If Denny is busy elsewhere, we'll just have to step it up without him. Let's go Yankees!

we get at least another
PaulBlakeTSU : 10/13/2017 10:36 pm : link
chance with all the hitters we could want to put together 2 runs.

But if there's another low strike called on Judge, Girardi HAS to pitch a fit.
I blame the hitters approach
hitdog42 : 10/13/2017 10:37 pm : link
Not the strike zone.
Yes it’s infuristing but it’s not causing hitters to swing at pitches that start below their knees..... that is called stubbornly looking/hopingmfor fast balls that don’t arrive

Yes it is...because when strikes are called at the shins, the hitters have to assume 2 strike pitches aren't going to be in the dirt
Chad Green with his first appearance
dpinzow : 10/13/2017 10:39 pm : link
since Game 2 in Cleveland
Ill be the first to bitch about the zone he gets
Stu11 : 10/13/2017 10:40 pm : link
He got a few tonight but that wasnt the problem. Our approach was for shit tonight especially the last few innjngs. Swung at such garbage. Bird, Gardy and Sanchez got themselves out 7 times tonight. Well never hit him unless we change our approach.
...
christian : 10/13/2017 10:41 pm : link
I don't blame begrudge the zone but it has to go both ways. Altuve should be ring up if Green rolls it on the ground. That's about the season 8 inches the Stros are getting below Judge's knees.

. They are flailing... which means they are looking for a fast ball with 2 strikes? It’s not coming- sit on the junk. React to the fastball. If you sit on junk then even the ball that is low they can still time
Infield hit for Bregman
dpinzow : 10/13/2017 10:44 pm : link
Frazier tried but Bregman was too fast
Very nice inning from Green
dpinzow : 10/13/2017 10:45 pm : link
Yanks have 6 outs to make something happen against that bullpen
Nice job by green
hitdog42 : 10/13/2017 10:45 pm : link
Let’s get some runners on
Ok
Matt in SGS : 10/13/2017 10:46 pm : link
Let that smelly barn raising douchebag and his Duck Commander beard hit the showers and tee off on their average pen. Steal this game
Gardner just holds up on the 3-2 in the dirt
dpinzow : 10/13/2017 10:52 pm : link
Draws the walk with 1 out
It would be an OK time
mfsd : 10/13/2017 10:53 pm : link
for Judge or Sanchez or both to get it going here
We can't win this series
bceagle05 : 10/13/2017 10:53 pm : link
without Judge and Sanchez. Now's as good a time as any...
It's time for the Judge
BigBlueShock : 10/13/2017 10:53 pm : link
.
...
christian : 10/13/2017 10:54 pm : link
Judge just needs to let it come to him. A walk would be fantastic. He needs to force better pitching.
That's not a fucking strike!
BigBlueShock : 10/13/2017 10:56 pm : link
.
Good job not chasing by Gary
mfsd : 10/13/2017 11:01 pm : link
Didi time
Don't get
MookGiants : 10/13/2017 11:02 pm : link
running for Sanchez here.

If that umpire really thinks that first pitch is a strike, he needs to find a new profession
Umpire Fairchild the MVP for Houston tonight
dpinzow : 10/13/2017 11:05 pm : link
First pitch to Didi was easily outside. Houston getting lots of home cooking. Just not our night
Faaaaaa
mattlawson : 10/13/2017 11:05 pm : link
Uck
That being said, it shows you how little confidence
dpinzow : 10/13/2017 11:06 pm : link
AJ Hinch has in his pen to go to his closer for 5 outs in Game 1 and not even let his best setup man in Devenski face Judge
Nothing more fun
RasputinPrime : 10/13/2017 11:07 pm : link
Than watching paint dry or a Maddux strike zone. These pitchers are too good to get free strikes.

Fucking BAH
Altuve now 11-19 in the playoffs
dpinzow : 10/13/2017 11:14 pm : link
that's obscene
Altuve is impressive
dune69 : 10/13/2017 11:14 pm : link

Green gets Correa to fly out to right center
dpinzow : 10/13/2017 11:15 pm : link
Last chance time for the Yanks
Castro's never holding up on that
dpinzow : 10/13/2017 11:21 pm : link
2 outs left
on the bright side
jgambrosio : 10/13/2017 11:26 pm : link
30 pitches for Giles means he's not available tomorrow. If we can get to Verlander, they dont' have much to fall back on
BIRDMAN HOMERS OFF GILES
dpinzow : 10/13/2017 11:27 pm : link
A tape measure shot that hits the foul pole!
Bird is the word!
jgambrosio : 10/13/2017 11:27 pm : link
One more boys! Come on!
BYE BYE BIRDIE!
adamg : 10/13/2017 11:28 pm : link
And we're on the board in the ALCS!
Bird crushes one
mfsd : 10/13/2017 11:28 pm : link
Ellsbury have any juice in his bat tonight?

