I think this makes him look bad personally. Granted, no win situation.
If he recognized a mistake and corrected it, it's not a poor reflection on him. At least he did it. Plenty of coaches go down in flames doing it "their way".
lets remember Mac has never been a head coach anywhere. Should he have got his first job here? No, but you have to expect him to learn on the fly... I say give him a chance..Never know.
RE: Tonight, he finally gives up the play calling Â
losing the team, not having a clue....were just doing what fans always do, get angry when their team loses, and look for the easiest fix.
Coaches grow into jobs, Parcells first season was very similar to this season. I'm not saying that in hindsight, I wrote it earlier this week.
None of us know what kind of coach MacAdoo is going to be, but this win tonight says a lot.
To overcome all the negativity and get this team to come together and win a game no one gave them a chance to win, without 3 starting receivers, is as improbable a win as this team has had in a long time.
Coach gets the credit, only an idiot wouldn't admit that
does exactly what the fans want, and then the fans say well this actually just tells me what an idiot he was the first 5 weeks. God, you people are insufferable.
I am not going to just say he redeemed himself tonight . Â
The pick six was the difference in the game tonight as was
the defensive effort .
The fact that they started Hart last week made absolutely
no sense . Pugh solidified the pass blocking and did an
excellent job on Brandon Graham who was hot coming in with
his play yes we lost but Graham was held in check and we
started to run the ball a bit . We finally found a decent combination on the line but he put a cold Hart back in there rather than keeping Pugh at RT .
Giving up the play calling I will give him credit for but
what was left to do ?
The defense won this game and we ran the ball enough to keep them fresh .
I'm not even sure this bump will last, he should have surrendered these duties when we were 0-2 coming off the historic offensive cold streak, too little too late. It'll correct, we waited too long.
This guy “supposedly” made these changes to the team an got a huge win. Well if he’s so great, why didn’t he do it when we still had a chance? Give me
A
Fucking break.

Boo effing hoo. He made some effective changes and progress. Your pound of flesh will have to wait. It's not a finished product by far, but a step in the right direction. To be angry about a victory screams of a hole in your fandom.

Then there are plenty of idiots on BBI. They screamed he lost the team, then they won, and now he "looks bad" because of it.
one of the better teams in the league without a single NFL-caliber Wide Receiver on the active roster??
Whether they won because McAdoo made the right changes or not, you gotta give him credit for getting the team focused last night. They could have easily packed it away and showed nothing...
1. I don't think there's any real issue about his ability to be the leader of this team. I give him credit on that front for last year's run and I give him credit on that front for this win. He does seem to do a good job motivating the team and I don't think there's an issue with losing his players. His tough guy act with the press is stupid...as is his hair....but I care zero percent about either of those things.
2. I'm not trying to look for negatives out of a positive win, but I did have this nagging feeling last night that the game perfectly highlighted some of the frustrations I've had with his stubbornness this season and how things could have gone differently if some changes were made sooner. Handed over play calling, heavily featured Engram, Darkwa/Gallman as the lead backs, OL configuration that many have been calling for since camp...and the results were great. So credit to him for making the changes...but also, why did it take until week 6? Same feeling I had when they started going more quick release/no huddle in Philly. Why didn't we do these (seemingly obvious tactics to mitigate OL struggles) sooner (as in LAST SEASON)? This is why I'm more open to the idea of him staying on as coach IF HE'S FIRED HIMSELF AS OC. Many of my biggest gripes with him are about how he has performed as the OC. If that's no longer on the table, I'm a lot less concerned about him as a coach.
3. Just as I didn't fully credit him for the performance of the D last year, I think its only fair not to fully criticize him for the performance of the D this year. This team is really constructed to play close games and win with the D. Thus, that unit, to me, is really the biggest culprit so far this season. They've had the lead or a close game handed to them in almost every game this season and failed to stop the opponent (until last night). They've been bulled in the run game and can't get off the field on third downs. So those things make it hard to fully evaluate how Mcadoo is doing because those are things I just don't think he could fully anticipate/control.
Overall, I'll be ok if they bring him back...but, like I said, I don't want to see him calling plays again.
I'm not pissed that they won. I'm pissed that it took 5 straight fucking losses for last night to happen. Where was that earlier?
If you're right and everything you wrote above happened, I'm pissed that it took losing the season to get there, and in my opinion, you should be pissed too.
Very happy he gave up play calling duties
Defenses playing as expected
Finally
One problem.....everything should have been done prior to 1st game......not after they are basically eliminated
At the very least, this should encourage him to be less stubborn going forward.

This is the biggest problem I have with him and the staff. How was Fluker inactive week 1???
He's not going to get brownie points now after all he's cost them.
I like it and get a new haircut

Here’s the question...the Giants go 7-3 the rest of the way to finish 8-8 and still miss the playoffs...do people want him back?
This game showed things about MacAdoo many said he could never do.
Give up play calling for one, orchestrate a win tonight for two,
Turns out he hasn't lost the team, three.

Absolutely not, but even 4-12 probably keeps him, with how this team is run.
A
