I am a big Primus fan, but I don't think you have to be a "Primus fan" per we to appreciate this new effort. At first listen through I was not impressed. I wasn't sure I really loved the rainbow goblins concept album with only 7 tracks weighing in at barely over 30 minutes. It's fair to say I was a little disappointed, especially coming off the not so great Chocolate Factory album. I gave it a few days and listened again, from start to finish and few more times and the beauty of this album started to overtake my brain. Herb is back on the kit and Les and Ler continue to do their other worldly mind bending tricks. I've come to really appreciate this as more of a throw back piece mixing some of the dark tones of Pork Soda with the militant styles of Seas of Cheese. Also the Roger Waters and Geddy Lee influences are pretty out in the open. I give this a solid 8.5/10 only leaving points off for shortness of length and maybe lack of some full blown Ler solos that I love so much. Give it a listen, or ten.
