Does he make sense? No I'm not delusional or living in the past he's not the same player I get that BUT....
We brought back BJ back in 2013 in a similar situation. Cruz knows the plays, teammates and coaches. He could be the slot guy again. After last night none of the WRs stood out. On a one year low cost deal why not. He said some stupid things on the way out but others have done worse.
he disappeared in second half of season ..
but after boating excursion last year and Cruz comments after he left Giants
I think Macdoo and organization have moved on
You might say, "well, neither is Travis Rudolph" and you might be right but at least Rudolph has the potential to become one.
Im sorry to say it but the rest of the season is about evaluation while trying to win.
After the way he played last season, you would think the Giants brass knows what they have in VC....guess that is why he has not been an option....
The fact that he wasn't even considered means that he's done with the Giants and likely with the NFL as well.
+1

Bingo!
I scrolled down just to see if anyone posted the Bears WR corp. If he couldn't make that roster with those terrible WR's then he doesn't have it anymore.
bears was same issue as giants .. they already had a slot receiver
another thing is Cruz knows the Giants offense .. so his knowledge and experience is what would help the team right now

Devastating losses.
Don't forget Mario.....I felt he was starting to get it with Eli....wish we had re-signed him instead of letting him go to SF, and getting the likes of Barden, Beckum, and Randle....
Tiki in him? No clue what you're talking about.
There's a basic principle here that many don't seem to understand. You can't catch the ball if it's not thrown to you. Only thrown to 42 times in the first half of the season, Cruz only caught 25.
And he dropped a few balls. It happens, especially when everyone has the microscope on you and are putting extra pressure on you. How many key passes has Beckham dropped this year before the injury?
When Eli finally threw to Cruz in double digits, in the Philly game, he caught 8 of the 13 passes for 84 yards. On the season with limited opportunity he caught 7 passes 29 yards or longer and 3 40+ yard bombs, with another called back due to a penalty.
Every time a receiver is mauled here for not catching many passes it's because he "isn't getting separation."
Most of the people here couldn't tell whether a receiver is getting separation even when they're watching the game live, instead of on TV. Like on TV the cameras record every receivers route and show it to you? Don't think so.
Anyone who was paying attention saw Eli constantly under pressure trying to force the ball to OBJ, who was often double or triple covered but, being Beckham, still caught the ball and made some yards.
Proof of this is shown the reception that Marshall was given this year. Targeted nine times in the first two games, only about four of them catchable. Marshall dropped an important pass, so, many said, he's a bust. He wasn't getting separation.
When in games 3 and 4 and thrown the ball 21 times, Marshall started to catch more passes. What a surprise.

If it was all about Eli and the Giants holding him back, he'd be on another team right now. He would have made it beyond the Bears' third string this past preseason.
He's not and didn't. He's done. It sucks when injuries do that to guys, but it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

And some players- ex- giants- are comically disloyal to the organization that paid them millions and allowed them the opportunity to perform. He burned a bridge that was very good to him.
