Did Mcadoo save his job last night

micky : 10/16/2017 9:26 am
unless they fall backwards again after last night, that win last night and finally turning play calling over to sully may have saved his job..have to see though here on out how he handles things
The win was great.
Britt in VA : 10/16/2017 9:26 am : link
It's not something to overreact to one way or the other.
It's a single win in a season of 16 games
Rocky369 : 10/16/2017 9:29 am : link
if that's the deciding factor, a couple of people higher up need to go
.
Danny Kanell : 10/16/2017 9:30 am : link
It was a very un-McAdoo game. Giving the play calling to Sullivan. Opting for the long FG try on 4th and short twice instead of going for it. Committing to the run. Maybe his ego took the night off.
By showing he could make changes
bradshaw44 : 10/16/2017 9:34 am : link
Once the season was lost? I sure hope not.
If the Giants end the season at 1-15,
an_idol_mind : 10/16/2017 9:36 am : link
McAdoo will be fired. So no.
No

and no ...
since no one knows what the Maras think
Peter from NH (formerly CT) : 10/16/2017 9:40 am : link
about firing him to start with, its hard to make a guess. Hard to see one game making a difference either way. Unless he learns from it.
Why can't people let this breathe?
hassan : 10/16/2017 9:41 am : link
A good data point that's all. Doesn't mean much if they finish 3-13.

Every win or loss will bring up whether reese or mc adoo stay or go around here.
It depends how the
Fred in Atlanta : 10/16/2017 9:44 am : link
rest of the season goes. It he goes 1-15, no way he is here. But sometimes it is best to look at how he reacts to adversity. Last year did not seem to have much adversity, this year does. Remember Bill Parcells was almost fired after his first year, but he reacted well to the adversity of the first year.
every coach should be giving the chance to evolve
yankeeslover : 10/16/2017 9:45 am : link
lets wait and see if hes changing.... might be good.
Well....it is not happening at the bye week now.
AnnapolisMike : 10/16/2017 10:10 am : link
Like others have said. One game. Let's see what happen with Seattle coming in.
More like Mike Sullivan

earned some points.

And our HC sheds some of the 'stubborn' stigma.
I thought I saw Mara and Tisch themselves

come down to the field and carry off the field on their shoulders.

For one game
Beer Man : 10/16/2017 10:29 am : link
he stopped the bleeding. There are 10 games left that will determine the answer to that question.
I have us

at 4-5 headed into Chiefs game. Mcadoo is safe.
No
Rong5611 : 10/16/2017 11:15 am : link
Only one win, needs to be the whole body of work after the season. Still could get fired prior to the end of the season if they don't win again going into December.
Didn't
ryanmkeane : 10/16/2017 11:21 am : link
save his job so to speak, but silenced the critics for a bit who have been trying to humiliate him for weeks.
McAdoo
Marty866b : 10/16/2017 11:23 am : link
Can't evaluate his own talent. It's obvious that the o-line that started last night was much better then we've seen all year. Even Jones played much better then we have seen from Richburg. No? Also, anyone here think that Paul Perkins is better then either Darkwa or Gallman?
Agree with most of the above, it's one game out of 16.
Tom in NY : 10/16/2017 11:26 am : link
However, unlike what has been spread by the beat writers, the team did seem to play very hard from the get go.
That is the first thing ownership is going to want to see EVERY game for the remainder of the season.

Now let's see if there is continued player development with the rookies, and young vets (i.e. Flowers, Apple, etc.). If that happens, then I would believe he McAdoo would be back in '18.

Also needs to continue to develop his in game adjustments.
the team rallied
Ron Johnson : 10/16/2017 11:31 am : link
did he get them to do it ..... or did they do it on their own, is the question
Only if it leads to something more
Matt M. : 10/16/2017 11:31 am : link
If this is one of only 3 or 4 wins, I don't think so.
No.
prdave73 : 10/16/2017 11:38 am : link
Actually it showed how much he needs to be fired. It showed how incompetent and stubborn he really is by not making the proper changes when they needed to be done in the beginning of the season. It also shows how bad he was at play calling. Unfortunately it feels like with this Org, the Giants would seriously have to lose every game in order for him to be fired.
They will just say he is inexperienced
spike : 10/16/2017 11:40 am : link
He might actually get a pass if the team is competitive again
Jury still out...
BillKo : 10/16/2017 11:41 am : link
but he did some good things.

1. Got the team to play hard

2. Did some self evaluation by handing over play calling duties

This needs, however, to continue. Team needs to stay hungry and not pack it in.

The Giants, for whatever reason, have had a major tendency to pack it in - see Fassel and TC for reference.
let's not get carried away. They were outgained by 200 yards last
Victor in CT : 10/16/2017 12:42 pm : link
night. they won on turnovers and DEN being dumb enough to challenge Jenkins instead of Apple othe 3rd CB.

Line play and running was encouraging. Less pussy football and more knocking shit out of people is Giants football, not the crap that McAdoo has brought here.

So, you're wish is that the management of the Giants was as reactionary as the fans?
You want him fired because they lost the first 5 games, and are unwilling to see the rest of the story?
They won 11 games his first season...would you admit that he continues to improve (given the team's current deficiencies), that it could be a turning of the corner for him?
I have no idea if he will continue to progress, but I do want to see what happens over the course of a full season (10 more games)...especially his development of the young players.
He was granted a stay of execution

+1.
But it shouldnt save JR and Co.
Definitely not
Tuckrule : 10/16/2017 2:18 pm : link
The one thing that's his "specialty" he passed it off to Sullivan and we played our most consistent offensive game. To his defense, the team needed him.
If they go 10-6, he comes back.
81_Great_Dane : 10/16/2017 3:49 pm : link
If they go 2-14, doubtful.

The really difficult case is also a likely one: What if they go 9-7 and miss the playoffs?

They go 8-2 the rest of the way, that's good.
They went 0-5, that's bad.
They're only 2 games off last year's record, with a tougher schedule, that's good.
They added a bunch of weapons, were supposed to be better but weren't, that's bad.
They lost OBJ and Marshall and Dwayne Harris, but still recovered to have a winning record, that's good.

My guess is if that happens, he gets another year and this place melts down.

If he goes 9-7 I’d think we have our long term HC. That would be a helluva coaching job.
It shouldnt..
Modus Operandi : 10/16/2017 4:08 pm : link
If anything, last night proved that anyone can coach this offense with even less tools and run a better gameplan on offense.

He's McToast.
The idea that he could have saved his job with one win
Heisenberg : 10/16/2017 4:11 pm : link
where the changes were he took himself out as a playcaller and made long overdue OL changes is pretty hilarious.
I don't think for one second that he gave up
IIT : 10/16/2017 4:33 pm : link
the play calling voluntarily. That came from above.
Been ripping him for weeks
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 10/16/2017 7:50 pm : link
now, but credit to Slick for FINALLY giving up the play calling.
He should keep giving things up
PatersonPlank : 10/16/2017 7:52 pm : link
In fact we'd be best if he did nothing at all.
What his gem did last night
joeinpa : 10/16/2017 8:22 pm : link
Was impressive. That cannot be denied. It might turn this season around

So in answer to the question. It didn t hurt his chances of returning
