Boomer was going on about it today on the morning show. Isn't really realistic considering the salary cap, and of course the no trade restriction.
Let the 2 kids battle it out in camp and preseason. Play Eli as long as effective through 18.

He has to say what he is publicly right now, but unless he has retirement on the table, this is obviously not going to come to pass (even if they make the mistake of giving him one more year) and he will finish his career elsewhere.

If they’re in a position to draft Rosen or Darnold, they’ll likely have to do it because it’s a rare opportunity. But if not, I think it’s in the best interests of the Giants to build correctly around Eli because he still has years left. Hopefully with a new head coach.
Right now, this is the statement he has to make. At the end of the season we'll know more about what he wants to do. I don't doubt for a second that he'd like to remain here and finish up his career, but if he didn't, it's not like he'd be broadcasting it at this point.

I do think he has some solid football left in him, but 2-3 years isn't enough to be at the center of what really should be an organization wide tear down. A new GM and a new HC should be granted the right to start fresh and bring in their own QB too, as part of that.
(Of course, this is what I think they should do, burning it all down. I still unfortunately believe they will retain Reese and not even McAdoo's fate is sealed, however much of a mistake it may all be. If they both get to keep their jobs, Eli being the sacrificial lamb to excuse them for this mess has zero appeal.)

Hell - even if they did go with a QB high - they'd still have a draft pick high in each round and some cap space to deal with, they could get it turned around quickly with the right people in charge. Only question is, who are those people?

Agree 1000% , Eli has earned his keep here. No fan should be allowed to question the guys desire to play as a NY Giant for the rest of his career. He is a major part as to why the Giants now have 2 additional superbowls

Fans need to really take a long look in the mirror and re-evaluate what type of fan are you. Are you the appreciative die hard who is objective and can open their eyes and see the struggle in this league and what Eli did is pretty remarkable and just enjoy the ride
Or are you the fair weather type who needs the Giants to win every Sunday to a degree of perfection so that you can go along in your life much happier with yourself but when things turn sour your immediately turn to overly critical beliefs that you know better and need immediate drastic change.

And don't forget other "franchise QB's", and now perennially All-Pro's like Josh Freeman (the next big thing), Butt Fumble Sanchez, Matt Leinert, J'Marcus Russel, and the list goes on and on. All these guys were drafted in Rd 1 since Eli started.

First off, why are you including Cam Newton in that list? The guy won MVP and went to a superbowl 2 years ago and is absolutely better than Eli as of today.
Joe Flacco is in the same position as Eli. A great organization that cannot build a complete team because the QB who is good but not great eats up way too much of the cap space.
I think we can all agree that the guys I mentioned are way better passers than RG3. I don't blame you guys for trying to cling to our franchise QB, but what good is it going to do? We as fans deserve a winner. Last year was an outlier to years of garbage teams and to be honest, Eli was not good at all last year.
Why can't we wipe the slate clean and start over? In what world does Eli at this point deserve $20MM a year? This team has the unique opportunity to lose and lose and get the next great QB and that is exactly what this team should do.
Even if he sticks around for 2 more years, what better a start to a career could you ask for than being able to stick around on the bench learning from Eli? Before the salary cap made it untenable, QBs used to have to sit for a couple of years and learn the game before they got their chance. Anyone you draft will have a 5 year contract (well, 4+option), so it's not like they're going anywhere. Might as well take advantage for this shitty season for whatever upside we can get out of it.
Or he gets his back broken by the Bronco's.

Yes, he did quit in that Superbowl, and no, I wouldn't want him on my team, but that doesn't change the fact that he is a better QB as of today than Eli Manning.
I do believe Eli is a better QB than Flacco, but like Eli has done twice in the playoffs, he elevated his game to an incredible level in 2012 and won his team a superbowl. Much like the Giants now, their team around him is garbage because they both make money that hurts the rest of the team.
There are QBs that can win in spite of a terrible offensive line play or bad skill position players (Rodgers, Wilson), but Flacco and Eli are not among that group. This team needs resources to fix the offensive line. Having a rookie QB making 1/5th of what Eli is making would certainly make that a lot easier.

Who cares what he was in one game last night. Eli threw multiple interceptions against the Eagles too. Aside from the superbowl hangover year last year, the Panthers have been excellent with Cam Newton over the last 4 or so years. Here is a list of his receivers in the 15-1 MVP superbowl season in 2015: Kelvin Benjamin, Ted Ginn, Jr., Devin Funchess, Stephen Hill, Kevin Norwood, Jerricho Cotchery, Avius Capers.
Either that or this OL is going to have to be built up into one of the league's best to actually protect him.
For all that Eli brings to the table, and it's a lot, he simply can't hold up long term under consistent pressure. Few QBs can, but Eli especially cannot.

You can include Archie and Peyton in that sentiment also. If I was Archie I would have had a come to Jesus meeting with Mara and the Empty Suit demanding they wise up and correct this shit many seasons ago.
Agree...one has nothing to do with the other. Eli is an asset that is near the end of his life cycle as an NFL QB. The smart business decision is to start taking a serious look at his replacement. That does not mean drafting another backup in the 3rd round.
