DENVER -- The game of musical chairs on the New York Giants' offensive line has Justin Pugh at right tackle, D.J. Fluker at right guard and John Jerry at left guard this week against the Denver Broncos, multiple sources told ESPN.
Sources: Justin Pugh to start at right tackle across from Von Miller vs. Denver - (
New Window )
He apparently came down with Von Milleritis this morning.
Giants need to try and run at Miller.
As I had wanted Flowers-Jones-Richburg-Fluker-Pugh from the start
Now finally only after his hand was forced due to injuries we're seeing configurations many were calling for from the start. McAdoo failed to generate meaningful competition with this unit. Shame on him. 5 losses in and we're finally coming around to this just now?
This stubbornness is at the top of a long list of reasons why he needs to go.
Agree.as to Hart.Seen enough.
We could have gone through all of camp with Pugh getting reps/improving at tackle and same for Jones or Fluker at guard. The Dallas game, most of the Detroit game and San Diego games were all wasted with poor OL performances with Pugh at guard.

They can put out there
and leave Hart on the bench at least Pugh solidifies the
RT pass rush as Flowers seems o be getting a bit better
Hart is not a tackle period he should be groomed for one
of the guard spots he is not NFL ready !
We ran the ball well last week vs one of the worst run Ds (if not Ds). And managed to call as few runs as possible in moments we should have, given all the success. Baffling after weeks of focus on improving the run
Even if we get the right OL w/ the right playcalls, I feel like both these games we're unlikely to cross the 50 if ever. Anything can happen, it's why they play the game etc etc but...

Spot on, these jobs were bestowed upon this line with no competition and no matter how bad they played no one lost their job due to poor play!
We have seen enough of Pugh at RT. We are going backwards. Coughlin used to talk all the time about how we needed to "get bigger on the offensive line." Pugh at RT and Richburg at LG in 2014 prompted those comments Reese was wrong about Bobby Hart, who really never could beat out Marshall Newhouse, who was directly responsible for Pugh's knee injury, and who will likely end up working at McDonald's rather than finding a niche at Guard in the NFL. We let several established Left Tackles come and go because Reese told them they'd have to play RT while giving way to Ereck Flowers, who is a natural RT, at LT for the simple reason that Reese is too arrogant to see Flowers moved now as opposed to his rookie year when we had Beatty and it would've not made the GM look bad.
Reese cannot be forgiven. He has an aging franchise QB and has failed to protect him, failed to provide him a running game, failed to give him a decent TE until EE since Shockey, failed to give him a decent possession WR since Nicks, and wasted premium picks on guys like Rueben Randolph, Travis Beckum, Ramses Barden, Jarrell Jernigan, Adrien Robinson, etc.. He has been horrible at finding quality LBs & Safeties in the mid rounds, wasting many 4th & 5th round picks. He can't even hit on the CB & DE positions consistently as we've water picks on guys like Amukamara, Hosely, D.Moore & OO ...
Other than OBJ and JPP Reese has failed when it comes to drafting good talent. The importance of building a quality OL cannot be understated, especially when you are paying a franchise QB. Pugh, Richburg, & Flowers were all drafted in desperation. Too little too late. We sent some great, not just good, but GREAT coaches down the road because they could not overcome Reese' failures. It is time to do what's right for the NY Giants. Everyone responsible for this debacle needs to be fired or demoted. Even if they are family.
You HAVE seen JRs idea of good OL draft picks, havent you?
Lets try stuff now, the combination(s) we fans were asking to see MONTHS AGO. Not like we had any choice since the first sin was because Reese completely failed to fix the OL or perhaps worse, was unable to recognize there needed to be fixing. Regardless, should be fun against Denver no matter the combination.
The fact is the Giants under Reese have become SOFT... They draft finesse players, no nasty, no deep down, no dogs... it’s a reflection of the GM and type of player he has an affinity for... that’s who this team has become.
This team needs to get big and nasty on both lines... smash mouth up front. That’s Giants football. Not this bullshit we’ve seen for years now. Then the rest of the roster with smart and passionate players who fit the objective.
This is spot on.

Seasons over. Throw Wheeler into the fire and see what he's got
Pugh is there to help him. Put a TE to chip DE and keep a RB close by
Run Gallman to right and let Fluker and Flowers do some road grading
Flowers is bound to go to RT sooner or later
Jones is doing a fine job at center. I bet Richburgh doesn't get resigned next year. He's done a poor job at center.
I can't believe there was a person with so much NFL experience that thought this OLine would be good enough. Fuck Reese.
If I'm the broncos DC, there's no way Von even sees that matchup. I'd send him anywhere else on the offensive line for the easy broken play.

If he wants to be paid like a top OL then you have to compete against the best. Von will get his, but Pugh needs minimize Von's impact and not allow him to wreck the game.

Well, if Von lines up against Flowers, he has a choke-hold to look forward to every play. At least with Pugh's T-Rex arms, Von is likely to move right past him before he even gets within arm's reach.

I agree wit this but since Flowers is now (finally) playing at least as good as a High School tackle they figure they may be safe to move Pugh to the right Tackle spot. Poor Eli!
and
Pugh and Flower switch sides.
Also in all of this, Flowers is still LT, and well...not quite "not an NFL LT" at least for a few games it seems. Heard that in many places and fwiw, certainly not THAT bad over this short term
How about a 100yd rusher too
You were a complete bitch in the game thread. And agin this one apparently. Fuck off with your negativity.

How'd those short arms look tonight. You understand that BS T-Rex arm thing is over 1/2 inch between "desired" length and Pugh's arms.....

Maybe someone slipped the broncos some nyquil in the gatorade.

Go back in that thread, I'm still waiting for my apology, tough guy.
