Evan Engram stats vs other tight ends in nfl

Ira : 10/16/2017 8:57 am
5th in yards
5th in receptions
tied for 4th in 20+yd receptions

It's nice that we finally fixed the weakness at te with him and Ellison.

Not only that...

but his stats could be even better. Last week for example I do not even think he was targeted more than once. Last night, we seemed to go away from him a bit in the second half.
Just imagine if
Rflairr : 10/16/2017 9:02 am : link
If the Giants had a creative offensive coordinator.
His numbers
jvm52106 : 10/16/2017 9:02 am : link
would have been better in second half if we stayed out of shot gun more and went two TE's and play action. The later in the game we went the more we went away from what was working in first half to keep from turning the ball over.

Can't play scared all season but made sense here with such inexperience in the lineup and on very little practice time.
Who knows if he doesn't

drop that pass and we convert, he gets another opportunity in the red zone to score. Love this kid!
He is gonna be a real weapon
Heisenberg : 10/16/2017 10:00 am : link
as he gets even better.
Everyone expected this kid,
Doomster : 10/16/2017 10:25 am : link
to be Tony Gonzalez right out of the starting gate....Tony Gonzalez wasn't even Tony Gonzalez right out of the starting gate......

It will take awhile for him to develop.....surprised Denver did not lock on him, since he was our only passing weapon....

All we can expect from him, is steady improvement as the season progresses, which will not be easy, because he will be a marked man from this point on, as the only receiving weapon on this team....

Sheppard will be back.
Can anyone comment on how his blocking has been?
Tesla : 10/16/2017 10:55 am : link
From what I've seen it's been pretty solid. I've seen a few big runs where he contained his man well, and don't recall too many plays that were blown up by his missed blocks.

He looks really good out there running routes for sure....but would love to see him sent on more deep patterns/seam routes.
His speed is as advertised
Kyle in NY : 10/16/2017 10:58 am : link
Very impressive. A main priority for the rest of this season is to continue to target him frequently and get him more comfortable. He's an asset moving forward
That TD
ryanmkeane : 10/16/2017 11:31 am : link
catch was also not easy, he plucked it down low and was a pure hands catch. Nice to see.
He looks like a really nice piece

going forward and will only get better. It is still crazy to me that he ran a faster 40 than Beckham.

It goes without saying that defenses from here on out will be paying enormous attention to him. I think he will respond to the challenge.
He's a stud.
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 10/16/2017 7:44 pm : link
Keep feeding him.
Yes please feed him since nobody else
Jimmy Googs : 10/16/2017 7:46 pm : link
Is going to really do much anyway...
We have no choice, who else is worth feeding?
PatersonPlank : 10/16/2017 7:47 pm : link
.
We have enough targets if the OL holds up
Go Terps : 10/16/2017 7:55 pm : link
There are guys that can challenge each level of the defense.

Vereen, Engram, & Ellison - underneath to intermediate
Lewis & King - intermediate to deep

If Lewis and King are running 9 routes and comebacks outside the numbers all day, that's fine.

Look around the league...there are tons of big passing plays to non-star WRs.
They’re not off to a good start
Ten Ton Hammer : 10/16/2017 8:00 pm : link
Demonstrating that they can make plays. And that’s with a full week of practice and knowing they would be needed.

This group isn’t good. I don’t see how they can be leaned on. And King is a veteran, so there is very little excuse.
Not getting any warm and fuzzies that
Jimmy Googs : 10/16/2017 8:01 pm : link
King and Lewis will do much on their own.

It would be nice if they develop but gotta think they will be easily covered in the time Eli has to throw.

They don't need to do a lot on their own
Go Terps : 10/16/2017 8:04 pm : link
They need to stretch the field and open up the underneath areas. If they catch three passes a game, fine.

This offense should be lining up every down with Engram, Ellison, and a running back. That's where we're going to make our money.

Really don't understand the Tight end classification
CBoss7 : 10/17/2017 11:14 am : link
He's a Wide Receiver. The only things he's good at are when he is split out or in an "H"/Wing setup.

He can't run block whatsoever so let's just call it how it is and say hes a solid big bodied WR with a lot of promise. Drops too many easy balls, but can make great catches.

PFF ranked as the #51 Tight End in the league. He can't block at all.
