I bought GNR tickets for tomorrow night instead of tonight because I didn’t want to miss the Giant game. Bought them in August. Now this game is essentially meaningless and tomorrow night the Yankees play in game 3 of the ALCS.
These fuckin jerkoffs have robbed an entire season from us. We should all be all jazzed up. Instead we have to spend 3 hours watching a dog shit team in a dog shit league. what the fuck happened?
some of you guys are really rooting? i hope the giants lose, want a higher pick come april. ill watch and want to see some guys improve like the OL and gallman but its hard to root for a team in whats already a wasted and lost season
To be fair, he was simply repeating the speculation and indicated such. Ridiculous speculation though.. How do you improve the worst offense in the league? Not by selling your franchise QB without suitable replacement.
Does anyone actually think that's a good idea at this point?
I tried to explain that to others in one of the Eli Trade threads this past week. With not enough cap space to account for the dead cap, the Giants would have to rework contracts just to eat the cap hit of an Eli Trade. After the trade deadline, then there is a 3 day window when the league year opens in which a trade could be worked requiring Eli to waive his NTC. After the $5 MM roster bonus is paid, I suppose they could still work a trade, but there is no off-setting language so the Giants would be flushing that money down the drain. Most likely is if the roster bonus is paid, then Eli will be the starting QB for the NYG. Johnny isn't paying $16MM cash to watch Eli hold a clip-board for a rookie.
if the Giants were to pull the trigger on McAdoo mid season, I'm curious if Sullivan would be considered for an interim job and the Giants want to see what he can do. Throwing that out there.
There are a TON of BBIers that will owe both Eli and Sullivan an apology tomorrow morning.
Wtf? Why? Has anyone on BBI said that the Giants won't win this game because of Eli and Sullivan? I've seen a million reasons as to why we won't win this game. Those two weren't any of them.
they finally make changes?? wow. just wow. This kinda of changes should have happened since day one with the Oline and play calling! This is what really pisses me off.
We get out punted every game. Even in the thin air his punts are 40 yards. The other guys are 50+.How is there no competition for his job considering he is directly involved in two losses?
I think under the fair catch rules, it's not just about contact. You have to give him the opportunity to catch it. That said, I think it was still a BS call because he was a couple of yards away and hit him after he touched the ball.
on 1st down and then know enough NOT to pass it to Gallman with someone basically on his back
I'm not sure it was a screen. But, I hate when he trows a pass like that intentionally at the feet.
Eli does this ALL THE TIME and it drives me nuts. QBs do this all the time. Scramble the outside under pressure and dump it off. He throws it to the ground/feet intentionally way too much.

yeah, not me. i think we win this at the end.
I am not among that group. I think Eli is still a top QB and is having a good season on a terrible team and I have been begging for McAdoo to give up playcalling since last year.
The Sanders reception flipped the field position advantage. Even if we don't get points on this drive, it is important for us to be able to punt inside of their 20.
I sympathize with Manning having to play with a sub-par line, a coach who is in over his head, and all his weapons hurt. But the unforced errors are so damn frustrating.
Is run blocking well pass protecting adequately lies hitting receivers even jpp and other defensive linemen are getting through what the hell is going on here
Yup. And you also notice how all of sudden Ellison is in there on almost every play. Why wasn’t this part of the gameplan from game one? This is why they paid him to help block in the run and pass game
and could also hold his own at LT. Either way he's probably the best tackle we've had on the roster these last 2 years.
Once Reese failed to upgrade the tackle spots, I am totally dumbfounded as to why Pugh was not moved. Total fucking BS that any talent evaluator can see in 2 seconds.
Where was Engram the last 2 weeks? Where has Ellison been this whole time? Why did it take 3 games to realize Darkwa and Gallman are much better than Perkins?

yep. that's been my complaint. we seem to have a system that rewards incumbents and tenure rather than production and talent.
Why does a gunner maintain full speed, so that the returner can sidestep him easily? Shouldn't he slow down, force the returner to freeze, and wait for help to arrive?
This where the offense needs to get a few first downs.
Defense bent but didn't break. Look at the last 2 drives. Turnover, then Giants go 3 and out. Long drive held to a field goal. D has been on the field a ton.
I feel Jenkins is fine with thomas, but on some play(s) jenkins is playing under and expecting help over the top. Guys got to do their job
I totally agree - he just can't be expected to climb the ladder with Thomas. On the big reception he was in perfect coverage and was just a few inches too small to get a hand on the ball. That's where the damn safety needs to be in the mix.

