'll play hard for him".
That's coaching.
Back when he was hired, I remember saying it was kind of weird how nobody had much to say about him then, either. And nobody from GB seemed to have much to say about him either. Beyond "good guy" stuff.
As bad as I dislike this OL, they have no chance run blocking for this scheme and pass blocking for Eli Manning, within this scheme. The scheme is making everybody look bad, I truly believe that.
But the problem is he appears to be a poor motivator, and they just don't have a lot of confidence in his ability or take him that seriously.
They are not alone.
considered a strict disciplinarian which is rare.
He put some stuff on Eli in public he shouldn't have.
I don't think anyone needs to motivate Eli through public comments.
Another reason he his lost this team.
Fire his ass and show this fan base you care about the franchise and the fans
That show maturity and leadership from a 24 year old. Impressive. Anyone can call themselves a leader when things are going fine. I am interested to see who steps up now. Good to see Goodson doing that.

Pete Carroll. but he was a disaster in New England.
