He was pissed when he was traded to Jax. He didn't want to play for a losing franchise and he wanted more money. He held out and eventually retired. When he learned that he had to pay back part of the signing bonus to Jax, then he came back to the team. But they had moved on and drafted Robinson. At which point he was released. Irony is that Jax is 1st in their division and he is trying out for the losing franchise that hasn't won a game. Fuck that guy.
From my understanding, is that he notified the Jags of his intent to retire, but never filed the paperwork. As an administrative matter, they placed him on the Reserve/Retired list which doesn't count against the roster count. Doing so also allowed the Jags to seek repayment of the remaining pro-rated balance of the signing bonus. When Albert learned of this loophole and realized he would have to pay Jax a couple million, he suddenly wanted to return. Not to foster ill-will and keep the distraction, the Jags released him outright. I don't think Albert ever followed through with any formal paperwork to retire.
We need one more distraction and an OL that will take a month to get in shape and help us win 2 games and cost 4-5M this year and 9M next(he won't sign a 1/2 year contract).