see this coming. Would like to see more creativity on offense, but Eli probably has little rapport with the WRs. Hence the conservative draws, delays, and throws to Engram.
OL has been great. Flowers has been excellent. Eli has had time, and the run blocking was very good.
Denver can't run. D has made some nice stands after big plays by Denver.
be it his playcalling or lack of game management...it's showing he was a huge part of the problem. Sullivan is calling the plays Eli is comfortable with...McAdoo seemed to call plays based of what he was successful with in his Madden 13 playoff run.

Its still the same offense, which has scored ten points so far tonight.
The Giants are playing loose. They came in realizing no one thought they could even be in the game so they look like it.
With Sullivan calling plays, that is throwing off everything Denver prepared for. Eli isn't in shotgun as much. I haven't seen that many shotgun draws. Going more to the TE. Running with the reshaped offensive line. This was not the team the Denver defense expected.
And Denver came out flat as a pancake. They saw no Odell. Saw disarray and they look like a team that expected to show up and blow them out. Now they are not only in a dog fight, they might end up being the ones blown out.
All in all, God dammit, this is too little too late for the Giants. But what the hell, I'll ignore the records for the moment and enjoy this.

This doesn't overwrite 0-5. If anything, it shows that the team hasn't quit on the head coach, even after the DRC stuff, like some have said.
I could argue the team could have been 2-3 at minimum heading into this. Everyone is to blame for the record, but I do think Reese gets piled on at times. This OL has been solid tonight.

Its the same playbook they've used for years. Do you really think Eli doesn't have a pretty big role in setting the game plan and determining what plays are going to be run?

I agree with this... Reese does not get a pass here. I think this shows the team fighting more for the HC and themselfs then anything Reese has done. I still keep Mac 100% before I keep Reese.

Well said Matt. I'm just wondering where this team has been for the last five weeks. The season itself is still a lost cause IMO, but it's good to see some fight and unity from this team. Also good to see guys like JPP and Collins playing well.
The Denver D had already seemed to take Engram out of the game and stop the run. So whatever changes we went into the game with have been countered by the Denver D. Lets see what Sullivan can dial up in the 2nd half.

Can't keep McAdoo and fire Reese because you force McAdoo on a new GM
Eli has 74 yards passing, with most of those yards going to Engram. TEs appear to be a much bigger part of this offense now.
Giants have to do a better job of doubling Thomas in second half and keep stopping the running game. The offense can’t be done. I’d think they need to put at least another 10 on the board. Broncos are definitely not rolling over at home.
RE: RE: 2 huge problems with McAdoo that seem obvious Â
Eli running to his left. That’s a tough throw for a right handed QB. He couldn’t get his body turned enough to make a good throw there. I think it could have been a better called play however. Where’s the backs or TEs in that play, when you need 5?
This doesn't overwrite 0-5. If anything, it shows that the team hasn't quit on the head coach, even after the DRC stuff, like some have said.
Yawn. Reese put together a team that everyone thought was a playoff team. Tonight is showing the Head Coach has been the problem. He’s been out of the way tonight.

Matt, the really ironic thing with what you pointed out is that for the last two years many on BBI have said to put Eli under center, shuffle the line with Fluker (this year), use EE more (that is this year), go double TE, etc...
This doesn't overwrite 0-5. If anything, it shows that the team hasn't quit on the head coach, even after the DRC stuff, like some have said.

The offense scored 10 points tonight and we're in the 3rd quarter. LOL at some big revelation being made for the offense.
Reese hasn't been able to build even just a decent OLine in 6 seasons and gave shitty contracts away to players who don't deserve them, John Jerry, and others. Don't make me laugh.

