Plenty of flawed teams in the NFL

spike : 10/16/2017 11:45 am
Right now the Chiefs and the Eagles are leading the way at 4-1. The Chiefs just dont have that great QB to lead them when they are behind, so Im not convinced.

The Eagles barely beat the Giants at home, relying on a miraculous last second FG.

Everyone has warts and its too bad the Giants couldnt take advantage, like they were expected to. Theyve lost two more games than they shouldve. At 3-3, they would still be in the midst of the playoff race

crazier things have happened. Not saying Giants will go on a crazy run of wins, but you are right, there aren't world beaters in the NFL this year. The Steelers got killed by the Jags, who lost to the Jets. The Jets nearly beat the Pats. The Falcons just blew a 17 point lead at home to Miami, who is not good.

Any given Sunday, as they say. On to Seattle and let's get a win.
Yep

The Patriots are still the best team until proven otherwise.

If anything, this season is shaping out in favor of another Pats championship.

It's a great thought...and I think the Giants will win some games. But they don't have the weapons on offense to go on an extended tear. 5-6 wins is probably the number.
Every game the Pats prove they aren't the best

They haven't played well all year. Brady is getting hit more than ever before and the defense is weak. Doesn't look like a championship season for NE.

Chiefs lost a close game. PIT needed a lucky bounce (or missed INT) for the winning TD. KC played much better than NE this year. They're younger. More explosive. I'd still bet on the Chiefs at this point.
if anyone has been paying attention the last 5 years

you'll notice how its becoming more apparent in this league that the teams that start off win-less and disorientated eventually figure it out mid season.

An even more so of that fact, those teams put together a string of winning streaks build on nothing more then sheer momentum and regained confidence.

Just from my memory recollection the Chargers , the Titans , the Lions and the Dolphins all started the year off 1-4. 2 f those teams made it to the WC and the other 2 had a hard push to make the playoffs at 9-7.
I have a sick feeling

that the Eagles are somehow going to the Super Bowl. God, I pray I'm wrong.
It's another one of those seasons,

where no team is really dominant......it usually comes down to who is the hot team at the end of the season....
If the D comes around they'll win some games

But I think the WR situation will keep them from a really great comeback. Too bad because with OBJ they might have had a chance.

I wouldn’t quibble with the notion that KC is a front runner right now but to me that speaks to how weak the NFL is at the top this season. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if yesterday was the trailer for the movie we’re going to see this January where someone goes in their house and beats them holding their Alex Smith led offense under 20 points. Limit the running game, put it on his shoulders, they lose an ugly low scoring affair. They could lead the nfl in scoring this season and I’d still be awaiting that dud of an effort in a big spot. Not to mention Andy Reid, while a great coach, has been prone to underwhelming January’s as a favorite

New England to me is still the most trustworthy stock to buy even though they look thoroughly vulnerable

Same here. KC is the best team in football in my view. Yesterday doesn't change that.

Not sold on Philly but they are definitely having a legit good season. I just don't see Wentz and that offense doing enough in January.

I agree. If everybody is flawed, including NEP, you have to go with the team that knows how to win.
With a good OL, we'd have a great shot at a 3rd Ring for Eli.
The Pats are

winning while dealing with injuries and a flawed roster at the moment. However, they are still winning. I can easily see them making a strong run later because not many in AFC can really beat them in a one off game...

However, watch out for Houston. Despite injuries on defensive side of the ball, they can score with Watson at QB...
Put me in the pro-Chiefs group too.

I also think the Raiders are one of the best. ONce Carr heals up, they will be back to where they were early in the season. They are very well rounded. Alex Smith isn't a dynamic QB, but he's very good.

I agree Houston can be dangerous. The AFC is wide open and they have the potential to be a player. Watson has been a breath of fresh air for that franchise. Ever since the Texans have entered the NFL they have been thoroughly boring and uninteresting to me even in seasons where they were decent. If they were on national TV it was an instant recipe for my interest level in the game to drop precipitously. Watson has changed that though. He has made them worth watching