At the least, hopefully that gets Bird locked in for the rest of the series
BIRD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dave in Hoboken : 10/13/2017 11:28 pm : link
.
Just wanted Castro or Hicks
dune69 : 10/13/2017 11:28 pm : link
to get on because I felt Bird had one of those for tonight.
at least didn't get shut out
micky : 10/13/2017 11:29 pm : link

Umpire isn't swinging at sliders 8 inches outside the zone
KerrysFlask : 10/13/2017 11:29 pm : link
No excuse.

This game is fucking boring.

Yay for bird. If he knew how to run the fucking bases like a little leaguer does, this would be tied.
Once again ellsbury is a fucking waste
jgambrosio : 10/13/2017 11:30 pm : link
.
Not our night
dpinzow : 10/13/2017 11:30 pm : link
The only thing this accomplished is no Giles for Game 2 and their bullpen is wafer thin

Go fuck yourself. Idiot.
Have to say
Matt in SGS : 10/13/2017 11:31 pm : link
I’m not all that impressed with Houston. The Yankees were still hungover. If Verlander doesn’t pitch well, the Yankees are going to push their shit in and go back 1-1
Ahhhhh, shitballs
mfsd : 10/13/2017 11:31 pm : link
Taking game 1 on the road against Keuchel was always a tough task, but we had our chances in this one

Yanks need to be better if they want to win this
Jesus
PaulBlakeTSU : 10/13/2017 11:32 pm : link
a 2-1 baseball game shouldn't take 3:21

All right Yankees. Get em tomorrow.

Positive takeaways:
- Tanaka looked really good even with his splitter not perfect
- Judge looking a little better
- Bird HR
- Chad Green back on track

And when they face Keuchel again, I have a feeling it will be a bit different. More patient, geting him out earlier. Let's hope we get ALDS Sevy tomorrow, not WIld Card Sevy.
Actually not so disappointed.
section125 : 10/13/2017 11:34 pm : link
Keuchel got the benefit of many balls called strikes. I think it is funny Smoltz was flat out saying Judge is getting screwed and needs to speak up.

The Astros hit with RISP in one inning and the Yankees did not as per the usual M.O.. But they were getting to Keuchel and he threw 105 pitches. They got to Devenski and hit the HR off Giles.
If there's such a thing as a good loss, that was it.
bceagle05 : 10/13/2017 11:35 pm : link
Robbie and Chappy are well-rested now, Judge looked better - we can play with these guys. Altuve and Correa are beasts, but the rest can be pitched to. Hopefully we can take tomorrow's game and really put the heat on them. Houston knows they have a tough battle ahead.
Ellsbury and Headley are shitty veterans that Girardi
Jim in Hoboken : 10/13/2017 11:36 pm : link
goes to repeatedly for no good reason. Those two haven’t come close to doing anything, they should be glued to the bench no matter what the binder says.
and I'll keep banging the drum
PaulBlakeTSU : 10/13/2017 11:36 pm : link
Girardi has to protect Judge and make a fuss about these low strikes.
We out played them IMO
Bchurch : 10/13/2017 11:37 pm : link
Didn't give us much of a shot today so encouraged by that. I think we are going to rock tomorrow. Kegal was tough but let's get a good night rest and tee off on that douche Verlander and his fat titty girl.

I agree. I didn't think the Yankees would win this one. Coming off an emotional win in Cleveland, probably celebrating a bunch. A reset on the road against a pitcher who kills them, I'm not surprised they were shut out most of the game. But Judge looks like he's starting to figure it out more. The bats will come around against Verlander. And Houston's pen scares no one. They won't have their closer tomorrow and if he tries to come in, he won't be sharp. In my mind, if Sevy pitches well and Verlander doesn't go 7 innings, the Yankees are going to bomb them tomorrow. There is no one in that Houston pen who will keep the Yankees down. Just come back to Bronx tied at 1-1 and the Yankees will pour it on them at home.

He should have done it months ago. It's just inane at this point.

Judge turned on a 99mph pitch way inside - he's a beast. He isn't able to golf and play baseball at the same time however.