The offense has scored four fewer points than the offense in this game. How is this performance some kind of statement on McAdoo?
Any of you that we can only throw the ball to Engram?
They're on their 5th WR and some sclubs off the street. Denver has been the leading pass defense in the league.
The offensive output tonight has frankly been miraculous given both teams respective form.
was a wasted series of downs. Should have thrown on second down. Two runs into the line was predictable. Didn't need to score, but needed a few first downs.
Has been an absolute beast, with his best game yet. I can't believe how strong he's been at the point of attack. Hats off to Eli Apple, way to bounce back.
He had enough time to get it out, but decided to hold it and take the sack. He didn’t want to force it, but I saw a WR running free across the formation.
Get rid of the negative vibes brought on by these guys know by their initials and you have a much better chance of winning.
In all honesty, what in the world are you talking about??
I'm sure the HC being the HC and not a myopic offense coordinator has nothing to do with it.
Only on bbi could anyone think that the most productive skill player in the league is a reason a team is winless. Did we all forget week one? Lots of offensive production that week.

I wasn’t expecting them to be world beaters I just thought they could catch a few passes. Geeeesh!
It’s not that having OBJ is bad, it’s that when multiple talented people are involved you have a better offense. This is more how the Patriots play. You need a good plan and multiple good receivers, not just one star. Also , star wide receivers pout if they don’t get the ball and can certainly be distractions

Nope. Quit this lousy narrative. They're not winning because they suddenly have hard-working, overachieving team players.

We'd be doing even better with OBJ. He'd open up things for the other rookie WR's out there (at a minimum).

Nah, OBJ is the problem. Just look at how fun and easy this offense is now that he's gone.
for a Britt in VA pat himself on the back thread tomorrow. I think we're all impressed with the offense tonight and Sullivan calling plays (though they looked pretty good with Macadoo the past two weeks too), but Britt seems to be happier about himself being right about that than anything else. I guess that means his belief in Coughlin and Coughlin's minions will never waiver.

We'll get one despite the offense doing basically nothing, and taking zero advantage of the turnovers.

Good thing Jenkins got in the end zone. On the other 2 turnovers the offense directly went 3 and out.

Exactly...what a silly point given we ar without our top 3 receivers
Fluker and Pugh should have been inserted where they are much earlier.
Also, Collinsworth wants to praise McAdoo now for giving up play calling? Would have been nice before the season went up in flames.
The criticism should be the offensive line depth chart, not playcalling. Playcalling hasn't been the difference. They have had three better weeks in a row running the ball.

Manning was a totally compotent game manager and didn't get in the way of a stand out defensive performance. Good on him. It's exactly what this team needs from him from here on out in his career.

Thats a little much, given that Eli is missing his top 4 receivers.
Orleans Darkwa is having a career night against a defense that must have hit the buffet before the game and they have one touchdown.
I'm not sure I see the problem. They made plays when the game was still in the balance and then they leaned on the ground game and the D. The ground game and the D both responded. That is how you win a game. Should they have been throwing it downfield to guys who weren't on the roster last week when they got up by a few scores?

You've been a miserable fucking prick throughout this game thread. Bwahaaaaaa! Some of your posts have included blaming Semien for sucking, the defensive line that was the best in the NFL at stopping the run hitting the buffet before the game and then in another thread saying that the Broncos must have taken NyQuil before the game. No credit to the Giants, all the blame on the Broncos. It's insanely obvious that you laid down some heavy cash on Denver, and I'm sorry for your loss, hopefully you can still afford to eat this week. I've never seen so much angst after an improbable win before.
Fail.
i usually get especially amped when we're on sunday night. today? just hoping we don't look like utter shit.

Does anyone actually think that's a good idea at this point?

Hoping to see some new wrinkles tonight, but doubting anything will change much....gonna look very familiar, very quickly.
Me too
it is game 6 might be time to show up
We only have tight ends.

Great screen. Somebody threw a great block.
i can already see an adjustment by the LB to occupy some space right in Eli's throwing lane
Let’s go Sullivan
That explains the wise use of the TE!
About three weeks too late

True but at least the offense is moving the chains and putting points on the board -- vs the best defense in the league and without our top 3 WRs.
McAdoo's offense looked a lot shittier vs worse defenses at full strength.

