NGT - NFC Predictions

I Love Clams Casino : 10/13/2017 10:00 am
There are 11 games left and a lot of football to be played, but with what happened last night, Philadelphia is looking like one of the best teams in the NFL right now. Dallas or Washington, I suppose could surge, but with that Philly front 7, unless they get seriously banged up, I think they will go to the championship game.

Elsewhere, it looks like Green Bay is the class of the North.

Nobody out West looks like much except for maybe Seattle, but their O Line looks suspect. I think LA Rams are a season or 2 away.

Atlanta has tons of talent and after last year, are playing with a purpose, but how do you lose to Buffalo? That loss may be an anomaly, but Buffalo is very good.

Right now I see it as GB vs Philly, and if GB gets home field, I'd give it to GB. If Philly gets home field, it's a toss up
I hate to admit it

but I agree with you that Green Bay and Philly are the best two teams in the NFC right now. That can easily change. Atlanta is still a threat, and Seattle always seems to get better as the season goes on. Philly is as complete a team on both sides of the ball as there is. Green Bay has the Rodgers factor, which ultimately should lead them to the Super Bowl.
No argument here

I think Washington could slip into the mix as well with a wild card. I think Dallas is going to be a .500 team at best
Honestly?

Couldn't give two shits. The miserable performance of the Giants, and my subsequent complete lack of interest in the rest of the league, has confirmed to me that I'm strictly a Giants fan at this point, not a football or NFL fan. Hate the kind of football that's played in the league now.
this may be the Year philly gets that SB championship

It's a sad commentary but this league is headed for the toilet.

It's the perfect storm for me

The combination of the Giants being so bad and the circus going on with the anthem, it is very easy for me not to tune in. The only thing left for me to root for is for Dallas to lose.
someone doesnt tune in because of the anthem

which is rarely broadcast anyway?

Its still fairly early - health and momentum always alter trajectories... Dallas and Washington could still win the east. I think Detroit still has a pretty good team too. Atlanta lost to Buffalo because Jones and Sanu both got hurt. They'll be in the mix again, though Matt Ryan does seem to have regressed back to pre-2016 form again.
always fun to predict

I say div winners are

Philly
GB
ATL
Sea

WC to Lions

the 6th one up for grabs.

AFC seems interesting also, at least for now.
Before the season started I predicted
idinkido : 10/13/2017 11:31 am : link
that the Eagles would be our toughest competition in the division. I also derided the Cowboys and said that there would be a good chance that they would start out this year as 0-3. Wasn't sure how our OL would perform or even if Eli would have time to throw. Was positive our D would eat up Dallas. I pointed out that Dallas D is weaponless and OL had to replace 2 starters. Was positive that Dallas would have a sub .500 record. Never thought we would be so bad. Well still can be correct about Dallas and we will have to see how that plays out. Really disappointed about our team. Hope we end up with a really bad record and get an early first rd. pick: hopefully a QB. Stock the QB position with talent. Let Eli start next season and then let's see how that plays out.
Philly...

looks like the best overall team right now in the NFC. But it's still early. I think Washington could push them, we'll see.

They need to be careful with Wentz and how he plays...he's going to get hurt if he continues to fight for every yard.

They're also getting terrific special teams (esp their place kicker) and last night turnovers decided that game - 2 scores consisting of drives less than 20 yards.

Injuries will play a major factor, as always.
just to clarify

My comment has nothing at all to do with the anthem stuff. It's about the way football is played in the NFL now, and it's a subject I've been discussing here for years, long before there were any anthem protests.

Great post and this describes how I feel exactly. I used to watch NYG + 2 or 3 other games every week SNF, MNF, TNF. Still still watch Gmen but nothing else unless its already on somewhere I am. Nothing to do with the anthem protests just does not really look like real football anymore more like a reality show sports hybrid.
What amazes me moreso

Is that we could and should have beaten the Eagles in Philly. They definitely looked like the team to beat last night, but let's not forget also that it was Thursday night football and I'm not so sure teams are ever truly prepared for that game. Secondly, Cam was a nightmare last night throwing the ball?! That Philly front is the key to their season. Just like it was for us in 2011 and 2007. The Eagles defense had balls practically fall right into their hands.
Looks like a filthydelphia/Pats super bowl!
