must be smiling.

Yanks-Cubs would be cool.
Had the Red Sox beaten the Astros...

It would've been a ratings bonanza.

Don't start with that - I thought Yanks-Cubs was a lock in 2003, and would've had tickets in both venues. Thankfully Dusty can now ruin another franchise.
Manfred has to be dancing

if the Yankees win the ALCS, they are pretty much guaranteed top ratings in the World Series. Either a Cubs repeat against the young Yankees, or go back to the 1970s/early 1980s with the Yankees vs. LA Dodgers...or trot out the history of Brooklyn vs. the Yankees.

With the NFL shooting itself in the foot and embroiled in controversy, no matter which side you take on the anthem thing, MLB is in position to chip away at a strangehold the NFL has had on the country for about 23 years since the strike.
Go figure, I've been to Houston many times

and had no idea they were the 4th by population. Guess the city boundaries are bigger than I thought.

Bob Papa is on the FAN this morning with Boomer and he said the Giants organization is very lucky that the Yankees' run is providing them with cover for the 0-5 disaster.

Uh, wtf? You do realize that every one of these teams are still playing because of their young, homegrown talent, right? What does the salary cap have to do with anything? You also do realize how many small market teams have had success over the past couple of decades, correct?

...

Interesting to see Cubs and Astros at 8 and 18th in payroll.

Also to note if you subtract payroll to guys not on the team Yanks might not be in top 5.

No it wouldn't , people are sick of that rivalry. Both teams are disliked throughout the country

Houston Astros in the world series against the returning championship Chicago Cubs after the Harvey aftermath will have casual sports fans tuning in to see the drama unfold.
