I know it's still early in the season, but all this discussion on Eli's replacement in the draft next April has me thinking we should ask you your "now" thoughts on the 2018 QB Class.

Without even thinking about the possibility of a "house cleaning" of both the GM and x-amount of the coaching staff, plus the slot where we may draft, who might be worthy of a top one-six/seven slot?

I am asking the quick versions, meaning:

1. Quick release
2. Throws a great/accurate deep ball
3. Is mobile (what a thought?)
4. Is a leader
5. Has a high football IQ

Also where does Davis Webb fit into the five points above and does he have any potential to be Eli's replacement?

Knowing that a lot of BBI would clamor for OL, I know it's been mentioned that the next class will be very good, but there is no true "Hall of Famer" in waiting.

Would BBI implode if Penn State RB Saquon Barkley was the pick and is he worth it?

Just looking for information and your thoughts as well as everyone else's.

we have to see how the season plays out and where we pick....

Then ownership and front office have to come to some sort of agreement, of what is the PLan?

Is it a rebuild, and the main focus is drafting a QB of the future? If that is the case, do you keep the same people in charge to make these decisions, or do you clean house and bring in a GM, that will bring in his new HC, with new coordinators?

Or god forbid, do we just have another sacrificial lamb?

Or

Do we plod along like we have the last 7 seasons, and change nothing, thinking we are just one or two players away?
My fear is that we get more half measures

I have this feeling we might get a new OC, draft Barkley, and try again. This team has been doing the bandaid trick for a few years now.

Barkley is a player, but they need to blow this thing up and start over.

From a personal point of view I hope it's the former not the latter.

I agree they need to blow this up and try anew.

Everyone is talking how wonderful the top few QBs are. I am wondering from experts like Sy56 and KWALL if they are truly worth the top picks and if they meet the 5 specifics I listed earlier.

I truly hope if we do draft a QB, he is not a statue as having a QB who can run somewhat and move the chains is where we need an upgrade in our next QB......see Alex Smith, and Aaron Rodgers as examples.
''Blow it up'' is a platitude

which moreover ignores the fact that NY has massive albatross contracts around its neck making that impossible anyway.

What they need to do is

A) stop sucking at drafting offensive linemen
B) Hire a coaching staff with some imagination that can exploit opponent weaknesses and make in game adjustments

Tempting to be pessimistic and say it's a multi year prescription but, I dunno, parity + some solid core players + hopefully some luck might make it less painful than the doomsayers would have us believe.

I endorse this 100%. Not that anyone cares.

I really don't want to project specific players to NYG. There is still so much to do scouting wise...gathering info, letting things play out. I am trying to steer Ourlads away from me doing mock drafts, thus I am simply doing 4 write ups per week on a random-ish list of guys.

I still have plenty to watch and see. And at this point, all positions are a possibility for NYG, WR included.

I have been disappointed by the QB class to this point. I think Rosen is the only one that I would consider a legit top 5 talent as of now.

And yes, as gidie mentioned, Barkley is my highest rated talent right now. And nobody is close.

Thanks Sy. I tend to share your view of the qb class. It's good, but not the 1983 or even 2004 type it was hyped to be. Rosen is the only one who is at that level, but I see many teams being reluctant to take him given his outspoken nature.

Barkley is an absolute monster. I think he is every bit the Adrian Peterson type rb that is worthy of a top 5 pick. Of course Peterson went 7 overall.

I have not been paying as much attention to the WRs. Who has caught your eye? If this season ends as poorly for the Giants as it we think it will, I really don't think they will spend a top ten pick on a wr.
Sy, thanks in advance for all your work

and all your contributions. I hope you don't spend a single minute on mock drafts. For dunderheads with nothing better to do, it might be amusing. For you I think it's a total waste of time and talent.

If and when you have time, could you take a look at a smaller school LT and let me know what you think. Chide Okeke plays at Tennessee State University, was a transfer form LSU. Came to the game very late, played soccer before taking up FB. Met him recently, smart kid, good kid. Admits his technique was a work in progress.
