He is not the same players. fact is 31 teams passed up a trade on him. Why give up a pick if one can now sign him on a prove me type deal?
The Niners told him his play was declining. He disagreed and asked for his release. There was a trade worked out with one team but he didn't want to go to that team so the Niners just released him.

they may add Bowman, but if they do I expect them to cut Harris, two LB's who can no longer run don't fit that defense.
