Going into next season if resigned

Bleedblue10 : 10/16/2017 12:51 pm
Is Pugh a RT or a LG. I keep hearing guard is his best position but I'm not sure that's true. Also resigning him, not Richburg should be the focus. Although I believe Jones playing well and his injuries may help us keep both if the Giants want to. Idk why but I always had this feeling he(Pugh) would end up in Philly. He grew up a huge Eagles fan and all his friends still are. Seems to me like the kind of guy that would want to make the dream of playing for his favorite team come true. Hope I'm wrong cause I def want him back

For the contract he'll be demanding I'd hope they'd pencil him in at tackle.

Depends ...
Beer Man : 10/16/2017 12:56 pm : link
1. Can they sign him?
2. Who do they sign through FAs?
3. Who do they draft?

When those three questions are answered then you put the best combination of 5 out there, in the positions that put the team in the best position to win.
The Eagles have possibly the best OL in football right now.

They aren't going to pay big money for a FA this offseason there, no matter how big of a fan he grew up as.

It's still harder to find a good T than G, so the Giants should really stay looking at him as a RT. Perhaps they never should have moved him in the first place (it's not like he was getting shamed there when healthy pre-move).
Either...who cares

He is gonna get the money and the Giants are probably going to have to pay. Richburg is the one that seems expendable at the moment.

The game he played in Philly against Conor Barwin was the worst game ive seen from a OT maybe ever. That said, i think it was an outlier - especially how well he's played there this season
This draft appears Guard heavy

So I say RT
As it looks like now, Pugh and Flowers are the Tackles on this team
PatersonPlank : 10/16/2017 1:08 pm : link
for the foreseable future, and rightly so.

Every player can have one bad game though and god knows the Eagles have made fools of plenty Giants over the years in those sample sizes. I was talking overall -- he was, at absolute worst, an average RT when healthy and flashed more than that.

They moved him, chasing the idea that he could be great at guard and they could find a warm body at RT to make up for it, and it didn't pay off. He's been good at guard, again when healthy, but RT became a wasteland.
Wont go to Philly
Glover : 10/16/2017 1:46 pm : link
Lots of players grow up fans of their local teams, or the Cowboys, and then are forever loyal to THEIR EMPLOYER!!!!

Pugh should be paid as a RT, and whats beautiful about him is his versatility. He can play RT if he is the best on the roster there, or can play R or L guard, shit, even LT in a pinch. A lot like David Diehl.

And shit, the way this coaching staff sat on Fluker, like he couldnt play in the NFL, I wouldnt doubt if Fluker would be pretty solid at RT if the line would be better with him there and Pugh at either G position. Gotta replace Jerry. Shouldn't be that hard.
First, I think he should be re-signed
Matt M. : 10/16/2017 2:04 pm : link
Second, I think it should be to play OT. His one bad year at RT he was injured. Overall, I thought he has been a good LG, but is/was a better RT. He also has been god at LT when thrust there briefly. For me, it's more a question of what Flowers can do the rest of the season to determine if he remains at LT.
Haven't the contracts for RT been
rasbutant : 10/16/2017 2:10 pm : link
less the G anyways?

Pay Pugh
WillVAB : 10/16/2017 2:31 pm : link
Let Richberg walk. Pugh has looked good at tackle going up against some tough pass rushers.
Always felt they moved him too soon
larryflower37 : 10/16/2017 2:44 pm : link
Resign him and leave him at RT.
Hopefully fluker and Flowers continue to grow.
Let Richburg walk and look for a center and left guard next offseason.
Given the fact we have had horrible luck in finding O-Line personal
montanagiant : 10/16/2017 2:48 pm : link
You can't let the one player who has been better than avg walk away. Have to sign him
winning
richinpa : 10/16/2017 3:42 pm : link
Pugh will have a good shot at getting a big pay day and going where he thinks he can win

Comfort level is here as he has family/friends in the Philly area and not sure of Philly's OL situation but if Eagleswould pay him and have a spot he gets to go home for a team on the rise

We could have only Flowers and Jerry under contract I believe for next year so hope we can keep him at RT and resign him but we also have to make some decisions about OBJ , Richburg etc....

His best position may be OG but this team needs him at RT,
yatqb : 10/16/2017 5:05 pm : link
so I'd say RT.
Depends on how free agency/draft shape up.
Giant John : 10/16/2017 5:17 pm : link
But right tackle is where I liked him last night.

Pugh deserves to be paid as a RT tackle
NikkiMac : 10/16/2017 5:24 pm : link
I’d let Richburg walk
i think
old man : 10/17/2017 2:53 pm : link
Some of it will depend on:
Are they seeing either Wheeler or Bis making large strides for a starter role and where...and...
What their plan for Flowers is...LT/ RG?
And of course FA and draft intent.
And the above are mutually inclusive.
But WR has to go or become a G somehow.
Moving him to OG was a mistake...
Torrag : 10/17/2017 11:58 pm : link
...he isn't an elite player there and showed well enough at RT his rookie season to develop him there. OT is the more critical position and frankly the whole thing never made much sense to me.
