Should the Yankees have considered making a play for Verlander at the September 1 deadline if it would've cost them Chance Adams, Miguel Andujar, and Donny Sands (similar value to the trio that the Tigers got from the Astros)? Leave the money factor out of the equation for the sake of argument because we don't know how much of his contract the Tigers are picking up in the deal with the Astros (one report said it was at least $10M of the $56M remaining over two years).
