I feel he deserves his own thread from one from one of his biggest critics. Kudos to him for a job well done tonight. He played very well in a tough environment. Let's hope he can keep it up.
Hopefully he's turned the corner and starts to become more consistent Â
To really enjoy playing tonight.
Even got on himself twice that I saw; 1 on a missed block, the other on letting the DE get around him to get Darkwa for a loss.
I said it might take until mid-season for all the technique changes to become natural. Guys who played, like B in ALB would know better than me, but like changing a golf swing or any athletic endeavor, it takes time, patience and perseverance to completely alter your technique.
We'll see if he keeps improving, he's not out of the woods, yet.
night was his best game of the season, and his play has steadily improved the last few games. Still think his future is at guard, but it's good to see him play well.
To get competent Tackle play from both the LT and RT in one game. This needs to be the configuration going forward to find out if this has a chance to be the line of the future. I still think Richburg deserves a shot at C, despite Jones playing very well. If you can eliminate 3 positions on the line from next year's checklist, and you add 2 talented Guards to this OL, I think it has a chance to be productive and certainly not a detriment.
Having said all of that, I will eat hat all day if Flowers continues to progress. This is what we all wanted to happen, and there were some people that were holding out hope that he could do exactly this this year. The kid is still only 23!
has given up a "real" sack in 3 games. Yes, his guy got a sack yesterday but Flowers had him well blocked and Eli stepped into the sack. But he maybe gave up 3-4 pressures yesterday. That's pretty damn good. Maybe it's clicked for him. His confidence has to be building and that seemed to be a contributor to some of his problems in the past.

Richburg has been lousy last year and this year. Go with the hot hand.
Flowers has a good game, even a good few games, and we think he has turned the corner. Last year, people were constantly posting that twitter feed of the OL guru who was showing us how much he improved. He is not a LT. He has basically wrecked two seasons (although we were 11-5 last year, our offense was atrocious in large part due to him), it’s time to move on.

Is there no way that a young player could ever go through lumps and eventually figure it out at the age of 23-24? I am not saying he is all of the sudden the answer after 3 good games, but this is a positive trend. IF it continues throughout the rest of the year, I think you can safely say hes turned the corner. Maybe let's let it play out.
