It will be interesting to see how this moment ages... IMHO the bottom of the 9th would have been much different if we only had a 1 run lead. link - ( New Window )
Curious that he dropped strike three at the end of the game yet he never tagged the batter. Did anyone else notice that?
About half dozen of us..curious because Jackson stood there arguing and Sanchez picked up the ball and walked toward Chapman The umpire even turned and walked away..Frazier was yelling to tag him. I know once he leaves the batting area he gives up the right to advance. Maybe there is a "time" limit too - either go immediately or you forfeit your ability to go??
I was wondering about that too. Why didn't Gary just tag him to be sure? Seemed odd, but nobody seemed to make anything of it, so I guess Gary knew what he was doing.
RE: im not a fair weather fan. i had given up on baseball entirely
I didnt have faith in Cashman rebuilding the team and starting with the prospects.
I am gladly saying that i was wrong and im back to being a fan. The team looks great and even if they dont win the ALCS, they have a real bright future ahead of them.
go Yanks
.
We have a core four now, with Sanchez, Didi, Judge, and Severino. This team reminds me of the 1996 team that no one gave a chance to against the Braves. That team went down 0-2 too and came back and swept the Braves to start off the dynasty. I believe the Yanks have the makings of another dynasty!
I would go Gray, Cici, Severino and Tanaka. I think you can go with Cici because he only pitched 4 and 3rds innings. He should be ready and should be expected to give you a similar 5 innings of solid pitching. That's all we need. And I think you want Severino taking the ball for game 7.

I can't believe the Yanks

are going with Sonny Gray again in game 1. Is he the new Kenny Rogers circa 1996?
If Gray can steal a W, great. If not, you just used him against Kuechel. Better than possibly wasting a quality start by another guy
I have always had that philosophy. Pitching your ace against the opponents can be futile. I'm not saying you should concede the game to the opponent. However, having your ace against the 2nd best pitcher is an advantage.

Interesting, thanks.
Funny thing is the last camera shot he is still standing the the batters box squawking at the ump and had not left the dirt circle area...moot point.

Yeah, that's what I saw too. But given the rule, maybe the ump just called him out when he stood there arguing instead of running to first base. Strange play, but moot all right.
I think you are right. Tanaka is much better at home which is strange since it is a smaller park. I just hate starting Gray at the start of the series as he never seems to get far even if pitching well which then taxes the bullpen right away.

It is insane to suggest starting Gray twice in a 7-game series for all the marbles.

It was weird, and the clip of Frazier running, pointing, and shouting for the tag was exactly how I felt. Just please tag him.
Great night all the way around and no matter what happens against HOU, this team has made 2017 a good sports year, in spite of the Giants best efforts to derail it.

I watched that. A-Rod, Papi and Keith are quite a trio. There were some funny parts.

I want Sevy on the road and Tanaka at home.

Now - beat HOU so we can be in the series again!