So far he looks better. Hope he keeps it up
My thought, exactly.
Probably nerves...wants to ensure he has the ball secure
Giants are snakebit...
yeah, not me. i think we win this at the end.
Ben seems fine with the call
The plan is to try to move the ball with the backs and TEs and hope the d can hold.
Please tell me your kidding? I wasn't paying attention
It is in this instance, but the rule is in place mostly to prevent krs from getting blasted while trying to field a kick.

Eli does this ALL THE TIME and it drives me nuts. QBs do this all the time. Scramble the outside under pressure and dump it off. He throws it to the ground/feet intentionally way too much.
Wing should have been gone already

There are a TON of BBIers that will owe both Eli and Sullivan an apology tomorrow morning.
yeah, not me. i think we win this at the end.
Need to unleash Tavares King
Weird as there looked to be nothing wrong with the snap and hold.
At least it's not the 2nd half.
so lets continue to exploit that matchup.
Agree that Denver is overloading the box. With their secondary and our WRs, it's the only smart decision.
Nice scramble by Eli.
Fluker kicked some ass on that run
WTF!?
Way to piss the season away the last 5 weeks. Where was this OL configuration while we were all screaming for it!?
Yeah, they are serving a warm glass of "shut the fuck up" to BBI.
This is a west coast offense
+1,000
Let's win this game!
players contributing as a team AND runnibg football
Maybe we fans don't really know what's going on in the locker room.
It's the playcalling. Eli is comfortable with Sullivan, clearly.
Just enjoy watching your team play well. Life is too short.
They came out flat and now they are in a fight. Very Giant-like actually
this looks like a football team for the first time this year....
whether they win or lose, they actually have rhythm.
Yeah, they are serving a warm glass of "shut the fuck up" to BBI.
If they're serving warm glasses of "shut the fuck up" maybe you should order a double.

It's a shame because they might reel off 6 or 7 wins down the stretch.
No question about it.

Secondary should cover Engram. I’d be curious if they’d pass to a WR.
Well LEwis had a big 3rd down reception for a first down on that drive.
I was kidding.
No question about it.
Yup. And you also notice how all of sudden Ellison is in there on almost every play. Why wasn’t this part of the gameplan from game one? This is why they paid him to help block in the run and pass game
No question about it.
that's for sure.
But that was a big boy tackle.
Exactly
Doesn’t matter, here comes a first down

I was wrong about the original ruling on the field. Thought it was down by contact.
It was PI... jackrabbit initiated the contact. Not even close as much as I hated to see it.
I wonder how many guys aren't watching this.
And what have they done with the real Giants players. LOL!

yep. that's been my complaint. we seem to have a system that rewards incumbents and tenure rather than production and talent.
How annoying is that?
Brady got Hogan killed today too. It happens.
it was a half assed attempt at calling a TO. Like one of those fair catch signals that nobody is sure about.
You gotta remember there are a bunch of really, really green players in there.

High throws never happen when I play Madden. Also no other QB in the league ever throws a high pass.
Makes me think how great would Beckham be if he ever saw a stacked box. Might average 140 yards a a game
Must be using his fat new contract as his tail piece.

Eli does not always throw slants high. Hell he already threw a few low to Engram tonight. You are just nitpicking Eli.
They're in the Denver thin air. That's a concern
We couldn't get pressure with JPP and Vernon. We're not going to get much with JPP and Kerry Wynn.
Wynn is decentish as a fundamentally sound run stuffing DE on early downs but that's about it.
Defense bent but didn't break. Look at the last 2 drives. Turnover, then Giants go 3 and out. Long drive held to a field goal. D has been on the field a ton.
A score with little to no time left for Denver then get the ball the second half.

Marshall and DRC maybe, I don't think OBJ is an issue. He always plays hard and the players like him.

And let the dogs lose a bit on defense

I totally agree - he just can't be expected to climb the ladder with Thomas. On the big reception he was in perfect coverage and was just a few inches too small to get a hand on the ball. That's where the damn safety needs to be in the mix.

OL has been great. Flowers has been excellent. Eli has had time, and the run blocking was very good.
Denver can't run. D has made some nice stands after big plays by Denver.

LOL. I bet BigMac is great at Madden!
Its still the same offense, which has scored ten points so far tonight.

The practice squad makes a difference, at least they know the offense.
Its the same playbook they've used for years. Do you really think Eli doesn't have a pretty big role in setting the game plan and determining what plays are going to be run?
2. Play-calling. It is a huge red flag that the offense looks far more under control with Sully calling plays with much less talent tonight.

Well said Matt. I'm just wondering where this team has been for the last five weeks. The season itself is still a lost cause IMO, but it's good to see some fight and unity from this team. Also good to see guys like JPP and Collins playing well.

Can't keep McAdoo and fire Reese because you force McAdoo on a new GM
Giants have to do a better job of doubling Thomas in second half and keep stopping the running game. The offense can’t be done. I’d think they need to put at least another 10 on the board. Broncos are definitely not rolling over at home.

One half.
Let's go D!
tough pass to hit across your body
Pugh has been on miller
Eli running to his left. That’s a tough throw for a right handed QB. He couldn’t get his body turned enough to make a good throw there. I think it could have been a better called play however. Where’s the backs or TEs in that play, when you need 5?
Miller normally plays on the right.

Yawn. Reese put together a team that everyone thought was a playoff team. Tonight is showing the Head Coach has been the problem. He’s been out of the way tonight.
There is plenty enough talent on this team. Need a massive help on the oline and some help in the secondary.

Draft picks are on scholarship on the Giants.
Richburg can play guard over Jerry

Blah, blah, blah, blah.
damnit, it was so obvious...oh well, keep the clock moving
Blah, blah, blah, blah.
As always.
seriously??? lol
we had a good stop on the return
Can't risk a bad punt, block, or return so deep in your own end. Just take a good punt.
And risk a blocked punt or a return for a TD?
Umm, no.
In coverage, yes
If denver returns for a TD, then what would we be saying?
How many guys does it take to covers pass???
11 may not be enough I guess.
(ducking)
We'll get one despite the offense doing basically nothing, and taking zero advantage of the turnovers.
(ducking)
really? you want to give them another shot at recovering it?

for a Britt in VA pat himself on the back thread tomorrow. I think we're all impressed with the offense tonight and Sullivan calling plays (though they looked pretty good with Macadoo the past two weeks too), but Britt seems to be happier about himself being right about that than anything else. I guess that means his belief in Coughlin and Coughlin's minions will never waiver.

He's been fine. Denver TEs have combined for 4 catches for 58 yards.
No need to get cute. This is what tc wouldve done with a big lead.
See last yrssuper bowl
Look, I still don't know if we can expect more of this with Sullivan at the helm. But, this was long overdue.
Well, we almost lost the ball. Always an adventure.

Zero advantage of the turnovers when one was a pick 6?
Good thing Jenkins got in the end zone. On the other 2 turnovers the offense directly went 3 and out.

Shut up already. Most of our WR were not on active roster last week and Denver is the top D

Don’t confuse people with facts.
Kneel so no one can get injured

Exactly...what a silly point given we ar without our top 3 receivers
Also, Collinsworth wants to praise McAdoo now for giving up play calling? Would have been nice before the season went up in flames.
Hes the best

The criticism should be the offensive line depth chart, not playcalling. Playcalling hasn't been the difference. They have had three better weeks in a row running the ball.
Dilly Dilly

Manning was a totally compotent game manager and didn't get in the way of a stand out defensive performance. Good on him. It's exactly what this team needs from him from here on out in his career.
Miller with only one sack - wow. Who would think JPP would have 3 and Miller 1.
And as I said - JPP should stick with bull rushes..

Thats a little much, given that Eli is missing his top 4 receivers.
You've been a miserable fucking prick throughout this game thread. First it was The only reason the Giants were winning is because Semien sucks despite WRs supposedly running wide open and now the defense obviously hit the buffet before the game? Wtf is your problem? You can't enjoy a win without pissing, moaning and complaini? I feel sorry for your wife you miserable fuck.

Orleans Darkwa is having a career night against a defense that must have hit the buffet before the game and they have one touchdown.

We scored 16 on offense...but with shit receivers
The running game has been better since Jones went in at center and particularly with Pugh to RT.
That's been coming along since the Tampa game. It's not "sullivan magic".

They literally don't have anyone else. They're on their 4 5 and 6th receivers. Of course they suck.
